Subhanallah. This documentary hit my heart. Although it does seem to make Darul Uloom look quite run-down, 43 years later it is still running and has improved greatly.
The 1st Madrasah in the western hemisphere of the planet. Almost every Madrasah in the west had stemmed from here.
A great Sadaqah Jaariyah for Hazrat Molana Yusuf Motala (Rahmatullah Alayh). May Allah elevate his ranks in Jannatul Firdaus. Ameen

Some background to this footage...10.30 (Ibrahim Saeed) was a wonderful man very approachable and one of the main pillars in the establishment of Darul Uloom in the early days imo! 11.27 (Miss Swithanbank) inspired me to read she was a brilliant English teacher!, this student with long hair at 9.46 (Qari Qurban) was only there as a replacement due to the main teacher at 22.26(Hafiz Ibrahim) from Blackburn whom did not want to be on film, so Qari Qurban who was at the time a student sat in as teacher for that scene .Yes I was in this class that day! I was 12 yrs old! To all my brothers that was blessed to have studied here from all around the world, I say don't have regrets on what you did or not do, but remember the bond of friendships that you made, and yes it was a different time then being young and living away from home was not easy!

43 years ago even state school teachers battered students. Doesn't make it right but just saying- laws have changed, ofsted has its role, things like that are of the past. This school has evolved over the years and is fully funded by student fees.
It's a full on secondary school aswell as an Islamic college.

I think Christian's are being too flexible. One can never fully understand the laws of another religion.
I dont see this level of flexibility in Pakistan or Saudi Arabia. I hope other Islamic countries allow Christianity to be taught in state schools.

Christian's are followers of Christ. We are not called to protect or fight for Christ. We are called to simply make Jesus Christ known to others.... the choice rests on the hearers of the Word of God.
