Oh, Alex, I’m so sorry to hear that 😞 they’re so delicate when they’re first born. The first 2-3 days requires the most hands on assistance, especially if they were stressed during birth. I’m sorry your baby didn’t make it. It’s so hard to lose them 💔

Hello Carmen, your baby has the best chance at survival with frequent feedings. If you can get the baby to latch on every 2 hours and help her eat well for 15-20 minutes then hopefully within a day or she’ll get stronger and be able to latch on by herself. Good luck to you and your sweetie pie!

My dog named Creamy just gave birth to 4 girl puppies. After a week I've noticed that the one single puppy cries and cries and is much smaller than the others. I tried helping her suck her mother's breast, yet I think she doesn't have strength to do so...
Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear about it. You could try hand feeding her. You would need to get some puppy formula and a tiny syringe. Then the trick is trying to squeeze the milk into her mouth slow enough that she can swallow. If you squirt it in too fast, she will inhale it and can get fluid in the lungs. You can also try tube feeding which I have successfully done but it takes a LOT of nerves to stick the tube into the babies belly. If done right, it might be a safer way to feed her without her getting the formula into her lungs. But I would start with just the syringe and see if she willingly swallows. It could be that she just missed a few feedings (maybe she got lost under a blanket?) which weakened her just enough not to be able to fight for a nipple. It only takes a few hours for them to lose their strength when they're that tiny.
Also I wanted to let you know it's not uncommon to have at least one in a litter to have what I call "failure to thrive". Whenever I do get one like that, I always give it my all and get up round the clock for feedings every 3 hours (they can't go long without eating before they pass) but sometimes even then, they don't make it. I wish you the very best.

Mahesh Verma 😩 I’m so sorry about your baby who won’t eat. You must get him to eat or he will die soon. Try to get him on mamma’s nipple or you can try bottle or tube feeding with puppy formula.
ill never forget sisi (my dog that passed 10 years ago) had 5 babies one time and i was so amazed, never saw anything like it before. literally came home from elementary school and thought that was the craziest thing ever. but also the most beautiful at the same time. i was happy as fuck lol 5 free puppies? dont mind if i do lmao. we ended up having to give em away one by one for some reason but ill never forget one of those puppies. I named him mario. he was the last puppy left and I was convinced he was mine since i had him for nearly a month. then some guy came over and my family was telling me that he was here for mario. ill never forget the heartbreak i felt that day.
Please can you tell me what I should do if even with hands on help if pup will not latch on to mum at all, won't open it's mouth near a teat at all, if I get a syringe of formula it will cry and open its mouth so I can pop some formula in that way but will not latch to bottle either, so I'm not sure how much food pups getting 😪 he is by far the smallest aswell. I'm worried I may loose him
I recommend to tube feed him immediately. You can find TH-cam videos that show you how to tube feed. You will careful put a tube down his throat into his belly then press the syringe slowly to fill his belly with milk. Make sure to crimp the tube tightly before pulling it out so he does not aspirate. Look up "tube feeding a newborn puppy" on TH-cam first time make sure you know how to do it. The hope is to keep baby hydrated and fed long enough for him to develop the suckling reflux on his own 🙏🏼 I wish you and baby the very best ❤️

TKO WIZE RIZE I’m so sorry to hear that. At this stage though they are really too tiny to go to the vet. It’s not like they can put an IV into there pin sized arteries. The best you can do is help her feed every 3 hours. If she won’t eat off mommy you can try bottlefeeding or tube feeding. The hope is that within a few days she will start to latch on to mommy by herself so she will start to thrive.

TKO WIZE RIZE try a 1ml syringe first. Get it into his mouth and then very, very slowly push the plunger down. See if he swallows. I’ve never ever had luck getting them to take a bottle.

Manirose Calongcong i’m so sorry to hear about your baby. So first off I would check to make sure she does not have a cleft palette or a small hole in the roof of her mouth. Sometimes it is very difficult to see visually because you have to open their tiny mouth really wide and sometimes the hole is so tiny you can’t see it even still. But if there is a hole, it prevents them from having any suction! 🙁 a better way to check for a hole on the roof of her mouth is by putting the tip of your pinky in her mouth (the round part of your finger, leave your finger nail out) Usually they will try to suckle your pinky and you can tell by the way it feels whether or not there is suction. If there is no suction then she has a cleft palette. With a cleft palette she will not be able to eat on her own at all and the only way she can survive with a cleft palette is if you to feed her. A cleft palate or a hole in the mouth causes any food in her mouth will go up into her sinus and cause infections, etc.
If she has good suction, then likely she does not have a cleft palette and it could just be the quite common phenomenon I call “failure to thrive”.
With that you can try bottle feeding her. Bottlefeeding would be a great option if she has no cleft palette, but often times the newborns will not suck from a bottle. It’s easier to use a tiny syringe and then very very slowly put drips of puppy formula into her mouth making sure she swallows before you put aany more in. If you put too much at once then she can inhale it and drown in the milk. It’s a delicate procedure and she must get calories every 2 to 3 hours around the clock. I would go to the pet store now and buy puppy formula and follow the instructions how much to feed her every day. Regardless of what the instructions say on timing though, she must eat every 2 to 3 hours. A newborn Chihuahua is so tiny that it had eat Small amounts of food many times throughout the day.

Manirose Calongcong I’m so glad she does not have a cleft palate. That means she should be able to eat but she might need help. If you can’t get her to eat momma’s milk you can use puppy formula or goat’s milk.

You'll need to tube feed her or bottle feed her if she can't latch on. I do not have any videos of this but search TH-cam and you can find them.

I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of the babies. Chihuahuas are very difficult to breed 💔 I do it strictly under the guideline of my trusted vet

I find that my chihuahua likes to curl up not spreading out to nurse.
Sometimes the mommies need a little help and encouragement in the mothering department. I recommend you talk softly to her and try and get her to open her belly up for the babies.

What was the weight of the puppy?
My chihuahua just had three I had to help mom with the third one bc it wouldn’t come out and the feet were coming out first I heard that it’s bad and it’s harder for them so I had to help her out and out of all three of them none of them want to latch on I can’t get any of them to stay on or even get it, the mom also doesn’t look like she has any milk so idk what to do, I’m going to the pet store and buying puppy bottles and formula so that I can feed them but I will continue to try to make them latch on
I’m so sorry 😞 I hope you’ve had success getting them to latch on. Failure to thrive is one reason I prefer to have C-section whenever possible. The birthing process is so hard on the babies they often struggle afterwards. I recommend you look up tube feeding
