How much overall cost including lands and the house materials estimate. I’m hopping to retire in my early 40s and move to Nepal living my rest life in beautiful nature which only exists in Nepal .
please come to my place it's free you will love it.For you it takes around 2 hours in bike from city pokhara, Nepal welcome... 😊if you're a true lover of Nature only for foreigners 😅
I too have similar thoughts I'm marathi married to boy in raxual in india it's very close to nepal. After marriage when I visited nepal I was just in love with this peaceful country and want to live life as Stephanie is having.
Ahh not sure how I missed your comment for so long Hari! 3 months later the house is alllmoooosttt done, but not quite. Thank you for watching and hoping to post another update soon :)
It's looking beautiful 😍 The house is incredible!!! So exciting with your very first pear harvest 😃 Can't wait to follow the development of your paradise 🌻🦋🌲🌞 Sending lots of love from Norwegian
Marita! Thank you so much for watching and for your all your support :) Can't wait for you and Sabin to come stay with us someday, and can't wait to come visit your paradise in Norway toooo ❤️
Just curious are you sure those are aluminum beams and not steel beams? I asked for 2 reasons, 1st is because they look like steel due to a little bit of Maybe a little rust over the surface And I'm pretty sure an aluminum beam would not be strong enough to be used as a horizontal support.
Hi Russell! Thank you for your comment, and you are absolutely right! Those are indeed steel, not aluminum beans (I guess I misspoke!). They were from the older home that was on the property before and there was a bit of rust. If you check out my most recent video, you can now see that they've been coated and painted! Hope you are well :)
Hello. Thank you for this beautiful informative video. I am planning a trip to Nepal in August. Do you think monsoon season is a good time to explore Kathmandu Valley ? many many thanks. Best wishes
Be wary for termites.... Mud houses and mud plastered houses have a chronic termite problem....which tend to eat away wooden structures.....further causing havocs
Yup, this is why in Nepal we have specific day every year for repainting the entire house with mud to avoid this from happening. It's celebrated like a festival.
Rammed earth is a bit different than the typical Nepali mud house, and is not nearly as prone to pests as other building materials. Unlike a typical mud or mud plastered home, rammed earth is much more solid and doesn't have hidden wall cavities for insects to live in or travel through.
@@StephThorntonNEPAL How do I put this ? Termites find their way... They find their way even in concrete houses....haha Local ecology plays a huge role
Every type house in the world gets attacked one way or another. Insects, environment, etc. When you own your own house, the maintenance never ends! Fact of life! Maybe something like an Adobe out in the desert environment lasts the longest without much maintenance?
Thank you so much! I'm not sure the exact size of the aggregate, but maybe you can see a bit better in this older video where I showed a pit more of the rammed earth process: th-cam.com/video/u6wuHSDZSpM/w-d-xo.html
haha no no, not trying to build a bomb shelter... Rammed earth walls need to be built thick to be load bearing, and as a result are super solid and long-lasting, and help regulate inside temps!
Hello and thanks for your message! We are building our house with a company that specializes in rammed earth building in Nepal, called Sustainable Future Nepal.
@@shankar4510 No, they are more of a construction company, but I'm sure you could reach out to them and ask for resources on where you can learn more about how to actually do rammed earth yourself! Here is their website: www.sustainablefuturenepal.com/
Hi Hom Gurung! The cost of our house isn't quite finalized, since we still have to work out final materials and taxes, but our contractor estimates approximately NPR 5000 per square foot. So for us probably between $80-000-90,000 USD. The price will vary depending on your location, road condition, what materials (soil, stones, etc) you already have available. Hope that helps and let me know if you have any other questions!
@@StephThorntonNEPAL very impressed with your progress and inspiring to say the least! We are just in the planning stage of our adventure and appreciate any advice given!
Okay, I’m upset. Not with the house, it’s dope, but the fact y’all got the video editing experience to turn your rammed earth build into a series but didn’t
wow ! wind's whispering , sounds of insects and birds and the silience hidden within totally meditative .

Yessss you have to come visit soon :) Thanks Binita bahine ❤❤
What is that you have used for anchoring the wooden beams? Is the beams resting on the rammed earth wall or is solely resting on the anchor?
The wooden beams are sitting in little steel brackets/anchors that are in the concrete lintels. Does that make sense?
I have been thinking this kind of dream house 🏠 omg. So natural and perfect weather natural life ❤
