      Hi Michael, the RNLI is the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. It is a charity that provides lifeboats, volunteer lifeboat crews and lifeguards all over the UK to help save lives at sea. Hope this helps, thanks!

      Hi Lee, the RNLI is the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. It is a charity that provides lifeboats, volunteer lifeboat crews and lifeguards all over the UK to help save lives at sea. The RYA is the Royal Yachting Association. The RYA is the national body for dinghy, yacht and motor cruising, all forms of sail racing, RIBs and sports boats, windsurfing and personal watercraft and a leading representative for inland waterways cruising in the UK. Hope this helps! Thanks.

All jokes aside 90% of us here couldn't hold a candle to the brave men and women risking life and limb in situations where everybody else runs for cover. I'd suggest you watch some rescue videos they posted, and see just how bad it gets out there.

    Use to donate to this lot...not anymore...3.3 million pound that's donated went to aiding Bangladeshi projects..never again will I put my hand in my pocket..and there c.e o.earning £189.000 salary...wake up people...

    • @martingeldart386
      @martingeldart386 4 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      SMH. Wake up yourself. What happens when everybody stops donating because of your daft comments? Yep, RNLI goes bust. No more sea rescues, no more lifeguards on the beaches and we're left with an under-resourced Coastguard and large numbers of deaths at sea! When a charity has a lot of money in their accounts, they have to be seen spending it otherwise they could lose charity status and will end up giving huge amounts of it to the Government for tax. They have to spend it somehow. With regards to the RNLI who has a reported '£500m', £3.3m is not a lot to give away for a good cause. According to their accounts, they spend just 2% of their annual income on international projects and they fundraise especially for those projects, so it's highly unlikely that your donations were spent overseas if you didn't know about it. As far as I know, the money spent in Bangladesh was for sea defences which, in turn, saves human lives for the people that live there and for anybody that visits, and that's hardly a bad thing, and people donate to save lives at sea. Also, every charity CEO earns similar amounts because they're running huge, successful operations and that takes extraordinary business skills, time and effort. Yes, I think that's too much for a salary but it's the same with most of the top organisations - Red Cross, Oxfam, etc - and you just won't get the right people running these operations for £40k.
