This maybe authentic but this AAR 'Cuda had been modified. At EXACTLY 1:05 timestamp, you'll see an ECM on the firewall. This is the computer control unit for Chrysler's Electronic Ignition which was experimental/optional in 1972, standard on all Chrysler vehicles in 1973.
Direct Connection sold Electronic Ignition kits and I replaced my dual point ignition with one. The better the engine runs the longer it will last is the way I looked at and I'm a purist. i still have all of the parts to put it back to point ignition so there is no problem with that.
One Of Main Reasons This Sm.Blk.Was Such A Screamer,Besides the 6 Pack,Was The Intake Valves Were Almost As Big As The Big Blocks,So W/ the FUNCTIONAL Hood Scoop + Gigantic Intake Valves,That Engine Was Getting Plenty of Air.That Color & the Few White W/ Blk.Stripes Were VERY RARE COLORS !!!
For those of you who don't know, the 3 speed Torqueflite automatic transmission was superior to the 4 speed manual transmission. I had the T handle slap stick version and it was unbeatable. It never miss shifted and it allowed you to manually shift via the slap stick if you wanted to. However, from years of racing in the desert, I've found that just leaving the Torqueflite in Drive was the best option as it always shifted perfectly every time. In my last race, my 1972 340 Cuda with torqueflite automatic beat a 383 Cuda with manual 4 speed. At the end of the race the guy said, "That wasn't fair, I miss shifted during the run." and I said to him "and whose fault was that."
@@willlee3378 It was more desirable to collectors because less of them were manufactured. The consumer market moved from standard to automatic in the early 70s. This allowed Cuda drivers to keep one arm on the steering wheel and the other on his girl.
@@Veteran007 hey I'm new is true that a 71 boss 351 can beat a 71 mach 1 429scj with drag pack because heavy engine and will a 70 torino 429scj even if it's heavier than a 71 boss 351 it will beat the boss because of the way is desing
It is also known in the Mopar crowd as Root beer brown.had a 69 charger and a 71 barracuda and a 71 road runner with a white interior and strobe stripe and tuxedo top in that color I didn't own them I fixed them for the owners......but we called them Root beer.
I thought I read somewhere they wouldn't allow the cuda to run trans am because the wheelbase was too short? Or was it that it didn't perform as well as the challenger because of it?
perhaps ...and you would be Oh so jealous of that woman. Chrysler knew the autos were faster that's why so many more Mopar muscle had torqueflites instead of 3 or 4 speed manuals...

I saw that color on a 71' cuda' at the track as a spectator. I later bought a orange 383 71' cuda.
I love that color
great show , look forward to it every week shame you cant take them out on the road for a spin .
Super nice car as usual. Thanks for sharing.
Wow. I have never seen the brown before.
Love it. Love the show.
You forgot to pull the hood up by the corner of the scoop. Still the best narrator.
Its a funky color for Sure!!!!,but I love it because it's different and rare...
Thanks for sharing...🇺🇸👍✌
Then get a underrated hate 71-73 mustang everyone hates
How many AAR cudas are in the collection???? Good Lord!!!
Interesting to think that the engineers who cooked up these wild cars mostly grew up in the 1930s and 40s.
Nice!
the cuda 1970-1974 is awsome.

Maybe more superior in racing but the 4 speed is way more fun to drive and besides stick cars are more desirable by collectors.

@@AlejandroP1980s Don't know. You'll have to ask a Ford expert. However, in my estimation, it's 80% car and 20% driver.
@@AlejandroP1980s that’s all true. In stock form, the Boss 351 was the quickest Boss, even the Boss 429.

Now that is a sweet color on a truly historic and classic car!!!!!!😱😱😳😳. Too bad a car like this, I can only have in my dreams.🙄🙄😒😒
Dads Rootbeer with a bite would quench the thirshs for years cool drink of water
Do you make up specs? 0 - 60 was 6.4 and curb weight is 3530!
The paint on the hood is wrong! It should be textured Organisol which has no sheen.

MBailey1977: I’m not sure what your saw, but it did run in T/A.
it could use white interior
She nice
Real nice car, but again, an automatic transmission. Oh well.😑
Wheres the pistol grip 4 speed. A auto on a fine car like that os a sacriledge.A woman could drive that. To hell with that.
