Wonderfully made Documentary! Very informative, and moving... Nicely narrated, on the daily life of the Sisters. Thank You Sisters, for all Your Great Work!
This life is a choice. Nothing is left to chance. When one chooses a life of silence, it can be very intimidating at first, but once you start communicating with God each day, your life becomes fulfilled. Think about lifes distractions today. TV, cell phones, laptops, radio, constant need to buy things, this obsessive need to want things. Like cars, jewelry, clothes, all manner of things. Even excessive eating of foods that are no good for you. Yes life is full of distractions which cause a breakdown of communication between God and human. In general, silence gives one a chance to hear God. It allows one to open not only their brain, but their heart. To have such clarity is very important in order to become a Nun. It is said one doesn't choose becoming a Nun. That God chooses that person. When such a calling occurs, silence becomes all that much more important. Hearing God speak is a blessing. The life of a cloistered Nun is indeed very very hard, but the rewards far outweigh those harsh realities. At the heart of It all is prayer. Always the prayer. The single greatest thing we have is prayer. Reading Scripture and praying is good for the soul. It creates such a positive feeling within ones own heart. The stress of everyday life is such that it almost becomes impossible to hear God. Let alone pray too him. In such an enclosed environment the Nuns can focus on prayer and helping others in need. Which the Sisters excell at. I cannot speak for anyone else, but just the sight of a Nun in Habit brings me too tears of peace and happiness. In that very moment, I know everything will be okay. That nothing will hurt me or my family. Such is the power of God. I thank God for Nuns. They're amazing in everything they do for others with little to no thought for themselves or each other, they help those in need. The peace of seeing a Nun cannot be overstated in my humble opinion. I only wish there were more Nuns in the world. Together with God, they make life much more tolerable for those in need and those that simply cannot cross that bridge to everlasting peace. God Bless all the Sisters far and near......🌹
My friend that is incredibly demeaning to these nuns spirituality, some are simply called to follow the Lord in a more isolated setting than that of a populated one. Equally both serve the Lord and are needed in evangelising the world. Jesus did indeed do both - preached to large crowds and when it got overwelming went into the desert to pray in isolation in complete silence (as scripture tells us before he went into Jerusalem). These nuns live just as equally as you or I . God Love you !
Dank je wel voor de video. Jullie nonnen doen goed werk met bidden en lezen en stil wezen en werken na GOD en Jezus Christus normen en waarden. Amen sjalom shalom. Kijk ook op GODnabij.nl amen
enniopat as a sola scriptura must be right, perhaps he can contact each 35,000 sects of bible believers and strangely believe something different and give us the correct answer. Sorry I did not have the physical effect the apostles did when they received the HS, so I dont have the HS but the Catholic Church does, I rest in that fact. that the church wrote the bible and talks to the Ethiopian in the chariot and explains what he reads, as the church corrects me. enniopat do you have the HS,
Ennio Palozzo, I do not know if you wanted to become a nun. I say with envy and you have them, because you have not stopped commenting on the video. They can be repressed desires. I think you ever read in your bible about not judging lest we be judged.
dear andros 1ful, no desire to be a nun, I am a male and with a mind unsuited to minimal "worldly" contact. Looks like you are trying to judge me or my state of mind "repressed desires"!, just in case you still think "judging" is wrong,.....depends what kind of judging (you would agree). Could it not also be that I am sincere and mature if I thought that the vocation of contemplatives is pretty much wasted lives, wasted families, and illusions...are you reading enough other literature other than the Catholic publications, do so, dare to be challenged...you can pray before and after so that you will not be seduced by any heretical notions, but read! all the very best to you! READ!
You do realize Protestant monasticism exists correct? Are you familiar with the desert fathers? If not you might want to familiarize yourself with them and why they fled to the desert..monasticism is a special call..did you not watch the video? Each person has a state in this life as ordained by God..not everyone can be an Elijah on Carmel..learn about the beauty of the ascetic life before you go casting stones
what we need is respect and understanding. yes we have different religions now, and so? people can have their individual choices.. so instead of contradicting the teachings or beliefs of the other churches, why cant we simply respect them and live in peace with them? you think opposing the other will make your own better? if we are indeed following or believing in God, "whoever" you God is, then live and follow His ways. Stop comparing your own religion to the others.
What a waste of 11 lives.. they left their families, broke their parent's hearts, gave up becoming mothers and grandmothers, wear goofy medieval costumes.. all to sing and praise a spirit man who lives up in the clouds..
Such vitriol! But let's work on your use of commas and apostrophes before we delve any deeper into the religious exegesis. Oh: it sorta seems like you have no real personal interest in viewing videos on faith and spirituality and are here solely to criticize and throw a fit. Forgive me if I'm wrong but, have you thought about taking up something more life affirming than getting all worked up in front of a computer screen? Take a walk, get some fresh air. Look for UFOs. Study grammar. Blessings!
contemplation does have its place...part of life, but prayer and contemplation simply will not do..it's not even scriptural. "the desert" was for Jesus a time of trials and preparation (not seclusion). Jesus' life is a contrast to the contemplative life, If prayer and contemplation would have been enough than He would have just done that and He would have told His disciples to do the same...see not scriptural !
...even the elect are seduced (or can be!)...you must pray and be sincere about it. seclusion from society is not the way Jesus lived, or would recommend...faith(contemplative life) without works is dead. come out and live even forever...!
In the garden of Gethsemane, Christ prays alone. He told his two disciples he's going to pray to His Father. The two disciples didn't go with him up in a Hill.
...no, no, no, we are asked to interact with the world..to be "in the world" interpreting the bible to one's convenience is not the way...that's why there are so many churches and "orders". Basically, people who leave the world or sacrifice their nature are not doing anyone any good: themselves, the world or God. prove it otherwise and the Bible is contradictory. Take your pick!
Beautiful. Thank you so much for your perseverance, love and prayers for the world. God bless you all.
I love this group, they were so hospitable when I was visiting Eindhoven
Many blessings to my Sisters...I miss you! I am happy to see you are all doing so well! With love, Phillip

ofcourse, what Christian could not think that?
Jesus tells us to "go into a room and close the door". Pray alone.
