@@DonnyZofChaos Stop what? What are you raving about? The only species that make music, that we know of, are humans. I asked what others do you know that could have done the same. Of course it has to be a living species, because inorganic matter doesn't really do much, now does it? It's either a living thing, or it's not. You said you cannot fathom how a human could have written something like this. And I told you there are no other candidates for the task.

This album is so ambitious and mesmerizing, to compile nearly three hours of music into a triple album for his debut? While Robert Glaspers Black Radio pushed jazz further, Kamasi has shoved it over the hill? Had the honor of watching him at the blue note and briefly meeting him after. One of the greatest living musicians and this is ONLY album one
    Keeping Black music alive

At 4:33 ... I know that the purpose of this song is totally different from what I feel at this very moment, I know that the meaning for "love" that this song tries to express serves to another meaning, but, I have to say, I am surrended, no matter how much weight to take life forward force me to give up, in this small moment that I quoted, I gain breath, and I realize that I need to continue, why? Why ... it's like this, this is LIFE, this is living, in that small moment, I realize that I reach a limit, then I stop, I gain breath and I see that I have the strength to continue facing whatever challenge is ahead, a breath that I was waiting and gives me POWER to keep gowing and not give up, this is something that only music, that little moment in time like this can provide me, I cant express this feeling literally, I can only tell you that this is powerfull enough to keep me STRONG, and makes me LUCID, AWAKENED, and ALERT to the LIFE, this forces me to understand that the best of EVERYTHING is yet to come.
People, there is no formula, there is no secret or recipe to be full and complete, just look at yourselves and understand that EVERYTHING you ALL need is already there with you, just listen to yourself and you will be well. "Askim" for LIFE. Greetings from a friend from somewhere.

This music is amazing and IT'S NEW, as a huge fan of Coltrane, Sanders, Brotzmann, Sun Ra, and any and all avante garde jazz musicians, it makes me so so so happy to know that someone is carrying on this music and mindset in such a well done way. I have a new favorite Jazz Musician.

This whole album is awesome! Is it me, or does this song sound kinda reminiscent of "Like Sonny" by John Coltrane? I know they're two completely different songs, but it sounds like both songs have similar tensions and resolutions throughout. Try humming or playing the melody of Like Sonny along with one of the solos and you can really hear it. Just though it was kinda cool since Kamasi seems to be heavily influenced by Trane...

Cole Bronson Its hard to say do to the free jazz nature of the drumming. However, as a drummer myself, I happened to notice that as a tap my foot to tempo most of his snare accents land on the downbeat and it seems as thought quarter notes receive "one beat". This leads me to believe that its something like 12/4. Its been a long while since I have had any type of musical theory, but I have heard Jazz that has seemed to be much harder to play along to. This stuff rocks.

Cole Bronson It's subdivisions of 6/8 or 4/4, but the a section of the melody is phrased so it feels like 5+3 in the grouping of 8/4.

Is this in 4/4, or is it one bar of 4, one bar of 6, and then another bar of 6?
