This is an awesome router. Signal strength is amazing. 20db's stronger than my old Linksys dual band at 2.4Ghz. I was running two AP's, but now this my only AP/router in a house with concrete walls and floors. I am running over 200Mb/s from the farthest reaches of the house. i suspect the beam forming feature has a lot to do with this improvement. Worth every penny.

Thanks for this great review! I have still one question in mind, I am looking for a ac3200 router but still not clear about buying this tp link or netgear ac3200. It is important for me to have a good signal in a huge distance(about 100m). I saw that the netgear support DFS Channel thing, (which I actuele don't know what it is but ) but do you know which one performs better on a greater distance? Thanks!
+C Özen 100m is a lot.. You should probably use multiple ones of this once the AP mode update is released, or go with multiple netgear routers.

How does this compare to the C5400?
I'm looking to but this becuz of ip scrambler, them booters are annoying as shit. Also, can I use my regular router fiber optic cable and plug it into here, or do I need a special card??

TP-Link AC3200 & netgear ac1900.. witch one is better? I bought both and need to return one. performance looks the same so far. netgear seems have more functionality on the app. but AC3200 is tri band.. it is driving me crazy~!~ help~!!

what about dlink ac5300?
it was an awesome router that I've used for many years....BUT since tplink decided not to support it anymore and also lately the two usb 3.0/2.0 ports for some reason can't handle large files anymore. When I try to upload a large file to one of my attached drives, it works for the first two minutes and then the drives are no longer recognized unless I power cycle it. So I decided to no longer purchase tplink. My new router is the Asus rt-ax58u (Amazon Renewed $89) and it's incredible so far (knock on wood). Blazing fast, and unlike the archer ac3200 you can plug many hard drives via usb hub to its usb 3.0 port. I was able to upload large files and stream at the same time without any problem. I also love Asus GUI, tp's was simple and ugly.
Anyone put dd-wrt on one of these? Just purchased one for 100$ and going to use it with my starlink.

I've decided not to do other router reviews until AD is available. Something like the c5400 won't perform much better than the 3200 because almost no devices have quad-band antennas anyway.

The stronger the signal, the more flies you're gonna attract. What about security ? WPA2 can easily be hacked now. I'll bet one of those $5 esp8266 boards on ebay can cripple it in under 4 seconds ! No 'Protected Mgmt Frames' option right ?

Netgear and ASUS seem to be the better option. For me it's always going to be the question can I install third party software / firmware if not then il pass.
This does support ddwrt. So this would be better option for speed and feature with ddwrt if ddwrt have great wifi adapter drivers.
