    Idk..I've been studying UI/UX design and they recommend putting the logo in the lefthand corner because that's where people are used to seeing it. Also, the hero section picture is so busy the entire thing looks extremely overwhelming and is lacking visual hierarchy in my opinion. Sorry, I'm not trying to give unsolicited advice, but these things are important for web design and perhaps someone in the comments will run across this info and find it useful. Great content though!!!!

    Hey Ashlyn! I'm a proud PTL student and can't thank you enough for the help you've given me to create my own launch/editorial calendar. Really looking forward to your next round of CFC (I'll be ready to join!). I'd love to start implementing your guidelines to my homepage to the best of my knowledge until I join CFC. If you don't mind, I have one question, what exactly is the break it down now process?

    • @AshlynWrites
      @AshlynWrites  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Priyanka! Ah! Got it-that's an "Ashlynism" and what we call it with our clients and students when we're asking them to have a section or canvas on the landing page dedicated to helping the prospect see that it's (in essence) as "easy as 1-2-3." So many times we give them a ton of info, and that's a good thing, but the point of that section is to boil it down and simplify the message by showing them "look, we've given you a lot here, but you can start with X, do Y, and achieve Z ... it's really that simple." I hope that helps!

    • @priyanka7264
      @priyanka7264 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much, Ashlyn! I had an inkling that's what it meant - at first, it sounded like a breakdown of the business owner/creative's workflow or process, but you once said during a live stream that sharing workflows on the home page might be excessive. So that's why I asked. Thank you for clarifying!

      @@priyanka7264 Thank you for asking this! I wasn't sure, but Ashlyn's explanation makes perfect sense.

    I love your content and have learned a ton from it. I am curious however what specific advise you would give people whose websites are home for their blogs and writing primarily. Writers platforms and blogger websites seem like they might be set up a little differently. I have been working on applying your 12 sections to an author website but I am not sure exactly what that would look like XD

    • @AshlynWrites
      @AshlynWrites  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey, Bekah! It's always nice to hear from another writer. :) Ok-I know exactly what you're talking about (I think)-if your BLOG page functions as your HOME page, how do you apply these things?
      If I'm hearing you correctly, I'm still in the camp that you need a home page like I've talked about, but your big kahuna that you're driving off your homepage to would be your blog page (rather than "reach out for services), because THAT is what monetizes your business. So most your links to get started or take the next step would likely point to various blog posts.
      Is that what you're asking? I had a blog-first website from 2009-2012. Obviously I work with more folks (even authors!) who monetize APART FROM their posts, so if you monetize in any capacity (editing services, consulting services, partnerships, books, etc.) beyond your blog, I would let your homepage function separately from your blog content.

      @@AshlynWrites I definitely have a home page. My website is a home base as I work to make a platform for pursuing publishing. So I am not necessarily trying to make money on it as much as I am building a following. The parts that I am struggling with are these:
      What sort of social proof would a beginner writer have?
      And in your 12 steps you mention a break down of the process. I'm not sure how this would look on a writer/bloggers website.
      And lastly (although this might just be a me issue) I am STUCK writing my sentence for the hero.
