In this video, I'll teach you the four-step copywriting process our agency uses to write compelling website copy that sells.
I'll take you through the important set-up stage, helping you to prepare for writing great copy by getting your copywriting project organised properly. It might not sound like fun, but it's a crucial step in creating pages that convert well.
I'll then take you through the research stage. This is where the best high-converting landing pages are defined. Without research, there's no way to know what your pages' content should look like.
Importantly, you need to know which type of language you website needs. People don't engage with boring business copy. They only get sucked in by relatable Plain English copy that speaks to them and addresses their problems.
You need to speak in benefits, not features. This is something I cover better in the video, but people don't buy features. They buy benefits.
Someone doesn't buy a Lamborghini Urus because it has a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. No. They buy it because it's wicked fast and they feel fantastic when they drive it.
I also talk about the goals of a page. It always surprises me how many prospective client websites I look at which are full of pages without goals.
There has to be something for the page's reader to do. Whether they need to click a button, fill out a form, or download an eBook. People need something to do and when before you start writing you need to have this goal in mind.

And at the end of the video I'll share a six-point checklist with you that we use to make sure every page we create is set-up to succeed every single time.

Great video. Do you have any advice for luxury brands trying to balance an elevated tone with the need for writing from an SEO perspective?
Great question! Many startup luxury brands focus too much on copying established luxury brands, who rely on huge brand equity to make the sale and don't need to worry about things like pesky content or product images.
There are a couple considerations:
1. You can use blog/content sections on the site to do a lot of the 'content heavy lifting' for the site, so you don't have to compromise sparse design on eCom-focussed pages too much.
2. Take a look at sites like Apple, who have brought back the long-form sales letter, but in a highly-designed way. Loooooong product pages that take you through a gorgeous sales pitch for whatever phone or ipad they're selling. The product is the star, but there's loads of copy on these pages talking about each of the different features
