On my ls I put the SS fin on the trunk lid and pulled it all together. The whole car was painted like a cobalt blue even the trim except around the windows. I also deleted the column shift and did the center console shifter like the SS as well
@bballxp001 yeah its a lil diff. the tube puts the filter to the outer edge of the eng. bay so it brings in cool outside air. my style is a universal style but it still has more airflow over the traditional white paper filter plus the are washable and u re-oil them with the right kit. they sell them at the parts store
@sikkchaos thanks man. i still got the stock rear axle for now. i just decoced it and it has 2.41 gears lol. i didnt know they made them that low! i dont want to sink money into that axle. would rather build an 8.5" but for the $ people want for a used housing i might as well do the 9". but i would like to keep it looking original even on the rearend. i dont know im torn. ive never dyno'd it yet. but im far from done...
im going to get a aluminum polished radiator eventually. jegs sell them universal type for about 170$ you just have to measure your area or get on autozones website, put your car in and look at a radiator, click info and it will give you the dimensions. just stay under that number but close as possible. my cam is comp cams
thanks! i have around $6500 in complete swap and engine build. i bought everything new and had to swap from a v-6, so i had to buy everything. i didnt quite do the block as nasty as i wanted but theres always next time. also needing to build a rearend...
16 or 18" from jegs. comes with mounting tabs. checkout there website if youre not familiar with them. huge race parts place, they even have there own race team and are making their own parts now. great prices too
@ballerdmark thanks man! just do whatever your style is and dont cut any corners. i went with the serpintine belt kit to make it look new school under the hood while keeping the outside original w/ the ralleys. had to go with the indy 500 letters though.
I'm close to Dayton. Update I'm currently stroking my block w/ an eagle kit. Putting in a bigger all roller cam and aluminum heads and a bigger stall(around 3000 rpm) Also scooped up a 8.5" posi rear end out of an 87 grand national w/ 3:42 gears.
beautiful i must say.. got myself a 81 monte ss.. in the process of 4 linking the rear end, and tubing her.. what gears you runnin.. rwhp numbers? cuz she sounds like a good 6000 rpm screamer.. good job, s always good to have another fella with one of these beautes
@MacTr86 thanks! i'm not sure yet, but probably 3:73 gears w/ some sort of posi differential, i been looking into auburn or an eaton that is fully rebuildable. would love to get a grandnational housing but people want an arm and a leg for one.
@MrJohnnyDistortion a/c coming soon and rear axle build, i dont leave it outside, garage bolted shut w/baby monitor security system. picks up every sound lol. tape on the plate, i keep the haters and the cops away. lol on the internet all they need is a tag # to find u! but i do have a steel column gaurd/lock to keep the rookie thiefs away when im out in her...i have way more than 10 in her so far, not counting my labor time, and im not cheap lol thanx for the love bro!
i ended up going with a www.championradiators.com setup was around $400 for a aluminum 3 core radiator w/ electric fan and custom stainless shroud that the fan mounts to. Real nice setup I originally had a stock style radiator and used the zip tie things that come with electric fans I don't recommend using those cause over time they rub into your coolant tubes and will make the radiator leak eventually...2 summers and mine was close to being rubbed through
i love these style ralleys too! i recently found the factory monte style aftermarket center caps new on ebay and they look alot better than the el camino ones i had on it. the
Derrick Wilson no I didn't have any problem with that. There was plenty of room. The bracket setup came off a 4.3 s10 same as the early 90s full size truck too. Gm performance parts sells an exact kit with everything.
I'm doing a motor swap when u wired up the hei distributor and and the electric choke on the carb did u use the wires that were there already? or did u run your own ? and do u still have your ecm computer connected? if u can help me out will be appreciated
i just have a copper oem style radiator, with a thick core. i picked it up at o'reilly auto parts for , 130$ stay away from the plastic side tank radiators. those are junk. they always crack over time from the temp changes.
@MrJohnnyDistortion well johnny there was snow on the ground and thats as far as she goes in the snow. i only pulled her out to make a video. i would have to have $10,000 out of her
looks cleaner and clutch fan robs horsepower cause it's just another thing the motor has to turn...I have a newer video where I stroked it to 383 and cleaned up the engine bay a lot
@schreck81 Ah,the snow.And salt.Don't blame you.I can see 10G perhaps.Serpentine belt.Electrric fan.No A/C?Any tranny/axle/suspension upgrades?Heck of a nice M/C,SS or not.These are great cars to build up,obviously.Clean.Starts right up.Envious.Anti Theft?Check out/Google - Ravelco or Never Defeated.One in the same.Tape on the plate? ;-) Enjoy.
Kinda. Lol. I put the motor together and put it in. I didn't build this motor, just put everything on it then put it in. Then I broke it. Lol. I just rebuilt this block myself to a 383 stroker. Got aluminum FloTek heads. Motha
I've totally rebuilt it to a 383 stroker since this video. Check my other video it looks way better. I had about $6500 in completely converting from the v6 to the setup in this video. Exhaust and all

Did you you have to use a smaller power steering pump pulley because of the pulley touching the ps box
Derrick Wilson no I didn't have any problem with that. There was plenty of room. The bracket setup came off a 4.3 s10 same as the early 90s full size truck too. Gm performance parts sells an exact kit with everything.
