your videos and photos on Mitakon played a significant role in purchasing this lens. Now I'm waiting because it will be delivered in a week. thank you friend
Great video, recently picked up the 50R and am loving it. The Mitakon will be my next purchase, I have the Voightlander Nokton 58 1.4 converted from Nikon and am hoping for similar results. Forget the noise from the haters bro, your work is great.
Yeah manual focusing can be a bit of a challenge and for a while I was struggling so much with the Mitakon but after a few months I had gotten comfortable with it
Great setup. The 51.4 MP sensor has incredible dynamic range. Much larger photo sites than the 100 iterations. Not the that the 100s is not fantastic. I own 3 iterations of the 50, i.e. 2 x 50S and a 50S ll which is great for image stabilisation.
I bought a Mitakon 65/1.4 XCD mount. I do not like electronic shutter only on X1D, or any XCD mount camera for that. There is nothing wrong I wanna complain about the lens. I also bought a GFX 50S used, and it's showing up later today. I already have Mamiya Sekor C 55/2.8, 80/1.9 and 110/2.8 ready for it with an adapter, as well as Pentax 75/2.8, 120/4, 150/2.8 and 200/4 also with an adapter. I will have a comparison of X1D, 645Z and GFX50S hopefully soon with all these lenses.
One thing you didn't mention that frelled me was you have to switch the dial to m (S, C, M dial) on the body before focus peaking will work. At least on the GFX 50s.
I appreciated you saying you found a look you've been looking for. I made this same jump a few months ago, the exact setup with the 50s and the MItakon and immediately made the same observation. I was more skittish wandering with my Sony but with the GFX and Mitakon at my waist I feel entirely in my own world and I love most of the images that come out of it.
Love the look here. I was curious what the crop factor/field of view (x1.27?) would be when adapting a Mamiya 45mm (645) lens to GFX. It seems to be the equivalent of a 57mm. I know it's substantially cheaper than the GFX 45mm, but does it bother you at all that the lens wouldn't be as wide? Something like the Pentax 35mm would actually be the same field of view (45mm) on GFX from what I can tell.
Try a Contax/Yashica Carl Zeiss Planar 100mm f2 (MMJ or AEG). Similar to the Mitakon but more optimized for close up portraits while I feel like the Mitakon is like better for full body or environmental portraits. Both can work either way though.
Great video and photography, i love your style. I too own the 50s and i adore it. I have the gf50 3.5 and the 35-70 currently. Can i ask which seller you bought your mitakon from? There's lots of various sellers from china on ebay, if just a bit weary of who to go with. Thanks in 😢
Thank you! I bought it from a seller called shotenkobo. eBay can be quite a dodgy place with camera stuff but the lens came well packaged and was fast with shipping
How is it possible that so little people give you a like for such a nice video? If people hate you for having a little bit older gear that produces beautiful pictures they are not even worth to ignore them…! But if I watch this video where you say you will never change the system and even repair it and a couple of months later you sort everything it’s kind of said

I hope you enjoy! It's a lovely lens

Cheers! How is the voigtlander on the GFX? A lot of vignette or is it decent?
@@taranspictures There's some vignetting wide open, but it clears up around f2. It's the manual focusing that is making it a challenge.

Nice work! And, thanks for the helpful information
Cheers, hope I helped!

I would love to see the comparison!
I really like the look of Mamiya 45mm! Is there any chance to get some raw samples to look at these portraits u did? ❤
Give me a message on Instagram and I'll sort it out!
@@taranspictures done!
Great to have discovered you. Subscribed 😊
Thank you:)

Good point! I thought my camera was broken before when the focus peaking wasn't working, little did I realise that it was just the manual switch

The crop factor of the GFX is 0.79 so a 45mm would be a 35mm and a 35mm would be 28(ish)

100mm is way too tight for my liking, even the mitakon feels tight at times

@@taranspictures thanks for the reply, can you remember how much import duty you paid?
I think it was somewhere around the £150-200 area
@@taranspictures thanks buddy
which f-stop do you use for the close up headshots?
Usually 1.4 but sometimes 2

Nah I just know one of his mates from uni
@@taranspictures ah I see! Sorry for the random question haha
