Thank you for pointing this out!!! Excellent video and I am so impressed with the quality. It can't be overstated...we are mainly from West Africa. Mostly Nigeria actually, then Ghana, Cameroon, Gambia and in the St. Thomas area Congo where the culture is preserved in our Kumina where Lingala from Congo is spoken. In all Maroon towns there is mainly an Akan heritage and presence from Ghana and in Clarendon, Westmoreland and St. Catherine's there are larger numbers of people from Yoruba, Urhobo and Ibo peoples for example in Westmoreland there is the village of Abeokuta which means 'City under the Rock' in Nigeria (Yoruba). We have a very rich African culture and it is a shame many do not want to acknowledge this rich and most relevant part of Jamaican Culture. Our herbs tell much of this story. What is so ironic about the history of Jamaica is people who don't even born, and grow up there. Can you more than who born and grew up there almost 7decades,also the younger generation. Most of them does not have proper knowledge of what they are saying, they are trying to learned off their own because of their egos. I born come see my grandparents who was a herbalists, they can tell all the different bushes .For the different complains or sicknesses and, most of the herbs in Jamaica does not come from Africa at all. The Africans came and saw them in Jamaica, is when people sick. They try it out of the sick ones and, see the results after taking it.I know a lots of herbs for different complains, but since the medical doctors is so plentiful in Jamaica and. They have so much pharmaceutical companies in Jamaica, also the country and the world. Most people becomes too sophisticated to used the Bush doctors in Jamaica, or the herbalists men them anymore. All what they are going around, ganja is one of the best medicine in the world. But because the pharmaceutical companies them Don t want to know, the government joining up with them and. Sending people to prison, because they called it illegal drugs.
Because the government is not collecting no taxes from the ganja trade, and they are collecting big taxes from the pharmaceutical companies them. But what that white lady was saying about where most of the black people came from in Africa, it is not true. Most of the black people came to Jamaica from Africa, is Ghana, not no Congo, and another country.
There is too much people want to rewrite the history of Jamaica, and they does not know the intricacies about the history of Jamaica. There is a lot of things want to correct in the Jamaican history ,because the people them who wrote the country. They didn't know the place, or lived there a day.It is full time that black people should open up their brains, and know that some of the things. We were thought in school by the Whiteman ideologies and philosophy they indoctrinated us, but some people cannot adjust to the real facts. In Jamaica there two tribes came from Africa named Ashanti and the Khmaranti, also the language they spoke. Named akan we fooled by the Whiteman ideologies and philosophy they indoctrinated us, by our slaves masters.A lot of those books need to throw out of the library, because it only packed by Whiteman ideologies and philosophy they used indoctrinated us. Sometimes you will see two black people in general quarreling over, certain words.who is right from who is wrong, which is only by the Whiteman own interpretation and. The black man does not have his own interpretation at all, because the same black people in general is going to say our language is no good.

Europeans brought Africans to Jamaica . First the Spanish then the British. The oldest families in Jamaica are of European ancestry. We in Jamaica do not have the same caustic relationship those in America have with their White Americans.

I assume ur talking about WEST “Africa”, a word that the ppl on that landmass don’t even call themselves until encountering Western society. West Africans don’t eat the same thing as Jamaicans nor dance like Jamaicans. I’ve lived with West Africans, so I know what I’m talking about! Ya’ll are starting to dance like us, and try to claim our culture as ur own! Truth to be told!
