Never Scan, Only Priority Scan

In this video I demonstrate the difference between Scan and Priority Scan.
Scanning channels with a Public Safety Radio can be dangerous because important transmissions can be missed if care is not taken to ensure priority scan operation only.
During regular scan an active channel is locked on until the end of the transmission, regardless of activity on other channels. During priority scan the designated priority channel is constantly checked for activity. If it detects activity it will cease all scanning and lock on to the priority transmission until complete.
True monitoring of 2 channels requires 2 radios. Scan features are cool toys, but should be used with extreme caution in Fire Service, and only when needed, and only in Priority Mode.
