Jon hasn't finished the crypts dream, so there's no way he's not a POV character. Plus GRRM write for the heart in conflict, and Jon has not completed his own heart-in-conflict arc. Forgoing him as a POV character and missing out on his internal dialogue and struggle when he learns his true parentage etc., for the sake of maintaining a Pattern-of-One non-POV after death? That's not his style at all. He writes the story in the most interesting way.

I've said it for years... We've already seen Jon's resurrection take place in the story: Khal Drogo.
The only difference is that a wolf will be used instead of a horse. And since Jon is INSIDE that wolf, it'll be putting HIS mind back into his body. Drogo had a horse be put into his body, but had Drogo been a warg that warged into that horse when he died, then that spell would have "resurrected" Khal Drogo. That's the same spell that will be used on Jon.

My favorite theory I've seen so far is the idea that Jon will walk out of his own funeral pyre. Something to do with skinchanging into Ghost, watching his own body bleed out and die, Mel giving him some sort of funeral rights as the Watch throws him on the fire, and it healing him instead of cremating him.
Do I think it's the most likely? Probably not, since the repercussions are more on the PTSD side instead literally losing a piece of yourself side, but it is my favorite since this way Jon DOES lose something- the ability to deny his magical girl destiny. Sorry, champ, you are a wolf, the old gods didn't give you a puppy just for emotional support. Oh, you want nothing to do fire magic? Too bad, the red god likes you too. Plus, he gets to join Dany in the bald club.

I personally think that Ghost and Val are going to be involved in Jons resurrection. I think Val is kinda similar to Melisandre but with the old gods instead of Rhollor. I think Jon will be reborn by the magic of the Others into a wight and warging into Ghost until his body starts moving again.
The chapters involving the Others make it pretty obvious they’re searching for someone in the Night’s Watch, most likely Jon though I can only theorize as to why. Before he dies, Jon feels cold. Now that could easily be him bleeding out, but what if it’s the Others bringing the cold with them? It’s been established that anyone killed by the Others join their ranks as wights but so do heavily decayed and recent corpses touched by their cold.
All the Stark children are wargs, so I have no doubt Ghost will be important in Jon’s resurrection; he’ll wait inside of Ghost until the Others start controlling his body and then he’ll warg back into it, fighting for control.
Martin says the most compelling stories are the ones involving the human heart in conflict. What’s more conflicting than Jon fighting for control of his own body?
Thematically, I think this fits with the parallels between Jon and Dany; first love dies; families are intertwined in visions and prophecies; one will have been reborn in fire, the other in ice.

I believe Jon didn't die, but just got wounded, and instinctually skinchanged into Ghost to escape the pain he wasn't consciously aware of yet. I believe wounds unlock latent magical abilities, which is why Bran had to fall from the tower in a Game of Thrones, and Patchface and Aeron Greyjoy had to almost drown. I think all of them survived, and are not undead or resurrected in any way, but all of them improved their magical abilities through the experience.
Magic isn't free or easy, but what would be more powerful than to sacrifice your health, and have a high risk of dying in order to achieve it? And I don't think it necessarily has to be intentional either. Sacrificing others is the easy way out. What kind of sacrifice is someone you don't care about? And what does it to do you if you do it? Sacrificing parts of yourself, like Bran's legs, or Patchface's or Damphair's sanity would be far less selfish and probably not have the same corruption associated with it.
So if Jon sacrificed something valuable to him, what would it be? I want him to change in significant ways.

I've always wanted to spend some time debating an extremely strong parallel between the movements and elements in both Jon and Dany's narratives. If you want more on it, it's a much bigger theory.
In summary for this video's topic, as Dany has escaped a moment of Chaos, assumed dead, and in the grass sea, Jon should go through something that at the very least reflects these movements. He should escape in or with ghost beyond the Wall. Likely, but not certainly ending up at the Fist. This suggests an Ice version but there's still wiggle room for something else.
My argument is that Jon being resurrected is cool, but would more likely result in a fear reaction rather than awe and respect. Especially from Wildlings. He would need to accomplish something that would override the fear. Making a deal with the Others to allow the Wildlings from Hardhome to reach the Wall safely should result in some level of trust.
Depending how heavily his story matches Dany's it's possible his body will disappear in the chaos at the Wall. Already animated or dragged by Benjen/Tormond/Val into the haunted forest. There is no logical reason to preserve his body rather than burn it at the Wall. Preserving it is a logic dependent on an assumption of reviving it.
If it's Ice, then begin raised by the Others makes the most logical sense. This would result in Jon gaining new allies for his return to power similar to our assumption that Dany will gain the Dothraki. There us a wildcard in thw mix. You missed Coldhands as a direct method of bringing Jon back. Coldhands could pass his reanimation on to Jon as Beric did to Cat. This would make sense as he helped Bran in a similar way Beric helped Arya.

Jon has a dream that he has a flaming sword and he's armored in ice. I personally think it will be a combination of Otherization and then fire magic cleansing him of the blue eyes, or something to that effect. Also, recall Leaf telling Bran to not attempt to bring someone back from the dead. She wouldn't tell him that if resurrection via green magic was impossible.
In direct response to your video, I don't think Catelyn losing POV status is indicative of Jon losing POV status, but rather, to prevent us from understanding the POV of an undead character UNTIL Jon comes back. I think Beric, Cat, and Coldhands are all foreshadowing for Jon's state once his resurrection is complete, however it is complete.

One thing we need to keep in mind with the resurrections, is that neither Beric nor Catelyn came back being completely themselves. Quite the opposite. Catelyn's body was left for a few days in the elements which would contribute to the state of what she looks like when she came back, and Beric has been losing his personality little by little every time he came back. The difference with Jon Snow, is that - again theorizing here - if he indeed warged into Ghost right before he died, then his soul never went anywhere far for him to not be himself when/if he is resurrected. Beric and Catelyn died completely, and their souls went wherever souls are supposed to go in the ASOIAF universe. What I'm taking too many words to say, is that Jon's "vessel" sort of died, but his soul remained in the material world. While Beric's and Catelyn's souls didn't. That's the reason why I think that, while Catelyn and Beric are essentially wights - admittedly by George R.R. Martin himself - just fire wights instead of ice wights like the ones beyond the Wall, if Jon gets resurrected, he won't be a wight in the same way at least.

After his whole ordeal ends, missing fingers and other appendages, Theon has an epiphany and becomes a Godly man that would make his Uncle Damphair proud. He slinks away from Stannis and makes his way back to Castle Black in time to see his childhood friend hit the floor. He takes the salt he was just offered, tosses aside the bread for now, makes a snowball and forces the salt inside. He jams it down Jon's throat, cutting off his last breaths. The stab wounds do not have time to kill his body before he "drowns" and then Theon on gives him CPR or the drowned kiss or whatever and he rises again, what is dead may never die, or something.

When did George said Stannis will burn Shireen? He never confirmed it, as far as I know.
Stannis even refused to burn "innocent people" before, so IDK...
My headcanon (up until Winds is finished) is: Mel and Selyse (a religious zealot) will burn Shireen to try to resurrect Stannis, who both of them believe is Azor Ahai, after reading the pink letter stating he's dead. And Jon will be accidentally resurrected.
If Stannis wrote the pink letter, he'll consider himself responsible of Shireen's death, and he will be devastated. Probably he'll quit his throne aspirations, and will kill Selyse and even Mel.
Also, when Mel finds out that Jon is the one her god resurrected when she tried to resurrect Azor Ahai, her faith will crumble, and will probably left Westeros. Even Selyse could kill herself.
It's kinda a terrible, tragic, but perfect ending to Team Stannis
I'm just talking about Shireen's death. Jon's resurrection will be more complex than what I said (Ghost will be involved too, and yadda yadda).
    Great video!

One interesting thing is that Stoneheart isn't technically "changed" but rather her thoughts are "frozen in time", since seeking justice for her son was the last thing on her mind. This is very interesting since we don't know what is the last thing on Jon's mind, but it will likely be revealed after he is resurrected. We only know he says "Ghost" but that could be either his direwolf or perhaps something related to the crypts and his parents "being ghosts" in his life, or who knows, maybe bloodraven sent him a dream before his last breath.

TBH I dont think Jon will be changed by his resurrection in the same way that Catelyn was because his mind is being preserved in Ghost. Beric's change was gradual over the course of several deaths that were short lived tough he ultimately changed a lot, and Catelyn's death was drastic over one death but she stayed dead for days before being resurrected, implying that the longer youre dead and the more you die the more your mind is warped. Jon will probably be dead for days before being resurrected but his mind will be preserved in ghost so i dont think itll be as drastic a change as Catelyn's resurrection. BUT I think there will still be a change as Varamyr's prologue established that the longer youre warged the more animalistic and feral you because so instead of seeing a crueler more vengeful and warped Jon i think we'll see a more feral and primal and wolf-like Jon. He'll grow aggressive and impulsive and animalistic as opposed to growing colder like Catelyn and Beric did.

Is the Night's Watch funeral rite have to be spoken, the words "And now his watch has ended" need to be said and accepted by the whole watch in order to ensure Jon is really not beholden to his vows when he comes back and not just a technicality. 2. As mush as none of us want it, I think Ghost has to die, the Direwolves names all represent their owners story direction (Sansa and murder of Lady, murder of her innocence. Robb and Greywind being a powerful short burst. Rickon and Shagydog being mostly irrelevant in the end.) meaning Ghost most likely being Jon's Stark ghost/ past. With this I imagine a scene where what ever resurrections thing they attempt failing and them deciding to burn his body, Night's Watch and Wildlings and other witnesses gathered and Night's Watch words said, pyre alighting before Ghost leaps onto the burning pyre. Moments pass before the figure of Jon stands and walks from the burning pyre (white haired now). Giving us in my opinion the final thing I think need to happen. 3. Jon's Dany moment mirroring the end of book 1. And as for Ghost, part of him could live on in Jon's mind giving Jon the theorised Wolfish nature occasionally, that actually being Ghost.

The Azor Ahai legend seems to imply that the legendary figure had the Ahearn of a white walker, which lends to the "ice resurrection" option.

He'll be replaced as our Wall POV by either Eddison Tollett or Mance Rayder. I believe that Jon's revival won't be in Melisandre's perspective, even the magic might be interesting. Even after Jon's revival, which I'm hoping will be around the 2/3 or 3/4 mark in the book, Mance or Edd could both be cool POV characters, and I don't think Jon will stay as a POV after his revival, although maybe we'll get one chapter for Jon that he spends warged into Ghost. If he gets a warg chapter, maybe he'll stay as a POV. I think there will be a Ghost chapter with Jon warged into Ghost for the sole reason of: it would be cool
I also think Willas will be a POV for a Tyrell plotline but that might end up being Olenna

Rather than being consigned to an ice cell, I think Jon’s body will be burned in a funeral pyre that thematically mirrors Drogo’s at the end of AGoT. I don’t see why the Night’s Watch mutineers would store Jon’s body. I think while the pyre is lit, Ghost (with Jon’s soul inside) will walk into the fire and similar to how Daenerys was unharmed Jon will be back in his own body unburnt. I think Ghost’s body will be consumed in the fire and afterwards Jon and Ghost will share a duel consciousness in his human body.
It’s not a 1:1 thing but it definitely fits the pattern of “burn a king’s body and some crazy magic shit can happen.” There’s also inherent magic present just by being at the Wall.

I believe not only Jon warged into Ghost, but also, Ghost and/or Shireen will have to die in order to bring him back. But when he does, he will become a more darker and more brutal character, he will become like Dark Raiden in Mortal Kombat or Stephen Strange Supreme in What If...? He won't be evil, he'll still be a good guy (for lack of a better word) but he will not take anymore BS, and do what he will have to do to survive and (possibly later) take back his home. I also think it be a cool visual if he had one Blue eye and one Red eye.

I think that the Night King from the tv show is an edited adaptation of undead Jon. Jon and Bran seem to have some sort of psychic connection in the books, similar to Bran and the Night King in the show.
That’s why the Night King came out of nowhere in the show with his name clumsily introduced. He was meant to be Jon, but the show runners wanted to keep Jon as a heroic protagonist, rather than the leader of an icy army of doom.
(That’s why the Night King has a dragon too. Jon will kill one of Dany’s dragons and use it as an icy zombie dragon mount.)
I will die on this hill. Jon=Night King

Imagine Jon acting weird when eventually it is revealed that Bran was warging into him the entire time all the way from thay cave? All the way into Jon becoming the king? What if the white walkers broke through the wall just as Jon comes back for him to act as a messenger of doom? Going down to Stannis just as he wants to take Winterfell only to retreat leaving the Boltons to die at the hands of the Others? Seems like a cool theory in my mind :P

I think Jon staying dead for a third of Winds is an extremely conservative estimation. I’m fully expecting him to be dead and stuck in Ghost for nearly the entire duration of the book. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s resurrected at the tail end of Winds. Hell, the damn thing could end with his resurrection. And of course, that will be the end of the saga, seeing as how we’re never going to get DoS.

OK, hear me out. If Coldhands is the Night's King, and the Night's King was indeed a Stark, what if Jon is simply risen as an ice wight. Mayhaps those with Stark blood can't be fully risen as wights and that is the condition to end up as Coldhands. Also works if Coldhands is Benjen.
We don't get any Jon PoV's until Mel arrives late in the book and somehow purifies Jon, making him A Wight of Ice and Fire.
This would be the point we get his PoV back as he is closer to living than any other person who underwent resurrection.

@@kaiserfranzjoseph9311 Because the letter was written after Theon & "Arya" got away successfully. (No matter who has written it, that is a detail that only works with someone knowing that those two got away.) And the ravens were accounted for prior to the battle and they would take a while to reach Castle Black either way. So the events at the wall must have taken place atleast a few days after the start of the battle.
There is also Tycho Nestoris, who met with Jon, travelled to Deepwoood Motte and then to Winterfell. Especially with Winter being there that's a difficult task that took a while.
