I worked as a GS employee for the government, and there was a law put in effect years ago to counter outside influence on government officals. We were always reminded that we could not spend more than a certain amount of money on just a small gift around the holidays. Our system is about checks and balances to control any one branch or person to have too much power. I’m all in favor of term limits for Supreme Court justices. I found it ridiculous that they have lifetime appointments and have practically unlimited power thus being super legislators.

Every time they accept a speaking engagement or submit an article to a journal, they are asked if they have any relationship with any medical or pharmaceutical company. The constitution is supposed to neutralize the different ideologies of the different political view points. It has to be true to the constitution and not favor one party over another. If anyone thinks the court should be more liberal or more conservative then you don’t understand the purpose of the Supreme Court.
Even before this current version of the Court came into existence, there were questions. One of the classics being: Question. Is capital punishment constitutional according to the 8th Amendment? For the longest time, the answer was "yes". Then, some iteration of SCOTUS comes along and says "no". Wait a couple decades and ANOTHER version comes along and says "the previous decision was wrong; it is okay and always was". But the law itself didn't change! How is this possible?

Our system is about checks and balances to control any one branch or person to have too much power. Even before this current version of the Court came into existence, there were questions. One of the classics being:
Question. Is capital punishment constitutional according to the 8th Amendment? For the longest time, the answer was "yes". Then, some iteration of SCOTUS comes along and says "no". Wait a couple decades and ANOTHER version comes along and says "the previous decision was wrong; it is okay and always was". But the law itself didn't change! How is this possible?
