OK, this is awesome. This is not a song most people react to, it's such a great song and Uli just slays that guitar. Nice one! 🤘

Most don't react because majorty in the States weren't aware of the Scorpions until Bkackout therefore doesn't get suggested.
Majorty have no clue who Uli John Roth is

I admit, Blackout was the album that got me in to Scorpions but Taken By Force album ended up being my favorite.

Kudos to you guys for reacting to the early iteration of Scorpions with Ulrich Roth on lead guitar when they were truly a solid metal band. Not mainstream.

Just watched Scorpions doing Polar Nights live the other day. Uli Jon Roth singing and playing some phenomenal guitar. Also check out Another Piece Of Meat and Speedy's Coming. From back in the 70's when Scorpions still were hard rocking. Sadly ended after their 1982 album Blackout. Then they got more commercial.
Uli John Roth did some solo albums that had opera singers on them. He had a 2 year younger brother called Jochen who sadly died 6 years ago. He was called Zeno and had his own band under the same name. They were quite good. Check out Circles Of Dawn.

Ulli Jon Roth (Guitarist) said he always wanted to compose a violin concerto and this is the song he created with that inspiration. HIs song opening riffs are amazing.

Absolutely killer tune. Unfortunately it's the edited version, full version is 5:16. Not a huge amount but it makes a difference.
I lost interest in the Scorps after the Blackout album (which itself was far from their best, imo, but still had some decent stuff on it), but still dig their older stuff. One of the greatest hard rock bands ever. They not only had Uli, but Rudolph's brother Michael Schenker of the great UFO at one time as well.
Too bad about their bad blood. I hate seeing family fight each other. And no one fights like family.

In 1977, the Scorpions did a roughly 30-minute set on a Swiss TV show called Kaleidospop. You should react to some of the songs from that performance. I'd recommend 'In Trance', 'Dark Lady' & 'Robot Man'.

Here's a thought? How much do you think the early 1970's Scorpions influenced a band like Iron Maiden and the new wave of British Heavy Metal?
I remember listening to all this in the early 1980's. I heard The Zoo and all of the Blackout album, or hearing AC/DC Back in Black, it caused all of us to go back and listen to the entire catalog of each of these bands prior to them making it big! Awesome killer times!

You don't see many reviews of this earlier Scorpions song which has one awesome guitar solo at the start of the song in Uli John Roth's style. The Scorpions would grow and change and find commercial success in the U.S. the 80s and beyond.

Ah yes!70's Scorpions is the best Scorpions! They changed to a more commercial style in the 80's and it certainly worked as they became huge . I like 80's Scorpions too but I think the 70's version is a little more interesting. Try Hellcat,Dark Lady or Living and Dying. There are many great tunes as they released their first album in 72.

Some old school Scorpions from the Uli Jon Roth lead guitar era.. Many prefer that era as opposed when Uli left and Matias Jabs took over and their career took off with a slight change in approach and more accessible sound and vibe that made them superstars. For more from Uli, do We'll Burn the Sky, for Matias, do Animal Magnetism. They were great no matter what back in the 70s & 80s, they always kick butt. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶

Great reaction guys!! Absolutely LOVE this song.
Being a long-time lover of Scorpions' music, and knowing/speaking the German - it being a phonetic language makes a big impact on how people pronounce things in English. You can definitely tell Klaus Meine is singing in a language not his own - it's very clear - almost too clear! I've found the same with another German band, Boney M - how they pronounce words is perfect...as if they were saying things phonetically! Awesome sauce. Cheers!

  • @GummyBearWA

Uli was a flamenco guitarist before he joined the Scorpions. His idea for this song was to play the guitar lead first. At this time, none of them spoke English.

The usual pronunciation for Charon, the ferryman of the dead in Greek mythology, is "KARE-on", with the first syllable sounding like "care." Pluto's moon is often as said here. SHARE-on. Either is correct in casual talk. Consider the context I guess. My friend Ulich is called Uli. Said the same way you did and thank you for saying Scorpions, not "The" Scorpions LOL.

Like Odysseus, when this song from the Scorpions was playing, I had to put wax in my ears
, so bad it was. Scorpions Greek word= Skorpios , stress on last 'o'. Charon Greek pron., Har-os. Hades Greek pron., A-this. You all know Greek , it's just that you don't know you do.
See You Tube; speech of Xenophon Zolotas 1957 to prove it. Zito H Ellas!
