You're amazing. Did you use a walker at home at all? How long before you could do some things for yourself, like making a cup of tea/food? Did you have anterior approach, I thought I saw your scars at the side? How long did you have someone there to help you? I'm having it in the future and scared.
@@ecographics thank you ☺️. My husband helped me a lot in the first few days at home. I didn’t use a walker at home as I found crutches easier. I used a leg lifter to help me get in and out of bed the first couple of days and I had a commode next to the bed to use at night (the drugs make you pee non-stop for the first couple of weeks). I was able to weight bear from day one which meant I could stand in one spot in the kitchen to make a cup of tea or by the sink to clean my teeth. But my husband did all the cooking in the first week. I found a tote bag with long handles that I could hang round my neck to carry things around the house. I had a postero-lateral approach so mar scars are on the side, just behind my hip bones. And the surgery was minimally invasive. I have had absolutely no bruising at all. By the end of week 2 I could move around the house quite well on one crutch so I can carry my own cup of tea. I have never had a lot of pain since the surgery. There is aching in the muscles, the odd twinge if I move something wrong and a bit of pulling around the scars but I’ve been managing fine with paracetamol, ice and the odd anti-inflammatory. Are you having both hips done together? I think it’s easier than one at a time in many ways.
Amazing, thank you for sharing. May you continue to thrive and build up your strength xx
