Hard to believe it's already been 17 years since we last saw Ewan as Obi-Wan. This really does feel like the right time to see what the character was up to between ROTS and ANH
Ikr I was 6 years old when Revenge of the Sith came out and now im 23. Obi-wan was always my favorite character and I am so happy ewan is back for his own series along with hayden playing darth vader again.
My brother worked on season three of Fargo (in which Ewan is excellent) and was directing traffic on set using his lightsaber. A car in blacked-out windows pulled up, the window rolled down and Ewan said "you're not gonna get very far with that," winked, and drove off.
How sweet is this? Ewan keeps wanting to put the focus on Mike -- gushing over how much he and his daughter love Mike's comedy, talking about Mike's surprise gig as Jimmy's sub -- and Mike is so pro & gracious. He always finds a way to quickly turn the attention back on the guest! Honestly, as a viewer, I'm so happy seeing Mike get the public adulation!!! He deserves it.
He does age. Well, but still. Also, it might not be as obvious because by the time episode III hit, they were intentionally using make up to make him seem older anyway, to help bring him closer to alec.
Everybody talking about his role in star wars or how good looking he is. Nobody commenting on him being amusing, on his charisma or acting skills. Damn he played some of the greatest roles in modern Cinematography.
This is one of my favorite interviews I've ever seen with Ewan. It's a lot of fun and completely genuine throughout the entire thing. He's always genuine, from what I've seen, but I just really enjoyed this one. Both of them were great.
Yup and sadly he turned down the role in the sequels, would have been awesome to see Wedge return. I do like Poe, but Wedge would have made the connection better.
So I heard a comment about James Bond that sort of applies to Star Wars now, most people's favorite bond is the one you grew up on (roger moore for me) and I see some of that with Star Wars. my kids LOVE the prequels they rewatch them all the time just like I can watch Empire 100x and not get sick of it. I really LOVE Ewan in this franchise.
Roger Moore, yes! Same thing though, it's "weird" to realize, and reconcile with, the grew up with. See the same thing with bands, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, etc. I hate it, but I love it : )
I have been a fan of Ewan's uncle Dennis, well, obviously since '77. But more so since '83 when he played Gordon Urquhart in Local Hero, which supplanted Star Wars as my favourite film, and remains so to this day. Watch it
Mike Birbiglia you’re a natural! You should be the official stand in for any and all late night comedy talk shows for the rest of your life, based on your availability, willingness and desire to accommodate. Also you should receive a check that makes it almost impossible to turn down!!!
I knew he liked Star Wars when he was younger because his uncle was in Star Wars but I couldn’t remember who it was because I saw it on that behind the scenes dvd set they had with episode 3
The joke is, when Denis Lawson visited the set of the prequels at one time (and he was allowed as he was part of the GFFA), he made the comment to Ewan and one of the assistant directors that George was "wearing the same *&!#$& flannel shirt!"
Yes Ewan, as a child of the 90s and I was 5 when TPM came out. I loved them soooo much and still do. Thank you sir for your service to one of the best franchises ever
Even though The Book of Boba Fett was entertaining, it felt like watching a play, even the fight sequences were on a small scale in terms of the town population and enemies. I hope Obi-wan does it better. 🙏
I love that Star Wars always do charities, even inspiring fans to do that, too. I’ve just watched a stream of a group of Star Wars fans do a charity livestream for Ukraine. Also, the 501st legion who’ve been attending charity events for many years, decades even. Long live, Star Wars!
This Ballbagigloo guy is really good considering the circumstances of jumping in because the Rock wasn't available to fill in, he deserves his own chat show.🏀👜 for the win!!!!
I thought the uncle had some non-speaking role and then it turns out that it's Wedge Antilles! Can't even remember the name of Oscar Isaac's character in the sequels.
I’m So proud of u, Mike! I’ve been a fan of yours since around 2011. I finally got to see you live for the first time some months back at The Chicago Theatre.
Idk whether it counts or not but in one episode of Long way down Ewan and Charlie visited a place which was like sand iglu underground (later it was named as Star wars cafe or something irl) in Tunisia where movie was filmed and had lots of poster of Ewan as obi wan Kenobi but none of the tourist recognized Ewan there and Ewan lived his nostalgia for moment
Fun Fact: Lawson did not actually say "Look at the size of that thing!" in Star Wars because his British-accented voice was overdubbed by American actor David Ankrum.
@@PartlySunny74 Pardon my mistake, Denis Lawson is indeed Scottish. Whatever accent he used for the take, apparently it wasn't quite 'Merican enough for the producers.
@@missbunnygirl80 Indeed. It’s incredibly tiresome that some people (mainly Americans - sorry but it’s true) think ‘British’ is just another word for ‘English’.
