One of the very best blogs of Viking cruises. Very well narrated and enjoyed the pictures and narrative of some of the highlights. I can hardly wait to take another fabulous Viking River Cruise. You brought back so many wonderful memories and a burning urge to relax on a river cruise and make many more memories for the future.
Such an informative video! Thanks so much for putting so much effort into this stunning summary. I'm 3 months away from my own Rhine getaway and this just reignited my excitement!
Love your presentation and photography. I lived in Heidelberg for three wonderful years (2004-2007). My house was right above the Heidelberg Castle and felt in love with Heidelberg. Germany is so beautiful and its people are very nice. Beer and wine fest are above dream level. My recommendation is to plan traveling during the fall months, the weather is wonderful and the fall colors are second to none.
Great video I like the cutaways to still photos while narrator still speaking. I can see why you have quite a few subscribers. Thank you for helping me escape to another land on a humdrum Sunday afternoon.
I really like your video and your husband's video! The videos came up separately and I just figured out today that you were linked. These were great to let someone know what to expect.
Thank you so much for sharing this amazing experience. I would love to take the family on this very trip thanks to your wonderful presentations. I always wanted to tour through the castles of old. Nothing like that here in southern Illinois (States), just oceans of corn fields. I really enjoyed your drone videos in places that may have limited vantage points for stills and videos. I never thought I would have a need for one until I see someones tasteful artful use with one.
Thanks for the video. It serves as a warm up for my wife and I when we do the Christmas market version this December. we did the Viking Grand European in 2019. They never seem to do a great job!
in 2017 we did this cruise, started in Basel, 4711 cologone, lunch on the porch of the opera house in Strasbourg, and cheese making before Kinderdjik, my wife bought some cheese to take home, but forgot it and left it in the refrigerator at the Sheraton. a absolutely beautiful cruise
I love your video, the way you incorporated beautiful photos and narration, so interesting. I will be doing the same trip in late October and thank you for the suggestions. There was an optional tour of Bruhl castle which you did not take, did you hear any information from those passengers who did it?
Thank you for making this video, both the photo's, video's & narration were of superb quality, I especially liked the Fabulous drone footage ! You made me feel as if I was actually there, I did have to press pause several times during the entire video several times as not to miss out all the visual delights. I also got my wife to sit down with me to watch this with me thinking perhaps her & I might book our own Viking Rhine Getaway Cruise in the near future .....Oh by the way Maarten would you ever eat a raw herring again ? :-)
Thanks, we appreciate the kind words - I'm sure you'll have a great time if you decide to go. I was born in Holland, so of course I'll eat raw herring again - it's a dutch treat, a typical street food/food truck snack. It's like sushi - and it has been salted.
Well Maarten, if you think the river cruise is great, you really should try their Ocean Liner cruises. I'm on the Viking Sky just now, having just left Copenhagen, mid way through a Baltic cruise. It is amazing and truly 5*. 90% American guests, but some from UK, Canada and Australia. Track the Viking Sky using Vesselfinder on the web to see some really small harbours and fiords that this generation of Liner can reach. We are going one way while the identical Viking Sea crossed our path at Aalborg harbour.
Lovely videos.... We are booked for a Viking Grand European Cruise in Oct 2019. Question about the drone. I also try bringing mine when traveling but have never taken it to Europe. Did you get permission to fly or just wander off to be away from everyone and fly? I would love to bring mine and do similar shots. Thank you for sharing your cruise.... great job.
Thank you, I appreciate the kind words. I did ask the captain for permission (granted), but was also aware of the drone regulations in France and Germany - in general, the rules and guidelines are fairly consistent and if you're an aware, responsible and (somewhat) experienced drone pilot you shouldn't have issues. In general, don't fly in cities and you'll be fine.
Maarten Heilbron Thank you. I have been flying drones for about 4 years and am a rule follower and take every precaution when flying. Here in the US I have the required license to use my drone for commercial ventures so have a fair amount of experience. But, don’t want to create unnecessary issues or anger among people. Thank you for you reply. I watched your review of the Spark. I have a Mavic for travels and have considered the Spark for the trip to Europe. Thoughts?
I say, go for it. Have a look at the regulations in the areas where you're going - and if you already are an experienced, responsible and cautious pilot you shouldn't have any trouble.
Thanks, we appreciate the kind words. If you tell me at which point in the video, I can identify the camera - in general, it's either the Panasonic GH5, or the Olympus OM-D EM-1 mk2.
It didn't make it, although (with the 10-18) it would have been useful in our stateroom. We brought a lot of stuff: th-cam.com/video/nfrkFqKvXKw/w-d-xo.html and it just didn't fit.

What an outstanding video and overview of your Viking Cruise excursions. Well Done!
That's very kind of you to say, Kim and I appreciate the kind words.
We used to live in Köln, so it was super fun to see all the very familiar sights there. =) Lovely video, thank you.
It was super fun to visit, a very enjoyable city. And thanks for the kind words.

Always our pleasure - I agree, it's hard to wait - we're off on another Viking trip next month.
Absolutely smashing and beautiful photography! Thank you! I think I may take that same cruise, now!
We appreciate the kind words, and are certain you'd enjoy the cruise.
Absolutely fabulous presentation! Thank you so much for sharing with us!

I'd love to do that cruise too - but they seem to be all sold out this year.

Sounds like you had a wonderful adventure, thanks for sharing the detail, sorry about the cheese.
Will be taking this cruise this August. Thank you.
Hope you enjoy it!
We are doing this cruise at the end of 2019. We have done several prior to this and have never been disappointed.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Bon voyage!

Thanks for your kind words. That excursion was not offered during our trip.

Thanks For That Info :-) - yhoo.it/2uol0rz
hehe
Totally enjoyed your review. How much actual walking did you have to do? I have some foot and leg issues.
Thanks for the kind words. As much as you want. It depends on the excursions you choose.
Excellent video. I am at the “wishing” stage for a river cruise but i plan to make it happen.
Thanks for the kind words, hopefully you can move from the wishing to travelling this year.
What an extremely enjoyable video! Thank you for sharing!
We were pleased to read your kind words, thanks!

Wonderful presentation and splendid images :)
That's very kind of you to say, thanks for commenting.
Thank you for your wonderful video.
Thanks for taking the time to post your kind words.
Wonderful, thank you!
Thanks for your kind words, appreciated.
Were you there in July? Was it cold?
In May - spring weather.
What month of the year were you traveling? Thanks for posting!
We took the cruise in early May 2018.
Excellent presentation as we've come to expect from the elegant Ms. Worobec.
But, PLEASE, stop torturing me with those pictures of cake!!! :-)
Thanks, I'll pass your kind words along. But about the cake ... not sure we can help with that. Have you tried therapy? :-)
LOL

What time of year were you there?
We were there in May.
We are signed up for the Amsterdam to Basel Christmas Market cruise Nov 25th. Can you tell me how far the Basel airport is from where the ship docks?
I would check that with Viking. They do provide airport to ship transfers. We stayed overnight in Basel prior to boarding, which I would recommend.
@@MaartenHeilbron Yes, we are also staying overnight in Basel. Happy cruising!
If I could get the wife on a boat I would book a trip for two. wonderful video. What camera did you use for the low light shots?
Thanks again.
Thanks, we appreciate the kind words. If you tell me at which point in the video, I can identify the camera - in general, it's either the Panasonic GH5, or the Olympus OM-D EM-1 mk2.
Maarten Heilbron Thanks, I was just curious if you used the Sony a6000 at all. Thank you you answered my question.
