  • In this video I give an overview about poststructuralism. It encompasses various theories and positions that started to develop in France during the 1960s. The basic assumption is that our world is constructed and ordered in discourse.
    Literature recommendations:
Derrida, J. (1978). Structure, sign, and play in the discourse of the human sciences. Writing and difference.
Deleuze, G., & Guattari, F. (1988). A thousand plateaus: Capitalism and schizophrenia. Bloomsbury Publishing.
Barthes, R. (2001). The death of the author. Contributions in Philosophy, 83, 3-8.

I am always attending your lecture and presentation that you are making on Anthropoliccal theories; and with this I truly want to express my grattitude to you with an hounarable appreciation. Having I said this I want to ask a question: can you clarify the difference between structuralism and poststructuralism well?

How do we analyze a poem using post structuralist approach? I have been searching on Google and TH-cam, but I can't seem to find any. huhuhu

    A poststructuralist conversation:
    -Don't believe everything you see
-Have you seen the Berlin Wall?
    -No
-How do you know it exists?
    -Where is the Berlin Wall?
    -In Berlin
    -Where is Berlin located?
    -In Germany
-That's what they want you to believe

I'm quite sure that this comment was not serious, nonetheless i want to point out that for poststructuralists there is not a place of power, there is no "they". There are only discourses.

I tried to listened to the end. Could not make it because of the background music that became an mental obstacle. Why irritating the music?????

Thank you for the video. (A constructive criticism, if you don't mind: I find the background "music" not only totally unnecessary but also annoying. Five minutes into your lecture, I stopped the video as I lost the battle with whatever those sounds/noises are.)

Du könntest ja auch ganz einfach und konstruktiv in Deutsch reden.
Aber das hätte wohl nicht den beabsichtigten Klang! 😎
