Dislocation - How can we explain and understand change in discourse?
มุมมอง 1.2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I present you the aspect of Dislocation in Discourse and how change in Discourse can be understood. I already explained this aspect in my video about Laclau and Mouffes Discourse Theory but in this video I would like to go a bit more into detail and outline the two possible definitions. First dislocation as a fundamental feature and continuing lack in discourse on the level of the...
Laclau and Mouffe - Discourse Theory - Hegemony, Antagonism and Dislocation
มุมมอง 10K3 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I present you Laclau and Mouffe's discourse theory. Discourse theory questions existing knowledge regimes and power structures. It is a radical deconstruction of the neutrality of our social reality. The theory is very complex I hope you will enjoy it. Laclau and Mouffe's main work is called 'Hegemony and Socialist Strategy' and was published in 1985. It is mainly on this work tha...

Foucault and Frontex - Discovering the Biopolitical Border in the context of the EU
มุมมอง 2.6K3 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I talk about the Biopolitical Border in the context of the European Union and its border and migration policies. This is a critical perspective on border that applies Foucault's ideas about biopower and biopolitics to the concept of border. I refer in my explanation to the paper by William Walters (Walters, W. (2002). Mapping Schengenland: denaturalising the border. Environment an...

    "Matter is not passive but has agency." I don't understand what's so "new" or "materialistic" about "new materialism." Why not just call it Pantheism or Animism? Philosophers and theologians have debated these questions for ages, with far more sophistication and metaphysical nuance. Why should settle with this hodge podge of feminism, new-agism and environmental ideology?

    • @SuperBygfoot

      I see, your partial view derives from an old and crusty theologian department. Name me some Philosophers and theologians who debated these questions for ages. There concepts and assumptions are also imbedded in a hodge podge of other ideologies.

      I'm quite sure that this comment was not serious, nonetheless i want to point out that for poststructuralists there is not a place of power, there is no "they". There are only discourses.

    its important to go beyond this dichotomie of modern (rational, realist-science) and the social constructivism branch of postmodernity and combine them again. But not in an dialectical fashion.

    • @alicepractice9473
      @alicepractice9473 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is already connected as common poststructurally grounded politics demonstrates (namely by substituting the unavailable substratum with empirical data). That, however, is strictly within the bounds of dialectics.

    Thank you very much for your work! I would say it could help to the explanation if you put one or two particular cases for each concept that you present, in order to link the abstract ideas with the general experience of the audience, as a general rule of thumb to make the contents easier to understand. Justus Hartnack for instance does this (almost) the whole time in his History of philosophy.

    Deleuzo-Guattarian poststructuralism goes against the basic assumption is that our world is constructed and ordered in discourse.
