oh my god proseka writers are so so good the way they so accurately write out a manipulative mother, the way she never wipes the stupid smile off of her face, the way she makes it seem like everything she does is for “her own good,” and that it’s all perfectly healthy, the way she makes mafuyu feel awful to the point where she questions her own existence and identity her mother is incredibly smart. she makes up excuses (like spilling the drink), obviously aware of the fact that mafuyu will agree with her, never wanting to make her angry. her mom will say stuff like “it’s for your own good,” and “i just want what’s best for you” when in reality, she wants what is best for herself. she has controlled and made mafuyu feel so little and powerless that mafuyu has forced herself to act like a puppet for her mother, forcing herself to become something that she most clearly doesn’t want to be. mafuyu feels so little that she doesn’t even wanna speak up about how she feels, even though a genuine, caring mother is there to listen. that’s how you know the parent is terrible with that being said, mafuyu’s mother to have her head bashed into a concrete wall then kicked where the sun doesn’t shine❤☺️

Fantastic portrayal of different abuse tactics. Prior we saw Mafuyu have to deal with her mother telling her that she didn’t approve of her friends, since they weren’t “smart” and therefore couldn’t do anything for her. Told her not to archery as well. Since emotional manipulation is no longer working as well as it used to, she’s now physically trying to isolate. Now she’s further limiting what she can do and who she can interact with.
It's EXACTLY what abusers do. They want to control you so they isolate you from anything or anyone that could take that control from them. Mafuyu wanted to pursue music which defied Mafuyu's mom's idea of her 'perfect future doctor' so she instantly did everything to take that away from Mafuyu
Look I know Shinonome Shinei and Aoyagi Harumichi aren't good parents as well but even those two at their worse is still better than Mrs. Asahina here because at least those two are trying (and failing spectacularly) at giving their children a bright future and while their actions aren't right, their hearts are in the right place. And despite all of Shinei's harsh words about Ena's art, he never once tried to throw her art stuff, while Mrs. Asahina probably didn't have to think about throwing Mafuyu's stuff.
Mrs. Asahina definitely the worst! She even guilt-trip mafuyu ever since she was young 😔 As for Shinei, I feel like he's worried about Ena. He wanted to prevent Ena from the pain of becoming an artist. It's just, he used harsh words to convince Ena (ofc Ena didn't give up). As for Harumichi, as strict as he was, he still look over at Toya and his performance. Mrs. Asahina simply see Mafuyu as pride of her family, just looking at her ideal future of Mafuyu, not looking Mafuyu as a person. 😢

Meanwhile Harumichi seems to really want Touya to find happiness but is still stuck with his preconceptions and biases, the moment he saw how happy Touya was he decided to not be strict with him anymore. Those two are flawed parents but they do want the best for their children, meanwhile Mrs. Asahina only wants the best for her family, ignoring any pain and damage her actions are doing to Mafuyu.
Yes, Harumichi and Shinei suck...but they aren't purposely sucking. Shinei doesn't want his daughter to get hurt by overly harsh critics but comes off as harsh himself...but if he was a generally terrible parent - then where is the evidence of him being a bad parent to Akito? I've not heard of any, so it seems to be just Ena...so miscommunication at it's finest bc Shinonome suck at feelings. Harumichi...well...people already mentioned that he's trying to understand. Point is that we KNOW that the parents actually want what's best for child...we don't get that with MafuMom - does she even have an actual name?
the writers have nailed down the narcissistic disorder of mafumom to a T. She's all about "I'm doing this for mafuyu", when the only person she cares about is herself. People like her thrive on sucking the life out of their closest people like vipers. As hard as it is for mafuyu to fight back, at this point it's the only way 😢 It crashed me the way she fought so hard to keep the mask on as the convo progressed q-q

mafuyu sounds so fucking shattered and hopeless. she’s finally found something she loves to do. she’s never been able to rationalize what she likes, but making music with nightcord makes her happy, and she’s finally understood that. she loves her friends, and she loves music, too. for the first time in her life, mafuyu has found something and someone she genuinely loves and enjoys for herself. and then… her mom just threw it all away.
I love how brave the prosekai writers are and how good they are, they're not afraid to dwelve into the darker part of reality and also so accurately portray an emotionally abusive parent since in most media ive seen they either do it too much or too little when it comes to toxic parents (or make the child too edgy or emo), prosekai has the golden middle ground- Mafuyu's mother sucks but in my opinion is such a well written antagonist realistic character that i just look in awe and praise the writers

The thing that you notice as you pay attention to the main plot of n25 is how well Mafuyu's situation is written. At the first introduction of her mother, it seems as if she's just a regular overbearing mom with high but reachable expectations for her daughter. It's only as you read more stories that you can see that she truly does not care for her daughter, instead seeing her as a way to continue fitting in with society. In the Mirage of Light story, we see that she continues going to neighborhood meetings, rather than noting a change in her daughter's health. We also learn that even in one event where Mafuyu was sick as a CHILD, rather than taking a regular route to call of her meetings for the day and focus solely on Mafuyu, Mafuyu has to ask her for her help. From there, that's where all the N25 stories start to become more Mafuyu-centric, as the main plot shifts from not only trying to keep her alive, but also to give her a condition to live and break free from existing. Mafuyu's mom creates an excellent antagonist as Mafuyu notices shifts between her own family dynamics and that of other's.

I know Mafuyu had been through a lot, but she could’ve masked that her music equipment can be a great additional bonus to applying into a good college, or could’ve said that breaks with music can help a lot with brain activity (for example classical music) and can be a useful hobby from studying from time to time.

I‘ve started reading the event stories from Nightcord and let me say, damn…my heart is just aching for Mafuyu, I thought that Ena‘s and Toya‘s dad are mean, but they still care and know how their kids feel. Mafuyu‘s mom on the other hand has her daughter traumatized for life, she really is just a marionette, that is mistreated by it‘s puppet master. I‘m beyond disgusted, shame on her mom, I wish the Tenma‘s would just adopt and protect her
At this point, Mafuyu's mom just single handedly called in the swarm that is the entire niigo (if not the entire pjsk) fandom, not out of respect, but out of sheer rage and an intense thrist for blood. I agree with everyone here that Mafuyu deserves a better supportive mom and that Mafuyu's current mom can just rot in the deepest hell.

man, this just reminds me of my life when I was at home so much, and my parents wonder why I don’t want to move back in with em lol. my parents used to go through my room and my phone, everything; I could never keep anything hidden from them. I remember venting to my boyfriend over text one time about having 0 privacy in my home and then my parents going through my phone that day and getting mad at me for it. the irony 💀
One thing I noticed from reading the comments is that everyone is collectively saying that Mafuyu's mother is hurting her daughter intentionally (or at least phrase like that). On the other hand, I just don't see it. What I wanted to say is that in my eyes, it's just like my own mother copy-pasted into pjsk. The thing I learnt throughout all these years of dealing with her is that she firmly believes that she's not doing any harm. Generally, this type of toxic people often fail to see their own toxicity and often victimize themselves because they do not know they're hurting someone. Of course, I'm not saying ALL of them don't do it intentionally, but I just don't sense it from Mafuyu's mother. For me, it seems that Mafuyu is just stuck in that suffocating "motherly love". And it is the situation for children that are raised in such homes. Because that type of love isn't completely selfish, but it's rather like a tight grasp that you want to escape because it's just so uncomfortable. It's just very exhausting to deal with. It is abuse that often doesn't seem like abuse, because "I didn't want to hurt you" or "I only want what's best for you". On the other hand, I don't feel bad for Mafuyu's mother, but I pity her. It's just really sad that she doesn't realize she's hurting her daughter. Her mind is playing tricks on her and she may be unconsciously manipulating Mafuyu to just fit in her mindset. But well, her and Mafuyu are just fiction, nevertheless I feel like they were written by a person once stuck in similar relation for people that could relate to Mafuyu. I just feel bad for those, that could find themselves in similar troubling relationships or ones that say "it's normal". I hope you heal.
Personaly I don't hate Mafuyu's mother, there are a a lot of reasons for thay sort of behavior but, It's probably because Mafuyu's mother might have not gotter a good education and wants her daughter to not do the same mistakes, that also can move into 3 ways, 1. (Best option) The parent understands their child feelings and comforts their child, but also cares for grades and makes sure the child studies(did not happen) 2.(not the worst but still not healthy) The parent does only care about grades, does not understand their child's feelings and does not comfort, but does not care what the child does in their free time(did not happen) 3.(the worst outcome) becomes basicly Mafuyu's mother, controlling and manipulative, does not care about feelings of their child and does not provide comfort(happened) I think the problem is Mafuyu's granparents or even older ancestors, her mother might have expirienced some the oppisite of Mafuyu, growing up too fast, neglectfull parenting, and did not have music or anything to help. Might also think that since Mafuyu never complained before might have thought that her horomones are to blame(puberty usualy hits girls when they are a few years older than the boys? Around Mafuyu's age) plus she might have grown up in a household where she expressed her feelings but nobody cares (again neglectfull parenting) So Mafuyu's mother may not be the best person maybe she had issues herself but Mafuyu's mother's parents convinced her that nothing was wrong(just like said showed her feeling a lot but every one ignored) Also why is no one talking about this? The fact that Mafuyu's eyes can change as quickly as Mafuyu's means that something bad (again my earlier theorys) happen to her when Mafuyu's mother was little.

Meanwhile Harumichi seems to really want Touya to find happiness but is still stuck with his preconceptions and biases, the moment he saw how happy Touya was he decided to not be strict with him anymore.
Those two are flawed parents but they do want the best for their children, meanwhile Mrs. Asahina only wants the best for her family, ignoring any pain and damage her actions are doing to Mafuyu.
Yes, Harumichi and Shinei suck...but they aren't purposely sucking.
Shinei doesn't want his daughter to get hurt by overly harsh critics but comes off as harsh himself...but if he was a generally terrible parent - then where is the evidence of him being a bad parent to Akito? I've not heard of any, so it seems to be just Ena...so miscommunication at it's finest bc Shinonome suck at feelings.

the writers have nailed down the narcissistic disorder of mafumom to a T. She's all about "I'm doing this for mafuyu", when the only person she cares about is herself. People like her thrive on sucking the life out of their closest people like vipers. As hard as it is for mafuyu to fight back, at this point it's the only way 😢

mafuyu sounds so fucking shattered and hopeless. she’s finally found something she loves to do. she’s never been able to rationalize what she likes, but making music with nightcord makes her happy, and she’s finally understood that. she loves her friends, and she loves music, too. for the first time in her life, mafuyu has found something and someone she genuinely loves and enjoys for herself.

I love how brave the prosekai writers are and how good they are, they're not afraid to dwelve into the darker part of reality and also so accurately portray an emotionally abusive parent since in most media ive seen they either do it too much or too little when it comes to toxic parents (or make the child too edgy or emo), prosekai has the golden middle ground-
Mafuyu's mother sucks but in my opinion is such a well written antagonist realistic character that i just look in awe and praise the writers

The thing that you notice as you pay attention to the main plot of n25 is how well Mafuyu's situation is written.
At the first introduction of her mother, it seems as if she's just a regular overbearing mom with high but reachable expectations for her daughter. It's only as you read more stories that you can see that she truly does not care for her daughter, instead seeing her as a way to continue fitting in with society. In the Mirage of Light story, we see that she continues going to neighborhood meetings, rather than noting a change in her daughter's health. We also learn that even in one event where Mafuyu was sick as a CHILD, rather than taking a regular route to call of her meetings for the day and focus solely on Mafuyu, Mafuyu has to ask her for her help.
From there, that's where all the N25 stories start to become more Mafuyu-centric, as the main plot shifts from not only trying to keep her alive, but also to give her a condition to live and break free from existing. Mafuyu's mom creates an excellent antagonist as Mafuyu notices shifts between her own family dynamics and that of other's.
This witch is really crossing the line. Not only did she throw away mafuyu's music equipment without her consent, but she also fails to understand what her daughter really feels and wants.

I‘ve started reading the event stories from Nightcord and let me say, damn…my heart is just aching for Mafuyu, I thought that Ena‘s and Toya‘s dad are mean, but they still care and know how their kids feel. Mafuyu‘s mom on the other hand has her daughter traumatized for life, she really is just a marionette, that is mistreated by it‘s puppet master. At this point, Mafuyu's mom just single handedly called in the swarm that is the entire niigo (if not the entire pjsk) fandom, not out of respect, but out of sheer rage and an intense thrist for blood. One thing I noticed from reading the comments is that everyone is collectively saying that Mafuyu's mother is hurting her daughter intentionally (or at least phrase like that). On the other hand, I just don't see it. What I wanted to say is that in my eyes, it's just like my own mother copy-pasted into pjsk. The thing I learnt throughout all these years of dealing with her is that she firmly believes that she's not doing any harm. Generally, this type of toxic people often fail to see their own toxicity and often victimize themselves because they do not know they're hurting someone. Of course, I'm not saying ALL of them don't do it intentionally, but I just don't sense it from Mafuyu's mother. For me, it seems that Mafuyu is just stuck in that suffocating "motherly love". And it is the situation for children that are raised in such homes. Because that type of love isn't completely selfish, but it's rather like a tight grasp that you want to escape because it's just so uncomfortable. It's just very exhausting to deal with. It is abuse that often doesn't seem like abuse, because "I didn't want to hurt you" or "I only want what's best for you". On the other hand, I don't feel bad for Mafuyu's mother, but I pity her. It's just really sad that she doesn't realize she's hurting her daughter. Her mind is playing tricks on her and she may be unconsciously manipulating Mafuyu to just fit in her mindset. But well, her and Mafuyu are just fiction, nevertheless I feel like they were written by a person once stuck in similar relation for people that could relate to Mafuyu. I just feel bad for those, that could find themselves in similar troubling relationships or ones that say "it's normal". I hope you heal.

Personaly I don't hate Mafuyu's mother, there are a a lot of reasons for thay sort of behavior but, It's probably because Mafuyu's mother might have not gotter a good education and wants her daughter to not do the same mistakes, that also can move into 3 ways,
1. (Best option) The parent understands their child feelings and comforts their child, but also cares for grades and makes sure the child studies(did not happen)
2.(not the worst but still not healthy) The parent does only care about grades, does not understand their child's feelings and does not comfort, but does not care what the child does in their free time(did not happen)
3.(the worst outcome) becomes basicly Mafuyu's mother, controlling and manipulative, does not care about feelings of their child and does not provide comfort(happened)
I think the problem is Mafuyu's granparents or even older ancestors, her mother might have expirienced some the oppisite of Mafuyu, growing up too fast, neglectfull parenting, and did not have music or anything to help.
Might also think that since Mafuyu never complained before might have thought that her horomones are to blame(puberty usualy hits girls when they are a few years older than the boys? Around Mafuyu's age) plus she might have grown up in a household where she expressed her feelings but nobody cares (again neglectfull parenting)
So Mafuyu's mother may not be the best person maybe she had issues herself but Mafuyu's mother's parents convinced her that nothing was wrong(just like said showed her feeling a lot but every one ignored)
Also why is no one talking about this? The fact that Mafuyu's eyes can change as quickly as Mafuyu's means that something bad (again my earlier theorys) happen to her when Mafuyu's mother was little.
This reminds me of the time I was walking back home from school in a cheery mood because I was going to play project sekai and when I got home my phone wouldn't turn on so I consulted my mom and she said she will take it to get fixed but I later found out she herself ripped out the battery from it
Mafuyu's mom is the worst type of bad parent fr. She literally manipulates her daughter into thinking that she's doing the best for her when its not. How can Mafuyu realize that his mom doesn't care about her when the only thing she says its that its for her sake.

I will not be surprised if Mafuyu wants to dissappear/becomes suicidal and becomes to THAT Mafuyu in the Niigo main story because this lady doesn't care about her child she only thinks about doing stuff that will effect her future in a bad way and if she continues to do this Mafuyu WILL dissappear in the future
