PROCTORS - SCHENECTADY, NY
Returning to Proctors after many years are the dynamic Grass Roots. In the late 60s and early 70s, they had three top ten singles, six top twenty hits and fourteen top 40 singles, two gold albums and sold more than 20 million records. Hits include “Midnight Confession,” Temptation Eyes,” “Sooner or Later,” “Two Divided by Love,” “Where Were You when I Needed You,” “Let’s Live for Today” and “I’d Walk a Million Miles.”
Unfortunately, Rob Grill passed away in 2011, but his bandmates and outstanding lead singer Mark Dawson continue to present the great hits with passion and energy.

I'm glad that someone is singing these songs, even if it is a cover band.
Mark, Dusty, Joe and Larry ROCK!
I remember some of the songs. They're amazing!
A underrated band great songs
Good stuff
Not the original band but creating the sound of the originals. Before his death after his stroke and could no longer perform Rob Grill hand picked these guys to carry on the name. GREAT GROUP
I didn’t know that! It’s really cool to hear how Rob Grill handpicked these musicians to carry on the legacy 💯
@TheTumblingDice Arn't they great Amazing at their age
They're fake
@@richbailey8174 I stated that in my comment not the orignal band. But they capture the sound of band
@@marke6569 I get that.
Sounding good. Doing Rob Grill Proud.. Also GREAT cover of Hamilton, Reynolds, & Joe Frank
Thanks for this great current video of the band! The drummer Joe doesn't look well - is he sick; does anybody know?
Yeah? Ya think so... I wasn't aware. They put on a good show, the crowd fav that evening was Gary Lewis and the Playboys but I was partial to The Grass Roots! It was nice to hear those songs played live again. Thanks for your comment !
Interesting...i have the albums
They should go out as Hamilton , Joe Frank and Reynolds too . 😂
There needs to be a way to stop these fake bands....for 1/10th of the money you can go to any bar and hear the same thing
@richbailey8174 You're right. I had tickets to a four act show . My brother bought the tickets . Out of all 4 acts , there was one original member . These bands are really tribute bands .
@@TheJukeboxjim Years ago it turned into a legal thing. The name of the band is either sold or leased and then can be used by anyone. Most people don't know about this and don't know who the original or "real" members are so they can be fooled easily. Mostly it is oldies bands this happens with. Lookup how Burton Cummings finally finished the legal battle with the fake "Guess Who".
@@TheJukeboxjim Yeah, but don't ya think they did a great job - it was a fun night out. 😃👍
@@richbailey8174 Well, there is some legitimacy here, as I’m sure they legally obtained the right to use the name. To me, that makes it feel like a respectful tribute rather than just a cover band. it’s a chance to connect with music that means so much to so many of us
They're touring nursing homes and sanitariums.
Haha, that’s okay - They’ll keep performing as long as there’s a live audience with a pulse 😉 It’s all about keeping the spirit of the classics alive! 🤞💗
You missed my point. They are calling themselves, The Grass Roots and clearly they are not.
If someone called themselves, “The Beatles,” it would be wrong aldo
If you find keeping the music alive is important you'll have to accept new people after more than a half century. People don't bitch about the Packers because Bart Starr is no longer quarterback.
Any original members?
Cover band living off the name
The Grass Roots is composed of musicians who joined later and were not part of the original or classic lineup. This version of the band performs with the approval of Rob Grill's estate and continues to keep the band's legacy alive. While the current lineup may not have any original members, they are dedicated to keeping the spirit and hits of the band alive for fans. It’s not uncommon for classic bands to evolve with new talent and that doesn’t diminish the joy they bring to oldies enthusiasts. Sometimes it’s about celebrating the music, not just the faces behind it
Let’s be honest - given the age of this music, many original members of these bands have passed on. How would you feel, 'Beatles 1000,' if we followed the logic that because two of the Beatles members have passed away, all performances of their music should stop? Would you suggest that any band or artist playing Beatles songs, even if it’s a chord-for-chord recreation, should cease? Music, especially a legacy like The Beatles, lives on through those who continue to perform and keep the spirit of the original work alive. It's disrespectful to call those musicians 'cover bands' when they’re preserving and honoring an legacy, especially when they are still talented artists in their own right.
@@TheTumblingDice you missed my point completely. They are calling themselves, “The Grass Roots “and they clearly are not. If someone toured calling them selves “The Beatles” that would be wrong
@@TheTumblingDiceif Ron Wood toured with three other guys and call themselves “The Rolling Stones” would that be ok?
@@beatles1000 Yeah, I don't care what they call themselves as long as the music is good.
Fake!
