    Thanks for watching! Please note that the original specs we had on the shoe have been updated, so it's a stack height of 38 mm in the heel and 32 mm in the forefoot (the specs in the video are midsole foam only) and the price is $165. Available October 13. (And yes, it's Fresh Foam X, not FuelCell.)

    Funny. I actually think the upper on the v12 is one of the best uppers on the marker and possibly ever. This is not a performance shoe and doesn't really need to hold someone's foot totally in there. It is also a highly recommended shoe from foot doctors making this a fantastic choice for those with messed up feet, especially toes including bunions. Considering that most people are wearing their shoes too small that stretchy upper didn't squeeze the toes together like most shoes do, aside from brands like Altra and Topo. Other than that I am very excited to see the new 1080 v13. Does look great and more gear towards towards more serious runners.

    I had the More V4 but sold them last night due to rubbing and blistering on the inside edge of my left foot. Picked up some Saucony Triumph 20s as a replacement and so far LOVE them. I wonder how the 1080 V13 compare to the Triumphs?

    • @ZenDao_85
      @ZenDao_85 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ye i tried the more v4 for like 1 min indoors and instantly got rubbing on the inside part of my big toe.
      The upper collapsed every step and the plastic part bent inwards. Garbage upper.. such a pity since that midsole felt so good.

    • @Kaisersozze
      @Kaisersozze ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I also recenlty got the Tirumph 20s, was running in the More V3. Triumphs are so much more bouncy, but going from 4mm drop in the V3 to 10mm feels a bit too much, would love to see a 6-8mm trop in the Trumphs 22. Toe box could be slightly wider as well for me. Still a fun shoe to run in.

    • @ZenDao_85
      @ZenDao_85 ปีที่แล้ว

      @runeveryday1069 i love saucony too. Their midsoles, uppers and last are always on point.
      Sauconys outsoles are always terrible though. So slippery on wet surfaces. If they would use something similar to pumagrip, asicsgrip or vibram megagrip.. saucony would become the best company hands down. But for now they got the worst outsoles, even in the trail shoes.

    • @Henriport79
      @Henriport79 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m on my first pairs of Saucony and so far can’t fault them. The Ride 16 is great and so far loving the Triumph 20. I looked at the Kinvara but was put off by the lack of grip

    Looks a good update this time. I agree with Megs that the v10 was the last good 1080. If this is an improvement on the v10 then it will be a nice shoe to tick off some weekly miles in at the right price. As with most dailys though the rrp os too high. You can buy most carbon racers that have been out for a while cheaper than a lot of daily's upon release. When the 1080v13 crash in price then I may give them a go.

    Similar specs to the Brooks Ghost Max if I'm not mistaken? Both have a 6mm drop too. I think I'll stick with my Saucony Triumph. I much prefer the PWRRUN+ foam over NB Fresh Foam X. And if I want to go a bit faster, I'll wear my NB Propel v4. Great shoe and much cheaper too, even more so as they are coming on sale.

    Thanks for another great review! How would you compare the 1080v13 with the 880v13? My daily trainer is the 880v13. I liked it better than the 1080v12. Despite the 1080v12 being softer feeling, I didn't feel it had the bounce and response that the 880 did. I use the SC trainer v2 for long runs and recovery. The Rebel v3 for faster and interval workouts.

  • @dxnoconnor

    I have just picked these up and been out twice in them, and am seeing huge issues.
    The sizing is perfect in my usual new balance size (uk9.5/us10) and I definitely don't need to go up or down.
    But when I'm running in the shoe, it's almost as though when the midsole compresses, due to it being so soft, my foot slides laterally on the insole.
    It's causing HUGE hotspots and blisters, the whole front pad of my foot.
    While they are soft, I fear they have been made TOO soft and mushy which is causing this issue.

  • @movdqa

    I've been waiting for this for a long time to learn about this shoe. I've read some bootleg reviews on reddit from beta testers but it's nice to see a comprehensive review. But the main reason I'm glad that this review came out is the potential for discounts on the 1080v12. I actually love the stretch on the 1080v12. The other thing I love about the v12 is that the 4E feels like 6E. So there's Fuelcell in the 1080 now? I would prefer more rubber as it wears pretty fast on the 1080v12 and the More v3.

    Had my V13 now for 8 weeks. First impressions were great, felt like walking on clouds and instant comfort all around. Love the feel of the tongue and upper in general. Great initial cushioning and bounce.
    After 8 weeks though, not so much love. I use them for slow jogging/fast walking (don’t judge me, that’s my fitness level) and average 12-17,000 steps a day. Bounce has definitely dropped off, with the right shoe feeling a little flat. Foam has definitely compressed (about 5% in the heel stack, less in the front). That would seem about normal for this level of wear though.
    Most disappointing though is the outsole. Pretty much worn through in the middle towards the toe and almost worn through on the heel. I’ve never had an outsole wear quite as quickly. Are others experiencing this?

    • @chadwzimm
      @chadwzimm ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Would make a great video! From my perspective, the 1080 v13 has a lot more responsiveness and bounce from the Fresh Foam X than the Brooks Ghost has in the DNA LOFT v2. The Ghost is slightly firmer underfoot but still with decent softness; not as soft as the 1080 v13. Both have the 6mm drop, but the rocker in the Ghost Max provides a nice roll through each stride. From a use case view, I would use the Ghost Max as a recovery day shoe and the 1080 v13 as a daily trainer, so there's place for both in a rotation.

    I'd be interested to know how it compares to the Triumph 21s, is it about as plush and bouncy? One person on reddit said V13 is more unstable from pervious versions. Also unfortunately I have some doubts on how accurate the NB reviews are this year since the channel works directly with NB now. If all the NB reviews are green I'll have to look elsewhere. I just ordered a pair of v12's and im excited to try them! They were super cozy when i tried them on in the store 😊 I've worn nothing but Hokas for the past few years . My feet just feel like they move around too much in them. Also, does anyone know what fitness watches they are wearing in this video?

    Great video guys. My 1080v10's finally need to be replaced😢. What shoe do u think is the closest to the v10? I feel like these new v13 are just way to "max cushion" and springy compared to v10

    U folks will have more insight as to why shoe companies do roller coasters w/ their versions. WHY do they get a winner of a shoe, sayyyyy the Nimbus 15, then get a dumper in the 16, then come back better w/ the 17, and then later ones people hate, then comes the 24 and it's the best ever??? WHY not leave a shoe pretty much unchanged if the overwhelming response is very favorable?

    Loved the V10s and have not really liked any of the 1080s since as none feel as good as the ultraheel.

      Tried on a pair of 1080 v13 yesterday. Love the new look. However, the midsole is way too soft. It was like a dough of flour under my feet. I was able to press the forefoot down left and right with very little effort. A bit scary really. This new version of Fresh Foam X won't be good for Hierro v8 for the trail.

    Did the drop reduce or increase? You said is was down 2mm but asked if it felt more cushy? Couldn’t tell if you were referring to feel. The stack heights seem a bit wacky too, RunRepeat busted open the More and it seems the stack is super close to this!

    I'm not fast and run all my runs in the hoka Mach 5. Before that was Mach 4s. I wear the brooks ghost as my workout and daily shoe to run around in for its much more comfortable fit than the hoka. I thought the ghost was heavy when running especially when going 4 and up miles. I didn't like the new balance 1080 when I tried it on last year. I would love to find little more comfortable running shoe than the Mach 5 . I'm 60 yrs old and first started running in 2020. Do you think the new balance sc trainer 2 or thus shoe would be a shoe that you would think better than the Mach 5

    • @saldinife
      @saldinife ปีที่แล้ว

      I also ran on the Mach 5 but want something more durable and with a bit more cushion on the forefoot. Will try the Mach X and see how that goes. I think it's similar to the SC Trainer v2...

      NB rebel v4 are very versatile or the novablast 3 or 4. The 1080's are more for slow comfy running more than anything else, not really designed for speed.
