3:10 Yeah, despite Jessica Alba being cast for her looks she actually tries with this one to be a scientist (as it is in this movie). You'll miss that in the sequel. One of the reasons I always prefered Fantastic Four (2005) over its 2007 sequel. In fact, Fantastic Four (2005) is my favorite Marvel movie period and I'm sure nothing will ever change that. Nostalgia is a very strong power.

I have a lot of nostalgia for the sequel (despite the fact that it does not differ in quality from the first film). I would personally like to see Doom in the new MCU film either as a new global threat like Thanos, or as a villain who can be declared in a solo movie, but not get rid of him, as Marvel likes to do. Mole Man can be put as the main villain of the new film.

Although there were plans to try and have them share the same universe before the actual MCU. Especially with a few Easter eggs in each movie.
Even Kevin Feige might have wanted to do that. Since the alternate post-credit scene for "Iron Man" mentioned "radioactive bug bites and assorted mutants", and an early script revealed that Tony Stark created Doc Ock's tentacles. Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker would have appeared in "The Incredible Hulk", and the movie itself was a sort-of sequel to 2003's "Hulk" (the script got rewritten).

In the comics, Victor von Doom wasn't a "jerk businessman" turning into metal, he was an easily-obsessed mad-scientist type with an old grudge against Reed, and who returned to his country of Latveria (as it says on the boat) to became a tyrannical mad-scientist overlord dictator in iron mask and techno-armor...And adopting the catchier title of Doctor Doom.
That was the biggest fan facepalm about the first movie, enough that the sequel went out its way to fix it. Somewhat.

    • @plocky4275
      @plocky4275 2 ปีที่แล้ว

It's a scary character for sure, but also extremely complex to have him properly introduced in a single film, nevermind one with four extra new heroes. Picture someone who has defeated on his own through spells interdimensional godlike beings and has lived to tell the tale, nearly as powerful in magic as Dr. Strange (even him admitted Victor knows some stuff he doesn't), and practically on par if not slighty above with guys like Tony Stark and Reed Richards when it comes to technology and overall intelligence, which are pretty much the biggest human nerds in Marvel. And if that wasn't enough he also rules an entire country with all the implications behind that. Mix all of the above and you have Dr. Doom. It's a powerhouse on his own and one of the best all-rounder characters Marvel has. Often the one thing stopping him from becoming truly unstoppable tends to be his massive ego, he cannot fathom making a mistake and usually downplays his adversaries' capabilities, but when you are that OP and still human I guess you can't help it.

This is such an underrated movie! I'm happy you've got around to finally watching it!
Also, just to give you an idea of how strong Ben can be, he's strong enough to hold his own against the Incredible Hulk! He's nowhere near as strong as him since Hulk has that thing where the angrier he gets, the stronger he gets as well, but even so the Thing is one tough guy even when outclassed, he has a fighting spirit which never breaks!

1:15 Yes it is my friend, yes it is! Fun fact: The Fantastic Four was actually Stan Lee's first creation before Spider-Man. The Fantastic Four the first superhero team in Marvel, plus, the first superheroes to be relatable as well. This movie is okay. I think the best performances from the movie were Chris Evans and the actor who played Doctor Doom. Even though he doesn't get his powers from the storm like the team. He practice dark magic and study science to save his country from an dictator became a king. What makes Doom a great villain is the fact that he sees himself as a savior of humanity. He wants to take over the world to make it a better place. However, his downfall is the fact that he's prideful and arrogant. Thanos even sees Doctor Doom more of a threat than the Avengers and the Fantastic Four combine. By the way, if you have time, you should do a reaction to Blade if you haven't seen it. It's the first Marvel movie that actually changed superhero movies

Although it was filled with comic book cheese, it's still surprising how this is the best movie iteration of the Fantastic Four so far. To its credit, there is a lot of fun to it, the dynamics between the four are quite solid, Ben and Johnny perhaps are the most faithful characters (Chris Evans pre-Captain America is still a trip) and they were faithful as much as they could with the looks. But of course, 2000s cheese and the shoehorning of extreme sports did bring it down, and sadly Julian McMahon would start a long line of Marvel failing to get Dr Doom right. If this came out today it'd be slaughtered though, the 2000s had a lot more freedom to use creative license, but we'll see what the MCU make of the Four
Latveria is a comic reference, it's a fictional country Doom is the leader of, which is why he gets away with all of his evil activities, since he has Diplomatic immunity

With the second, it feels like two movies squished into one, where for every two scenes that try to be a serious super hero movie, there will be one scene of it being a family or romantic comedy. I also feel the Silver Surfer was out of place, as his scenes are so serious. they don't mesh with scenes of Mr. Fantastic doing a dance routine. Hey Tim!!! I'm so glad you took the time to watch the original Fantastic Four movie back in 2005, it was pretty good back in my childhood. Now, I can see some things about it have not aged well, but what does stick out for me is Chris Evans playing the arrogant, cocky, and "hotheaded" Johnny Storm before he became Steve Rogers/Captain America later, and Michael Chiklis played the Thing down to a T, I enjoyed the way he was depicted here. I just hope that when Marvel Studios eventually brings in the Fantastic Four to the MCU at some point, they will be made artfully and organically as they deserve.

I really don't care who disagrees, Jessica Alba was the only choice to play Susan Storm/Invisible Woman in this movie and its sequel Rise Of The Silver Surfer.

I always enjoyed this movie most of the characters are smart & yea are stereotypical but it’s overall not that bad imo, I know the reeboot in 2015 was shit but I don’t mind this one & the sequel plus Invisible woman seems to be the most powerful to me

So Chris Evans has played a total of 4 comic book characters in movies, MCU, Scott Pilgrim vs the world, the losers, and the fantastic 4. Also like last week the director of spider man NWH was supposed to direct the fantastic 4 in the MCU but quit because he wants a break from super hero movies. But he is returning for Tom spider man 4

I liked this as a kid. It's still enjoyable. When I was a kid, I wanted to be the Thing mainly because of the super strength. Nowadays, I admire Michael's performance. I believe he loved the character so much he insisted on the suit instead of CGI. In any case, I'll take this and the Silver Surfer film over the 2015 any day.

Oh how I love this movie! Now if I recall correctly the solar wave was either the Phoenix Force or something of the sort. And boy Chris Evans has evolved from hothead Johnny to bad ass Steve. I do admit I was judge of the actor playing Doom even before knowing about Doom being villainous because he played Cole in Charmed and everything he plays in im always suspicious of him going evil.

On the one hand, Von Doom's assistant should've said something. On the other hand.....what? To who? What could he say, "I think he might still be alive because a guy's tablet wasn't working?" Somehow I get the feeling that no one apart from Reed and co would think that was something to be concerned about.

Pretty cool to see you react to the old Marvel movies before the MCU. This movie in my opinion had a lot of potential. It wasn't terrible, but it could of been better. I think they movie just needed a more organized story. However, the only thing I would complain about is how they massacred my man DOCTOR DOOM!!!!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭
Doctor Doom is one of my favorite villains of all time! He's a king of his own country, and he master of both Magic and Science. He's even second in line of Sorcerer Supreme! Regardless, I'm curious to hear your thoughts of the movie 🙏🏽

This movie was pretty enjoyable but I feel they messed up on Doom. He is so much more bad ass in the comics. He doesn't have powers but is into science and magic which makes him a combination of Ironman and Dr. Strange. He could be the next big bad of the MCU if they do it right.

if i can be very honest, besides that the extended version can be considered better and the this is superior to the 2015 one, i kinda wish that TIM STORY would have achieved more to be like other award winning prominent filmmakers since his name is really cool and feels like he knows how to tell a "story", even most likely an action packed one, and i really thought he would deliver something grand and action packed in the hybrid TOM AND JERRY movie, but in the end, despite of his passionate direction of doing homage to the cartoons with that movie, it unfortunately didnt go that well.
PLUS, Around a week before that film was getting released, I had unexpectedly a dream that I was watching the movie with its climax and realizing that the manager, besides of being the conspiracy antagonist he was actually a terrorist whose purpose was to burn up the wedding and kill everyone around, and it was up to the trio, who were stranded on a boat, to get and return to the Wedding event to prevent the fire caused by a flying burned up kite accidentally made by the duo’s slapstick actions from the boat yet part of the manager’s evil plan when getting rid of the unaware trio 😳, i guess someone can dream, right? :/
