In the early 70s we could shoot skip all the way from our home in southern Yukon to virtually anywhere in the USA during the winter. It was quite amazing.
I run barefoot using a Uniden 510 XL with a Wilson Little Will antenna. I am in San Antonio, Texas and reached Ohio, Delaware, and Virginia.. Just have to have the right conditions.... :)
I know the video is old but it make me wanna get on my old radio Cobra 148gtl . Didn't know they discontinued it. Just sitting hit checking out setups and getting ideas for my new setup. I need a amplifier so I can skip west coast and out the country too lol.

Didn't hear anyone coming back to you . Maybe I need to tune my ears for Am but to me it just sounded like you were talking when nobody was coming back until the last contact with Arizona . Like I say it must just be me but I didn't hear anything before the final contact at the end of the video.
Sometimes those big radio stations won’t Answer you but I guarantee they hear yeah specially the lower channels 38 at the 40 they usually do. And talk to you OK this is shep but on side band I go by shepfc1
Hey check your ground on the antenna take it check it on the cable mess you got good ground I have a Wilson 5000 Measure your ground is good check the cable will you plug into the radio make sure you touch the ground on the vehicle in the ground on the coax will you plug in it make sure it’s got a good ground I troubled mind passing on my van that makes a big difference and you SWR good after I did mine my SWR is channel 1.1 On 40 1.1
Hey everyone! I am in Canada Québec here. I am trying to learn how to skip but my god I hear you guys talking with all these expressions and it looks so complicated! What are all these numbers you call for, like 105 etc? I would like to find something like « The Skiping Guide for Dummies »!

ever try it out around 27.605 LSB? used to be a popular hang out during the last good solar max.. also 27.535 lsb.
It is his DX numbers for skip land. Pick a number you like and u are ready to go....51 Oklahoma waving a hand 73's

Strange you can't make a contact with a amp in line. I run a barefoot galaxy 55hp and never have trouble making contacts out in DX land.
Theres a skip i hear every day on 6 and also 15 sounds like they are lower NY or a southern state, im in NB Canada
Channel 6 is the superbowl channel. They talk long distance I hear them when the skip isn't running when I was Manitoba and Nova Scotia.

How much power are you sending?
Drill the roof and install a 102" whip. You will talk 1700 miles with no amps.
Really depends on the conditions.
And that he was talking on channel 28, should of tried another channel a little sooner.

Queen creek AZ to Connecticut 411. On skip. One day talk about reaching out. On a 10 meter cb radio. WOW= WATTS ON THE WAVE.
