I rented one in 2004 when I was on vacation in California, we drove it from San Francisco to the Napa Valley then back down the Pacific Coast highway to San Francisco. I really liked it, it was roomy and comfortable.

Once you turn on your navigation, it'll display where the Chrysler logo shows up. If you don't turn the navigation on, it'll just stay blank like that.

At the price and with all those options that Pacifica is definitely a keeper.

When I drove a cab, I was in one of these and loved it! It was a really solid vehicle that hit over 360K miles before something happened with the engine. But even then, they were able to fix it, and I see it driving around every now and then since it was retired.

Naw probably a Chrysler tech, they are almost all universally bad. Biggest issue with Chrysler are the dealerships.

Pretty smart tech....talked the owner out of their car and evidently into a new sale at the dealership.

Not real sure why ppl would bad mouth the Pacifica. I have own at least 100 different cars makes models whatever and my 2008 Pacifica would have to be in my top 5 favs. Mine has 98K miles without a problem until recently the motor mounts failed ...a common occurrence for this auto. You save a gem

I had an '04 that suffered a broken timing belt which bent a valve. Up to that point, at 235,000 miles, it still got 23.5 on the highway, didn't burn oil and the trans was solid. Didn't want it when I bought it but it grew on me and I really did t want to get rid of it but...bent valve.

This brings memories back. My family had a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica AWD when they first released in the US Market. Because trim levels didn't exist yet, we essentially got a model that would be considered the Limited in today's market.
To see this thing run makes me happy. These were amazing cars brand new, and awesome snow vehicles.
The central cluster normally is home to the GPS system. If the screen goes black after the Chrysler logo, you may wanna see if the DVD ROM drive is the problem. The DVD ROM drive is located in the back hatch under a secondary hatch well behind some carpeting. If there is no DVD in the drive, you could find a 2nd hand one for hopefully cheap.
The GPS location also made these cars amazing. Super safe too.

My dad owned one of these, this sure was an awesome car. Me and my sister used to sit in the back and watch DVDs on the built-in player during long trips or vacation. Good times. :,) He bought it in 2003 and drove it until 2015, for a solid 12 years. I have so many memories in that car... It was an awesome ride and we never experienced any severe problems with it, except of some broken headlights in its last year of use.

I’ve always been a Chrysler and GM fan. We have 2 Jeeps and a Buick. My grandmother has a 2005 Grand Caravan. It still runs good. We used to have a 2012 Grand Caravan. The control arms were a common failure point on these Pacificas. I’m not talking about the Fiat badged Chrysler Pacifica, either. I know someone who’s daughter had one, and it had a bad control arm.

Every car has its ups and downs. I love my Lincolns and Mercurys but some people are Cadillac people and wouldn't touch a Lincoln. Personally i d rather have a Lincoln anyday...but that's personal preference. ..doesn't mean I'm going to sit here and call Cadillac garbage...cause it's not. People need to get off their high horse and calling cars they don't like garbage..or the worst..or this or that. It all depends on how they are taken care of.

I bought one of these (2006) in 2012 with 47,000 miles, 3.5 V6. Absolutely trouble-free car except for the AC evaporator going bad. It was base trim but with leather and tinted windows which was awesome, very comfortable Benz-like seats too. At 158,000 the transmission started to sound funky so I traded it in.

I'm aware of Chryler's reputation nowadays, but in my book, any "garbage-mobile" that looks and runs that well at 179k deserves a second chance! You're doing a good work Jay (along with all your buddies)! I wish more auto scrappers had a heart like you to save old cars if they can be saved. The same goes for that white '99 Toyota Solara convertible, and many other cars you have featured.
Too many car scrappers don't give a rip and just want to make a fast buck from scrapping them right away, or only seem to make a minimum cursory effort of advertising it on the internet, then crushing it on TH-cam, saying, "we gave you all a chance to save it, so don't bitch when we crush it!". That's what happened to one RUNNING unwrecked 1959 Buick. BTW, that video got DISSED BIGTIME in the comments (including from me).

  • @djhorn5769
    @djhorn5769 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I know this video is several years old, but it sounds to me like that dealership was trying to screw whoever owned this car in the first place. That is one of the quietest Chrysler vehicles I’ve ever heard.

Hey Jay Smart, I know this may be a little strange but please, read on. My girlfriend and I just moved down here to the Spartanburg area from Maryland a few months ago. One day we were out at our local Wally world, was trying to pick up some rad flush for my 88 XJ I've been working on restoring. As we drove through the parking lot we saw a very distinct looking XJ that had been chopped into a truck. Had a speaker that looked zip-tied on, on the rear left side. I thought nothing of it other then "that's pretty cool" and went about my day. Then I was watching some of your videos the other day and you won't believe how shocked I was to discover that very same truck-chopped XJ. From what I can see in your video it HAS to be the same one. Especially considering that was the first truck XJ I've seen in my life. Please, tell me that was you! If so, I'd love to meet up sometime and talk XJ's or just shoot the shit. I haven't made any friends since we've been here and it seems like we both have similar interests. Hell, maybe we could go scrapyard diving for XJ parts.

Not sure about the Pacificas but the minivans are usually good for at least 300k miles with the exception of weak transmissions on certain model years. If these last as long as the minivans then it'd be a great bargain for someone on a budget. Those engines have plenty of power.

I had an '05 Pacifica, great car when I bought it had 28K on the odometer when I traded it in form my '07 Dodge Ram 4X4 Quad Cab it had 72K on the odometer and I got exactly what I paid for it. Honestly I do miss that car, it was light blue with a grey leather interior. Guess I should mention that I spent a lot of time between Ohio and Virginia and Florida in the year and change that i owned it

I have had no serious problems with the Chrysler's I have owned. They have relatively simple engine control computers and I do most of the work on mine myself. The aftermarket is full of inexpensive parts to fix them and as long as you buy good parts you can easily get your money back and more out of these cars.

Chrysler's are reliable and last along time...
They just have a bad reputation by non Chrysler owners,or the people that owned them and never maintained them will complain at 180,000 miles that it needs minor work !
Well,I own a used car lot and I will tell you I see 120,000 mile Honda's and Toyota's with $10,000 in receipts for work done to them..Then I get a Chrysler with 120,000 miles and all they did ever was oil and a brake job !
All vehicles have water pump, timing belt, control arm, bushing issues today..Well,the majority of them..Thanks for the sealed suspension front end parts with no grease nipples !

Someone donated a boat to a charity that had a worn out single cylinder diesel, a mechanic determined this by checking the compression and looking at how old the engine was. The cost to replace was higher then the value of the boat, so it got donated, who would buy it? Turns out the exhaust valve was stuck open, you could hear it if you put your ear up to the air cleaner and cranked it. A good smack with a block of wood and it runs like new. The engine was recently rebuilt. It is a new engine. Some needs a career I'd suggest diesel mechanic. Bad diagnostic by a lazy mechanic is common.

I love Chrysler products, we own our third grand caravan, trouble free, our 2005 grand caravan was trouble free all the way to 290,000 miles, we sold it when we bought our Grand Caravan R/T. I wouldn't give you a nickel for a barn full of GM trucks, our 1 ton dually is nothing but trouble, and it rusts to shits just standing in the garage.

I dont doubt it. I dont know about Cryslers, but my dad owned many GMs (Kadett, Astra, Zafira and Vectra, in that order) and though he loved those cars, and the Kadett and Zafira were pretty damm reliable, he didnt really get to enjoy the other ones.
He hidrolocked the Astra in a flood (his fault) and the Vectras automatic transmission blew up. At 50.000 KM (some 20-30.000 miles). He then promissed he'd never buy GM again.

I HATE Chrysler products. 90s stuff was alright, but mid-2000s was HORRID. My mom's Dodge Caliber lasted a good 40K miles before it was junk. (laden with huge expensive problems) Meanwhile, my grandma's Saturn has 70-80K miles and never had any major problems.

In our family we have two GMC trucks from 1997 and they're still running, they haven't gave us any problems and there's no rust in them at all. Our Ram trucks (2005 & 2013) have been great also. Our Ford F150, Crown Victoria, Expedition and my uncle's Windstar all had problems, if it wasn't the tranny it was some electrical issue or something else, but they were always failing...

Good deal, these do have a pretty high resale value as people want them and they are reliable..
I have GM/Ford/VW/Honda/Toyota/Nissan with the same mileage and they needed the same type of repairs or even more than the Chrysler products needed..
People bash Chrysler because alot are jealous of the powerful cars they made in the 50's,60's 70's and even today..
Plus GM/Ford and Toyota guys hate the fact their car uses a Chrysler HEMI in Top Fuel , Top Alcohol,Funny car and Drag Racing, that really gets to them !!
Since 1992 The Viper dominated performance and road courses then the Hemi cars came out again and destroyed everything...
Thus GM/Ford guys bash Chrysler and most Import buyers bash them and anything American as being unreliable, yet they own more problematic vehicles.
I find that people bash them and never owned them...The majority of people never had a problem with them but never come out and tell people, more conservative I guess.

Yeah Mr. Customer your car needs a new engine (it's old and we can't sell it on our used car lot) so we will give you a trade in as it's not worth putting an engine in it we are doing you a favor :)

@@BigJon22091 I have the same exact one which is a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. When I say I really adore this vehicle I really do. It's down for the moment due to a bad alternator, pulley, alternator belt, motor mount and a tune up. I can't wait to get it fixed and be back on the road again.

One of my coworkers owns a 2005. I asked him about the monitor in thr speedometer, and he said that it is a navigation system. It will not display anything unless it is switched on with the keypad.

Yeah they only made these cars for a few years. Due to reliability issues they didn't make it and this gen of pacifica died. They brought the name plate back to replace the caravan/town and country name plate. But the new name plate is nothing like it's preprocessor. Nice looking vehicle though.

juan manuel icazbalceta sometimes they do keep the cars but if it's in good condition they don't scrap it at all if it's broken Transmissions done then they'll scrap it but if it's in perfect condition just a few dents and scratches still keep the car if they don't want the car they sell it
