That generation was more reliable, Far better interior, And plain funner, I'm looking for the same generation, If there was 1 thing that's better than the older gen camry's are the safety features. I think the newer camry's burnt oil until 2012..
Yeah I was surprised when I saw it was over 200,000 miles on it, I first though "no way, must be like 20,000!" Shame it's still from the ugliest era of cars ever.
@@GlamStacheessnostalgialounge Yeah, the exterior's OK, However the interior's horrible and the way the passenger airbag was added, Even a 94-96 camry airbag looked better, Even when it discolors.
@@WizardMower Nah, the exterior is the reason I don't drive anything from the 90s onwards. It's just really blobby and ugly, for "aerodynamics", which is bull as my old Peugeot from the 80s has a better drag coefficient than this Toyota yet still looks sharp and stylish, as a lot of other 80s cars do. Not saying the interior is any better, though. I think people enjoyed driving a lot more back in the day, today's cars are just so boring, no wonder you see so many abused ones.
@@GlamStacheessnostalgialounge True True, 2 reasons why I'd take a newer car than an older car is features, And safety. But other than that I'd take a 2001 toyota camry (Or 2000, I love the refreshed rear)
Back in the '80s I worked for a Buick/Olds Dealership, and of course that involved much pondering about the value of any car wholesale. The owner said, "Who knows that they're worth, they're worth what somebody will pay for them."
Such a pity about the Camry. They built them to last back then. Not my favourite era of Camry (I prefer the one before that came out in 1996 and *still* looks modern 25 years on - my mom has owned a 98 4-cyl 2200 from new and kept it in mint condition) but good cars all the same. Spiritual successor to my '82 Volvo - sturdy unpretentious no-nonsense cars that were designed as transportation rather than status symbols.
I always wanted one of thos camrys an XLE with all the options alloy rims V6, leather wood trim, rear manual sunshade, heated seats, fog lights spoiler and jbl audio system. I think some of the later ones had navigation option. But I got a Lexus ES330 instead with all the options, chrome rims, power rear sunshade, navigation touch screen, auto rain sensing wipers, sport suspension, mark levinson audio etc.
I have always wanted to build a rat rod with the six cylinder any brand and make the set up to work from trunk. Got to be a way to keep rear axle setup out of front wheel drive so that it didn't try to steer in the back like a little business coup and just hide it in the trunk area and then the Bonnet or hood be the trunk.. but from outside you would never knows till one or other is raised. Both those cars would be excellent to do this with. I like doing the weird and still run good setup.

Did you know the Rendezvous uses the exact same drivetrain and chassis as the Pontiac Aztec? GM had to do something with the tooling when the Aztec failed. My mom had a Rendezvous. When the trans burned out around 130k, she had it rebuilt at an Aamco, and they butchered the harness enough to cause electrical issues, which led to the fans not kicking on and the car overheating. Ended up selling it on Facebook for $600, since the engine had a blown head gasket with not even 20k on the rebuilt trans. Safe to say, I'm not a fan of those vehicles. If I had to pick, I'd go with the Camry.
