  • The new E-flite mSR ultra micro helicopter is truly something different and exciting for RC hobbyists. It is a hot rod for sure, but actually the flight characteristics make it pretty easy for most people to learn to fly in short order. However, the first experience with this little heli can be a bit surprising if you are not prepared for it. There are some simple steps to take when you get ready to fly it. Many people are considering the BNF version, and I have heard some people asking how difficult it is to bind and set up in their DSM2 transmitter. The settings are easy and straightforward. Follow along and we will show you how.
    Our video is going to emphasize three bullet points:
    •Bind-N-Fly transmitter settings first thing to do
    •Bind the mSR to your DSM2 transmitter very easy
    •Trim the heli out before the first flight this is fun

    These Ultra Micro models are a lot of fun and give you a chance to fly indoors when the weather is not conducive to flying outdoors, even late at night. Sort of a new hobby all by them selves. I expect to see people coming up with ideas of their own, maybe even scratch built UM helicopters??

    Thank you so much. The Blade MSR is my first entrance into the hobby. I have been really struggling with the stock controller of the MSR RTF kit, but having followed your instructions I am having far more fun flying the MSR using my new DX6I.

    Nevermind... Just got my blade trimmed out, hovers great! Thanks for the information!

    Ha Ha, yes, I did do that on another one just so the picture shows a helicopter in the screen. The only reason is to keep the setup as simple as possible. If you use the heli it is just about as simple, all the default (new Model Memory) settings are all that are required. Have fun either way, I sorta like the heli in the screen to.

    Push the left stick in while turning the radio on. This will place the radio in bind mode. We have a video on the site showing exactly how to do this with the mCX. The steps are exactly the same for the mSR.

    @horizonhobby  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well still to answer your question the SR (and also the mCX and the CX-family) don't utilize CCPM mixing. They are setup and designed to use the "standard" acro or airplane programming from a radio for ease of use.

  • @horizonhobby
    @horizonhobby  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @ehu42 The main reason is that the Heli mode has different mixes and such that, with these helis, aren't needed. You can set it on heli mode but it's not necessary.

    The BNF aircraft are only compatible with radios equipped with Spektrum DSM2 Air Technology.

  • @horizonhobby
    @horizonhobby  15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes it will

  • @horizonhobby
    @horizonhobby  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    They fly excellently in airplane mode. That's actually how I have mine setup on my DX6i. You're not really going to need the CCPM offered in the Heli-mode so there's no advantage, minus having the helicopter icon on the model screen.

  • @horizonhobby
    @horizonhobby  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @nickmcenjoy You should use the airplane mode. The heli mode brings things into play such as CCPM that you won't be using on the mSR.

    Since it is a not a collective pitch heli that is what Blade recommends.

    all helis are slightly unstable before take off. i think the drifting left is the torque of the main rotor,

  • @horizonhobby
    @horizonhobby  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @dieharddirtbikerida It is only compatible with radios featuring Spektrum DSM2-technology. I don't believe that radio is compatible.

  • @horizonhobby
    @horizonhobby  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Bind-N-Fly aircraft are only compatible with Spektrum DSM2-equipped transmitters.

  • @horizonhobby
    @horizonhobby  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @nickmcenjoy Pretty sure with any fixed pitch heli you'll use the Airplane mode as you won't need the CCPM functionality.

  • @horizonhobby
    @horizonhobby  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @nickmcenjoy Sounds like it's still not trimmed out properly. If it's a slow rotation I'd give it some trim in the opposite direction.

    The RTF is $159.99, BNF is $129.99

    Noticed you selected an airplane for the model type... why was that selected as opposed to a heli?

  • @MrModelEnthusiast

    hey Jim, just curious - why is it that fixed pitch helis will drift left before takeoff?

    Hi!
    Just bought mine mSP and I am a little bit frustrated with it: is it normal for this little hotrod to run to the sides tottally? I only manage to escape this after I put some altitude in it really fast (jumpstart),
    And I usually get some swirling around in the air. Could you make a video with the effects of "toilet bowl" and how to counter it?
    Also I have a question: It seams kinda stupid, but all I could see in the doc. was: "center trim before usage"... uhm alwalys? (using RTF)

  • @horizonhobby
    @horizonhobby  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @nickmcenjoy Is it a slow rotation or like it's bouncing around?

    A beginner question that would be helpful if covered - Why do you setup the DX6i for Airplane and not Helicopter? I would have guessed the model type should be Heli. I'm not a heli pilot (yet - hope to be by Christmas), so I'm not sure what the Heli settings are for in the DX6i.

    My MSR keeps loosing its connection with my transmitter. Not even 10 mins old. Got 4 batteries, fully charged. When i do have control and the blue light is on its extremely underpowered. Hardly enough to get off the ground. Sometimes it regains control, the blue light comes back on. The blue light goes off mid flight, i lose control but the heli is still trying to hover, then blue light comes back on i regain control. By this time its flopping around on the ground. regretting this purcha

    Hi. At 4:35 you mentioned that the MSR is backing up so you have to use down elevator. I thougt you use opposite so in this case if it's going back you push the trim forward? I'm new so I'm just trying to figure this out. Thanks for any help you can give.

    Buonasera, ho acquistato in data 11/05/17, un elicottero Blade 230S, aperto la confezione, davanti al mio rivenditore di fiducia, inserito la lipo, settato la Spektrum e messo in moto, praticamente il piatto si inclina senza motivo per un po' di volte, dopo di che come da manuale proviamo a fare il settaggi dei servi! Per fortuna che provate tutti i prodotti prima di farli uscire dalla fabbrica! Fumata bianca dell'elettronica e il blade è morto! Il rivenditore incomincia a mandare email alla Vs azienda per avere il l'autorizzazione a mandarlo in Germania a riparare! Ad oggi non vi siete degnati neppure di rispondere ad una delle sue molteplici email! Vergognatevi! Avete annunciato ai 4 venti che la vostra azienda aveva qualificato i rivenditori in Italia, e poi non rispondete neppure ad una email? Ma che azienda state diventando? Io i soldi li ho dati tutti Per avere nulla! Questo è il primo post. Vediamo se almeno al cliente finale vi degnerete di rispondere... ma credo proprio che anche a me non risponderete! Non lo fate con i vs distributori... figuriamoci se lo fate con i clienti. Lunedì andrò da un associazione consumatori e vedremo come andrà a finire.
