    Thanks for posting this video. I knew about how to adjust mine however its nice to see how easy it is to take the canopy off. Also, good on you for pointing out how to avoid bending the swashplate using the pliers for support. You will have saved countless helis with that tip. Its videos like yours that makes TH-cam a fantastic support tool. keep them coming.

    I have searched for hours trying to find out why my new metal swash-plate I installed was causing my Blade MCX2 to drift violently to the left. After hours of tweaking, taking apart, and putting back together only did I find this on my own. If only I would have found your helpful video before, you would have saved me sooo much time. I have thumbed this video up in hopes others who may have the same problem will see your upload. Awesome video!!!!

    Wow, your advice helped soo much. I can't tell you how grateful I am that you put this fix on youtube, because I was about to step on my MSR, as it kept going to the left, no matter how much I trimmed it on the controller. You rock soo much man. Thank you :D

    Very informative! I will be getting a Msr this week and with my existing helis, I always like to do the trimming at the heli and have as close to neutral settings on the Tx as is possible.

  • @thejayhay
    @thejayhay 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    earthling....excellent video on correcting trim. I would also recommend to unplug the battery and turn off the transmitter before making the adjustments. This will make sure that your trim settings are neutral after making the adjustments and turning back on.

    Thanks a lot, really useful advice. My WLTOYS V911 can not have fine adjustment like yours but only 2 holes, but it lifted that left "shoulder" and finally is not going left any longer!

    Agreed. I believe I always pushed the battery all the way till it couldn't go in anymore.

  • @2SLipo

    I use a DX6i for my GAUI200 and MiniTitan, and I make sure to 'hardware' trim the helis, so all trim levers on my DX6i are kept at neutral.
    I started doing it this way when I got the first helicopter I was able to hover successfully (SRB Quark). It uses an old 72MHz technology. I realized when the links are properly trimmed, it can crash land perfectly upright, thus preventing damage to any parts whenever it loses radio signal, or whenever LVC kicks in before I could land the helicopter.

    @earthling1984  15 ปีที่แล้ว

    I agree that is true. I didn't take out my battery during this video just because I was being lazy. It usually won't hurt the helicopter, but if you are tugging on the control rods, it is best to turn off the heli first! Thanks for bringing that up! :)

  • @earthling1984
    @earthling1984  15 ปีที่แล้ว

    for sure. It is always best to 'hardware' trim to center. So your controller is setup basically dead center on all trims. This also makes it easier to switch between different aircrafts; as long as all your crafts are setup to center (unless using a DX6i or better, then it saves all that information/settings/trimming for you - but even with a DX6i or better, you should still trim the hardware, it just seems better when the hardware is centered).

  • @earthling1984
    @earthling1984  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    Agreed. It is best to have the helicopter off. If you are careful you won't hurt anything, but if the heli is off, you are sure not to hurt anything.

    if your heli is going in a circle, you may need to do more than just electric trim it. First thing to try is the little swashplate tool, if you haven't used it, that may fix your problem(or at least the circle problem) then you can trim from there.

  • @earthling1984
    @earthling1984  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @bizzy420 I assume you might have a lot of forward trim in your transmitter? This forward trim uses some of the forward movement. So if you are trimmed forward a lot(to just hover) then you have little forward movement left to go forward. Adjust the links so your 'elevator' trim is more centered.

  • @earthling1984
    @earthling1984  15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes and no. It is a great single rotor to learn on... but if you are learning, and haven't flown before, I would recommend starting with either a co-axial helicopter or a computer simulator before moving to a single rotor.

    @cgraf83 could be many things. Could simply be a setting that needs to be changed, or maybe your tail motor is starting to lose isn't power and needs replacing.

    This is brilliant. Two turns took my mSR from left drift at full right trim to dead on balls accurate at neutral trim. Thanks!

  • @earthling1984
    @earthling1984  15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes, especially if using NOT a DX6i or better which save your trim settings. With a mCX/mSR controller, if you trimmed say all the way to the right with your mSR, then went to fly your mCX, the trim will still be maxed out to the right, causing the mCX to drift right... so left trim will be needed. Controllers like the DX6i save your settings so you have stable flight without trimming as it saved your last trim setting.

  • @earthling1984
    @earthling1984  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @kangmana09 I believe the mSR came with a swash plate leveling tool; try using that.

  • @earthling1984
    @earthling1984  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Christhereal any and every helicopter can require some trim at times. My mSR flew 100% perfect out of the box, and since then, still perfect. But if you crash, or replace a part, sure you might need to trim, it is something helicopter fliers need to do from time to time. The mSR is probably the best micro FP heli to learn on.

    I'm sorry you have had so much trouble! I did enjoy your comment :) Re-build and get it hovering, then take it slow!

  • @earthling1984
    @earthling1984  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @lasse5282 sorry I answered too quick without reading well. Hmm, I am unsure why it would be doing that. It could be that the throttle's aren't setup and aren't spinning correctly. Try starting your helicopter(plug in the battery) with the transmitter turned on, and throttle at 100%. After it is binded(rotors shouldn't spin up, but be on the lookout and ready to turn off if they do)... but start at 100% throttle when you plug in battery, then after a few seconds, put to 0% throttle.

  • @bushpilot223

    Another way to fix this is to check the horseshoe shaped piece of plastic that rotates with the rotor shaft and sits on top of the swashplate. Over time, this horseshoe shaped piece of plastic rises up the shaft. Get some needlenose pliers and squeeze it down as far as you can. Usually there is a tiny sliver of visible light thru it if you look from the side. Just get it as close as possible to the swashplate and it should fix your trim issues.

  • @DOBM
    @DOBM 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video, nicely described workflow. Thanks! My Bind & fly MSR was miles out and required not only maximum right trim but also considerably right stick on take off to stop it falling over on its left hand side (when viewed from the tail). Not sure why my unit is so out of tilt, looks like the manufacturers testing left something to be desired. Well done for the very useful video!

  • @earthling1984
    @earthling1984  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @biker1078rr this is actually a common problem. you could mix in some right stick with your forward movement to even that out.

  • @2SLipo
    @2SLipo 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    IMHO, trimming on the helicopter (not the transmitter) is always the best practice. It gives you full control throws on all directions.
    I only do trimming on the transmitter if there is a temporary load (like having to attach a small video cam) that affects the flight characteristics of the helicopter. This makes it easier to switch back to neutral trim when the load is no longer there.

    I had to do that as well. Mine flies geat. I have the CX2 and the mCX and I have alredy gotten my feet wet. I move the controll links to agressive and thats when my trim problems really became outta control. So I did what this vid suggests and it flies great! Also, when using the calibration tool the manual says to push up on the top of the swashplate until the tool is sandwiched......... I did that and my heli really went outta control. Make sure the swashplate is LEVEL after you do that.

    I just got my msr, and flew it once and it flew great. not very long since it was a new battery but flew nicely. the second battery i tried to fly my heli just wanted to spin to the left, and barely would do any right rudder and would start just spinning to the left in a hover. I was about to call horizon when I noticed that the tail rotor wires connector was half way out. that was it, they wrapped it around the body post too tightly so a rough landing will pull the wires out. flies great again!

    I've had a few micro helis and all of them had a slipping tail rotor shaft. It seems there are radial forces that are stronger than the slip-on tail rotor can handle. For mine, a tiny smearing of super glue to the shaft before pressing on the rotor blade made all the difference in the world for yaw control. In fact, I never had to replace another tail rotor! :)

    Nice video, I just bought a 120sr having the problem with constantly flying left. I had an MCX model for years and never had issues with it but this one keeps flying crazy. I took the canopy off and noticed the left rod was way noticeably lower than the right. I raised it and when my battery recharges I'm going to try taking off again. I mean this thing won't even hover straight it was very out of control.

    @MACSTER1981 FLY SLOW! For a FEW WEEKS! Hovering this helicopter is about as easy as the mCX. Once trimmed you can just take off and it will hover just fine. So learn to hover and stay in one spot for a while. Then do very slow movements - try circles and figure 8's, but do they slow. This helicopter, as you have seen in videos, can go very fast. You will have great fun with it, but the slower you learn on it, the less you will break :)

    @ tebster01: The only way to resolve this issue is to fly the helicopter. You can not expect a hands off hover with a tail rotor heli. Any helicopter with a tail rotor will naturally be pushed to the left by tail rotor thrust, even when it is in trim.

    please notice that the postion of the batterypack in the heli is very important too. if you place the battery in the heli too much forward it will be noseheavy. tail vice versa. if this is the case,nevermind trimming. you need to balance the helicopter aswell. the weight of the battery's have a hugh impact on these microheli's...

    We have the Jamara G230.4 (2.4 GHz, 3-channel) heli, and it does not have the trim knob in the middle, but it does have right & left trim buttons. When we hover it, it tends to go backwards rather than remain stationary. When we apply forward torque it does not go forward but keeps slipping slowly backwards. Any ideas?
