Regarding Spiritual bypassing, this process like any other maladaptive coping mechanism we adopt to survive an emotional pain is just a form of an attachment issue from childhood.
We may have origins of unmet needs where we could not get our love and comfort from anyone. This for many, may have sought religion to be the perfect answer to both my growth, spiritually, but unconsciously stunting growth emotionally.
In my opinion due to my own personal experience with spiritual bypassing. I have learned that knowing your Inner-Child with becoming as authentic as you can recover. Should be an opening to a greater understanding of God, the universe , a greater being.
    Transcending to wholeness.
Thus without awareness of Self or an awareness of a greater being. Having one without the other would lead to nothing.
