Is filing the body paint above the hinge part of the procedure?

took me almost 3 hours to get the doors off of the new (to me) wrangler last year. When i put them back on, i went with these bushings and the EZ on pins. I took the doors off again (finally) this past weekend.... less than 10 minutes to get all the doors off. These bushings worked GREAT. Was waiting to see how they worked out and they worked amazingly. thanks Q!

I was so ready to return this kit after I did a test fit on one of my doors on my ‘07 JKU and nearly couldn’t get the door back out. But I decided to give it another shot. Depending on how much corrosion and rust you have on your hinge pins, two strips of emery cloth isn’t gonna cut it. I needed a lot more. My local Advance Auto Parts had 3M Emery Cloth with coarse, medium, and fine grit in a single package. That did the trick in really cleaning the pins nicely. Secondly, I spent a lot more time filing out, and using a lot more force, on the hinge pin slots than I initially realized. I then used white lithium grease on the hinge pins for lubricant. I test fitted every door and they all slid in and out easily. I also closed and opened each door just to make sure things were OK. I’m happy with the kit now.

Jeep...the only vehicle where absolutely everything aftermarket is better quality than what's on the factory vehicle.

Stellantis needs to start making the hinges inside the doors. I mean I am a purist and a huge jeep history buff but if the ford bronco can pull off an easy internal hinge set up then so can Stellantis

I may never put my doors back on even though this product looks great. I removed the doors, 2nd time ever, and it was a challenge but I did get them off with the factory bushings on my JKU. I'll get these anyway just to have a chance of continuing to be able to remove the doors.

Have had these for about two years. Followed directions to the letter. If I don't take my doors off a few times a year, I literally have to use a floor jack to get the doors off. No, my door hinges are not misaligned and I made sure to use lubricant each time i removed and installed the doors. I am going back to OEM parts.

So two sleeves for one door ? Just goes in the body hinges and not the doors ? Is this correct. So four sleeves will do both of my front doors ?

Just did mine. Took about 20mins for both sides.

Ok, so I have an '08 and never removed the doors...ever. Now I need to replace the bushings and holy @#$! First of all, the doors do not come off as easily as portrayed in these videos. I just about threw out my back wrestling the driver's door before giving up. Second, with the one door I could get off, the old bushing is fused (I think) to the hinge and no amount of hammering is breaking it loose. The lesson here is to make sure you take you doors off often and don't wait to swap the bushings out. I fear my next step is...(shudder)...the dealership to get the doors off.

The clips from this video were on an 08. they did take some work to get off, using a floor jack, and a couple 2x4s and lots of rust penetrator.

I just spoke to our product development team, he said the conservative ETA is 4-6 weeks from now. We will have a video up for sure when they are available.

I just installed this yesterday followed the instructions and now my doors won't come out

    • @Quadratec

Check the alignment of the body side of the hinges. If you had to hammer really hard, they can rotate a little bit making it hard to get the doors out.

@@Quadratec Thank you for the response, so if that's the case how can I fix it now that the doors won't come off

    • @Quadratec
      @Quadratec  4 ปีที่แล้ว

You should be able to see the 2 bolts that hold each of the body side hinges in place with the door open. If you loosen those a little bit you should be able to adjust them to get them lined back up to get the door off. They would only have to move a little bit to bind up the door. Don't take them all the way off, take your time, loosen, make a small adjustment, and tighten back up, then try the door.

All this got me is one big mess. Got the doors off and attempted to remove a bushing with the tool. all that did is jack the bushing more. Now the driver's door is out of alignment. I guess I'll take it to my shop to get this mess straightened out. Oh yeah, the stress on the door caused my paint to chip off. Needless to say, I am not happy.

Sorry for the trouble. Some hinge pin bushings are far more corroded than others causing a bit more force to get them out.

You don't know the half of it. All my doors were jacked and needed a floor jack to help them out. Then the driver's door was so tight I bent the door and knocked it out of alignment. My local body shop came to the rescue. Three Benjamins to fix. At least I can get the doors off now. BTW the wife wants suicide doors. I can here it now, Hello, Quadratec?

I'm in the process with my 1999 Sahara and I can't believe what I am going through. I have actually ordered new hinges and top window hinge. Had to use torches to heat some of the screws to get them out with an impact drill. I bought this jeep for a project but never expected this.
