My question is how did Agnes get qualified to open up a restaurant at all? There are many factors just to open a home - based business - much less a restaurant. That part of this story made no sense. However, it was entertaining at the end watching Agnes grovel before Jenny and Derek.
@@lindahill7315 That's not what I meant. Agnes got a restaurant started. In all cases, one would have to go through a barrage of checks( such as a credit check ) before you can get a landlord/building owner to sign a contract/lease agreement with you. Not to mention having to start accounts with suppliers; government agencies( taxes ); insurance agencies( self explanatory ); etc.. How Agnes managed to get as far as she did was confusing. Plus, managers do not make for good chefs. Chefs are better for cooking meals. Go figure.
Theme of the story was a refreshing change I gotta wonder how she managed to open a restaurant where she did, as easily as she did. There's a LOT that goes into opening one and getting a location
The icing on the cake would be if Jenny opened a new steak house at the location of Agnes' failed one and it became really popular and was a huge success.
My relatives opened a cafe, bought the place at a popular location. Instead of keeping to espresso drinks, they decided to buy expensive freezer and other equipment to start serving muffins and cookies and breakfast burritos, foods that most of their customers wouldn't buy. So they bled money month after month. And they were positive it would work. It failed. They are still in debt.
Good morning, everyone from Alabama. Wow, what a drama queen. And yes a restaurant owner does open and close each day. I know too many owners. Good story
My uncle built up a factory from a garage workshop. The whole family had to work hard for their luxuries . The only thing was that good that he retired early in comfort and no worries
So its no longer just text stories, it's just dialogue stories?? Okay then, cool...and ohmygod, this MIL had no business being a business owner at all, so unprofessional... even though the realtor really did "sell" her that location pretty heavily, whilst knowing how ignorant she was a firsttime business owner, when he called it "lucky" I rolled my eyes a little lol
If I was the mother-in-law I would cut my losses, close down, and admit defeat. It seems that she has a lot of luck... all bad. Running a restaurant isn't for everyone, even good ones has risks, it is a difference between swimming in profits and drowning in debts, isn't serving customers bad meat a health risk, you have to know what you're doing when it comes to running a business such as a restaurant.

I had always heard the phrase “the best of intentions are the path to H***”. My thought is that arrogance makes the journey way quicker. That MIL has no clue about running a restaurant. Opening one is more difficult. then especially 45:20 Agnes’ thoughts about the meat possibly sitting around a little too long. Augh 🤢 this is food-bourne illness territory/lawsuit. I wonder what scores the restaurant has received from the inspection by the Board of Health.
The funny thing is that when I was working in a city centre factory . A few of my colleagues used to visit a woman in her home at lunchtime for homemade food at cost price It was cheaper than takeaways
Most people start restaurants/cafes ect based on what they like and think people should like, instead of reading the clientele and working with what works for the customer not themselves. There is a reason food courts basically have the same food choices no matter where they are!
Hi Bridget! It's not looking too bad here, but we were expecting rain this afternoon, so we didn't go out, and now we're stuck with a neighbour's dog!( A long and annoying tail, sorry, tale)

Sounds like Agnes doesn't like that her sons actually grew up to be good men, no big little boys hanging on her apron.
Envy is a terrible thing, as this MIL learned! Her downfall was very entertaining to listen to though. 😂
I hate mother-in-law’s like this
A great story very different no cheating no nasty siblings ❤
Lol ‘your own narrative in your head’ lol I like him so far 😊
Why do these MIL think, it is all about them. They want their sons to stay ababy forever.😮
Then complain about no grandchildren

You are correct, and you have to have permits, inspections and a business license. Many areas will not allow a business in the resident area

Yeah confused me too 🤷♀️ but anything can happen in a story 😂😂
@@samuelchappell7280 I am more confused by her saying the realtor "sell" her the place but her still having a landlord
The MIL is so noisy... And if she can't cook well, she can at least hire a capable chef
Yeah, an ideal mother-in-law is one in a billion rare in the Apple Text Universe
My mum in law was lovely! Every mum in law I know is lovely.( including me , I hope!)
@carolroberts4614 I love my MIL, we still talk even though her son and I are getting divorced.
Agnes was so blinded by envy that she ruined own life and now no one would help her.
Agnes really thought she could just take over Eileen’s restaurant all Willy Nilly

Kinda goofy how the mom passes away and they’re having her funeral the same day.
Agreed
Wow, wants to open a restaurant on someone else's dime. Sure, I've got $50k-$75k laying around that I want to piss away.
Bye bye mom, dont call us we will call you (not).
ok, how did the realtor "sell" her the place if she still has a landlord?
Why is the "after that" doesn't say what came after, but is just a rehash of the story that we've already heard?
Who in the world is going to do anything for that mean mil putting her dil down all the time, she is sooo jealous
She is crying and crying, she has pushed all her family away 😮

It's so odd to see the real life spoken conversation in text. Not used to this in these, but it's been a while. How strange. Lol
It’s kinda interesting to imagine the scenario as if we were seeing it in front of us, characters and all

I think it meant.....a Lot of drama in the restaurant between OP and crazy MIL.

Agnes thought running a restaurant was easy peasy? Guess she found out that she is not responsible enough to try that
