KVD's thoughts on jerkbaits confuse the hell out of me. most people recommend rods with medium power or moderate action or both so you don't bend out the hooks and lose fish. i've also seen him recommend having the drag locked down when fishing jerkbaits, which to me also leads to bending hooks. And lastly, most folks recommend 10 or 12 pound line, to get the bait to the target depth but also for better action, but KVD claims he gets better action with heavier line. What gives? I use a MH Moderate Fast rod, 12 pound flouro, and I set my drag a little bit loose, and I loosen it even more once I've hooked a nice fish. I've had way more success since I started fishing jerkbaits that way.

Just a thought. Loop knot on a hard jerkbait?
I use a small snap. Gives the freedom for the lure to move around like a loop knot and it makes it easy to change lures.
