When the internet was still new. Playing Quake 2, StarCraft and TFC all night and watching these guys.
no kidding! i played those exact games. I went through the 32.6kbps connection with no anti-aliasing on board graphics, upgraded to a 500mhz with a voodoo 2 graphics card and it was like i was in a new world. def miss these days. internet is still cool, but it's not the same as when it was new.
@@ataridc at the time I had a compaq presario machine with a 300mhz pentium 2 and then a couple years later I bought a custom built machine with a 700mhz amd. I remember when I first started playing online my latency was horrible. Finally went to circuit city and a bought a $100 56k US Robotics modem, installed it and decreased my latency by more than 50%. Internet back then was a place you could escape to. Now it's something you can't escape from.

Spot on. Remember being a Starwars fan made you a loser? Remember when comic-cons were about comic books. I knew it was over when the San Diego Comic Con became a Hollywood / Movie Star event.
yes we had to go to this channel and toonami for any anime fix. these guys were like the original streamers, i hung out watching them for their personalities as much if not more than the knowledge. if there was a 24/7 rerun of their shows id watch it.

Thank you for these! I wish TSS was a show that was recorded in full as it would be wonderful to rewatch it. The beginning topic had the guy, his gf and his gf's sister with computer science education. How fascinating, coming from someone who also majored in comp science. It's a little crazy when you think about how much of that has changed. We have kids now who want to be tik Tok and youtube sensations instead of chasing programming and engineering. They say the rich get richer, but you never hear the smart get smarter? I mean as far as a gap in education and information.

There's The New Screen Savers show if you haven't checked it out. I'm not sure it was well advertised because most people don't seem to know. It was great too. Lasted only a few years though and for some odd reason they disabled chats in youtube.

Like everyone else I miss these times, but that commercial break in the middle of the show with no advertisers but ZDTV kinda shows why they had to be acquired, and the rest is history.
i just wonder if it was ahead of its time or just bad management because now streaming is the big thing and on top of that Leo has been running his twit network for almost 2 decades now.

They started to under utilize him later. He was smart and very knowledgeable. I loved his chat on music and audio technology that Leo wasn't able to cover. Then they stuck him in the back and kept him there as laughter until he got his own show. But I preferred his technology talk.
Oh yeah I should also add he came back to the new screen savers show a couple of years ago if you'd like to see more of him in recent years. Too bad it only lasted a couple of years. I think we really needed that ahow.
