    I have zero side effects with Crestor 10mg after 1 year and I’m an enhanced bodybuilder. But I do take 240 milligrams of CoQ10 from pure encapsulations. I do infrared sauna, red light therapy and stretching which could also prevent pain from Crestor

    The JUPITER trial with Crestor caught my attention more than any other trial. It actually made me lose faith in pharma and industry sponsored studies. Ridker's patent on CRP test raised a red flag for me.
    But then it got worse. They stopped the 5 year trial at 1.9 years. Although there were very few events, they had the numbers they needed to take this to market, and stopped it before the trial had a chance to backfire.
    Then it grew worse. They published a 5 year NNT based upon a calculation. But those numbers NEVER transpired in reality. It was a weather forecast at best. Then sold it to the FDA.
    I had to agree with the Cochrane review - "Nothing special here."
    My consumer take on it? JUPITER was a marketing strategy to sell more Crestor using inflammation as the bad guy instead of cholesterol. It worked for Ridker and Crestor. But I lost all faith in industry sponsored studies.

      The key for me is whether or not it reduces inflammation. Dr Brewer says it does and I'm sure he's researched it thoroughly as well as verified it in actual patient use. Until I learn something contrary I'll continue taking 2.5mg three times a week.

    I have normal blood pressure and only borderline high LDL and type 2 diabetes. My BMI is 30. I was put on 5 mg of rosuvastatin 1 year ago and my LDL dropped in half within 3 months. Last week the muscles in my legs started to ache and I suffered from fatigue and headaches. I stopped the rosuvastatin 4 days ago, started 100 mg of CoQ10 daily and today I feel normal. No leg pain or headache. I will try taking rosuvastatin only 3 times a week along with 100 mg of CoQ10 daily. I believe the 5 mg of rosuvastatin daily was too high. This might be because of a 10 lb weight loss over the past year. I will monitor for side effects as I loose more weight and get more exercise. Thanks for your discussion.

My cholesterol has gone up some so I now take 10 mg Rosuvastin daily. Still no leg muscle pain. I believe I must strive for more weight loss and exercise to keep cholesterol under control. A healthy nutritious diet is also important.

    there are multiple low dose studies, using as little as 2.5mg 2x weekly, that have shown very low dose infrequent Rosu use to reduce LDL by about 30%, which isn't much less than the high dose daily protocols. I certainly only want to take the bare minimum of any medication to have the desired effect

    I was on Crestor at 20 mg daily. I cut it down to 10 mg every other day to control muscle aches and fatigue. At that dose my LDL went to 98 and my CRP was .4. My new cardiologist is trying to move me to Livalo, but I am starting by keeping my Crestor at 10 mg, twice a week, and the Livalo (2mg) twice a week. So I take one or the other, every other day. The doc also wants me to take Zetia once a day, and is looking at other issues to explain the fatigue. I hope this is reasonable. I have a 30 year history with Statins and about 29 years of muscle aches and pains.

    My hscrp is undetectable even without statins but my CIMT was merely stable even after losing 55lbs and going keto. I'm using 2.5mg rosuvastatin 2x per week. I'll have a CAC soon and a CIMT later. You cant treat a disease if you don't measure its progression yet most doctors use only LDL to dose statins. No wonder people get side effects. You want to reduce damaged ldl not intact ldl. LDL is essential for immune response and energy transport.

    @janeaswell9545 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Wondering why no one talks about how easy it is to use 23andme information to predict possible muscle and energy side effects of statins. This is documented in the medical journals. DNA differences in the genes that transport statins or genes that result in energy production are associated with statin side effects. One of the genes affected allows for the transport of statins into liver cells; the transport protein can be defective, causing the statin to build up in the blood to toxic levels. Ask your physician to test you for these SNPs.

      @@PrevMedHealth Hi , I enjoy your videos as you and I are similar as far as heart disease even though we thought we were doing all the right things. I am 65 . I just asked my cardiologist to change my statin due to muscle aches.He switched me from atorvastatin to rosuvastatin. I have not started it yet. What is the test to see whether the statin is reducing inflammation if there is such a test??

  • @peggyl7565

    Hello doctor... after watching your videos on rosuvastatin I asked my doctor to put me on a low dose. I've been on Lipitor but you mentioned rosuvastatin helps with inflammation. He put me on the 5 mg and you mentioned 2.5. It's my understanding five is the lowest dose so does that mean you're splitting a 5 mg tablet in half? I'd appreciate it if you can let me know thanks.

      Yes. I have a lot of people split it.

      My heart doctor put me on 10 mg. I had a lot of leg pain. Lost 3/4 of my strength. My GPS is on the same medicine he said split it in half and only do it on Sundays call it Crestor Sunday and that's what I'm doing. I used to be on atorvastatin until I complained to my heart doctor so he immediately switched me too Rosuvastatin it made the pain worse

    Hi,
    I have FH and are taking 40mg of rosuvastatin and 10mg of ezetimibe. I don’t like the idea of taking statins and I have seen many videos on TH-cam about not needing to take them.
    What are your thoughts on statins with FH. Is it the same as normal high cholesterol.?

    • @PrevMedHealth
      @PrevMedHealth  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have many videos on this. Just search my name & FH. The bottom line is that cholesterol matters, whether FH or otherwise. But it's very over-rated. Meanwhile, carb metabolism is very under-rated, even ignored.

      How have you been doing so far? I'm on the same boat as prescribed by the cardiologist, but hesitating to take up such heavyweight statins.

    I’m already on 10mg of Atorvastatin 10mg. My ldl is in the 50s, HDL in 60s, Tryglycerides in the 40s. Lp (a) was around 100 over a year ago. I’m a type 1 diabetic in early 30s. Would it be wise to ask my doc to add 5-10mg of Crestor to the 10mg of Atorvastatin I already take?

    Because of a mixture of problems with my online drug pharmacy, and getting a renewal prescription from my md i missed a week almost 2weeks of Rosuvastatin but I found that the majority of my muscle aches and pains went away and I feel better physically than I have in a long time. I have always thought I was feeling the effects of the medication and mentioned the fatigue and muscle weakness to my physician who chalked it up to arthritis. MY initial medication was Simvastatin and a year ago I asked my new doctor about Rosuvastatin and she switched. Rosuvastatin has been better at getting my total cholesterol down my HDL is about 5 point up but i am am restarting exercise and reducing my weight. Is there a lower dosage or can the 10mg be halved. I've spent today listening to many videos and at this point I do not want to take it again but will initiate my normal dosage tonight. The one thing I took out of my life was stress by retirement. But my total and bad cholesterol only hit the good levels after Rosuvastatin and i have used it for two years but I have taken a statin for at least 25 years and I am tired of muscle aches and feeling sore. My next check up will have to result in some changes.

      I was initially prescribed 10mg and then 20mg. Severe muscle pains. I’m now on 5mg and tolerate it well. LDL is real close to what it was on 20mg, so it’s doing a great job. My calcium score has increased, but it’s expected as it calcifies soft plaque.
