I am surprised he didn't set up the traps in "dummy" mode for a few days , to lure them in.
From literally making primitive traps out of sticks to digital traps capturing our hearts. This channel has come a long and way!

I’m really glad you’re on TH-cam, Shawn! This could totally be a cable TV show where they stretch it out to 30 minutes and have way too many commercials, the way you do it is so much better to watch. Great job!
It'd be awesome to see him on Nebula/Curiosity Stream with the other educational TH-camrs. Then he'd have someplace to upload the complete footage without TH-cam censors.
I am so disappointed with contemporary TV. For example, "America's Funniest Home Videos" is an hour of broadcast time. Never watch it when it is broadcast, record it. Skip 20+ minutes of advertisements, another 10-15 minutes of the "host" talking about the actual content. Actual watch time? 20-30 minutes, and the networks want me to give them an hour of my time.
TH-cam may sometimes have a lot of advertisements, but it still beats the heck out of network TV for content density.
Rule 1: never waste bacon on rats.

As an alternative to pesticide laden spray foam, regular high expansion foam with steel wool pads pressed in works great. They don't like to chew through the metal. Fill the hole 1/2 way with foam, stick in some heavy steel wool and top off with more foam.
The production on this is really really good. Almost like a cable show. Color saturation is a little weird sometimes

They probably had old fluorescent lights. Or cheap Chinese LEDs. That's why the real pros still use incandescent lightbulbs.

I mean, 10 seconds later.. he says that it doesn't really mean that this restaurant is dirty.
Just a little hint on using the spray foam: If you hold the bottle upside down you'll use all the foam before the gas runs out. (I learnt the hard way)

I've been an exterminator in Las Vegas for 11 years now. Best traps I've ever used are the victor snap traps. Try rubbing a dead rat on your brand new traps I find that when I do this I have more success.

Those old school buildings have the worst basements with the crawlspace/basement combo like that. Makes it difficult to figure out where rodents are entering sometimes. Good work.

I've always had great success with cooked bacon and those metal snap traps, if they are too wary I leave them unset for a few days so they get comfortable eating the bacon from the trap then set them, great kill ratio that way 👍😊🐁🐀🇦🇺🦘

@@andrewharper1609 - That is BS! He used to be into making primitive tools and his trap videos way outperformed the others so he started doing antique mouse traps and his subscriptions blew up!
I think he always did it and had the idea to do it on TH-cam and many suggestions later it keeps evolving

Somehow, he went from flint knapping to primitive trapping to pest trapping.

Might be due to weak lighting in the basement and/or different temperatures of different lights. Just a guess.

when spray foaming a hole its always a good idea to reinforces the foam with steal wool. That way they have to the time to chew through it and they will most likely move on instead. This trick also works will with sparrows and mice.

What species of rat did you capture the most throughout your rat catching history?
My guess would be the Norwegian or brown rat simply because it's the most numerous across the globe. I know he's caught a few pack rats and Nutria but I think of the videos mostly show brown rats.
