I wouldn't suggest doing a really intensive part time job though, maybe look into tutoring which is flexible and remote, and also jobs around your uni campus. • @zafaris
      @zafaris  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Hey Oliver! This might be a bit of a long reply 😅
      At A levels, I took Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and I managed to get 4 A*s. For UCL CS, Maths is required and Further Maths is recommended. The other 1/2 subjects could be anything really. I guess Physics or CS are pretty good ones to take, and Chem was completely irrelevant.
      If you are applying for Computer Science, I would suggest you start learning programming now, as it will help you tremendously. Also there are loads of great free online resources to learn coding (eg. CS50, TH-cam, Codecademy, Freecodecamp). Once you get more familiar with coding, I would highly recommend you start building your own personal projects. They don't have to be huge or amazing, but this way you'll have a head start and can start building up a GitHub portfolio.
      At the end of the day, UCL is going to look at your A level grades and your Personal Statement. Aim for the highest A level grades you can achieve, but that's only the first step! All the stuff I've mentioned before, you can add to your personal statement, as well as anything else you've done in the past. Ask your teachers for help with your personal statement, to make it the best that you can.
      Finally, I would suggest joining the r/sixthform discord and other similar channels related to computer science and UCL, so that you can connect with like-minded people and ask them for guidance as well.
      Please reply if you have any more questions and I will try my best to answer them. Hope this helps!
      Imaad :)

      Hey Ruchika, I know a few people in my year group who didn't do A Level Further Maths. Just make sure you get that A* in normal maths. Also you'll have to put in a little bit more work than those who did it so that you can catch up

    • @zafaris
      @zafaris  ปีที่แล้ว

      First of all, that's quite a big achievement so well done! From what I can see online, you should still add your AS grade to your UCAS application, as it is a qualification. I would definitely recommend that you ask your teachers, cause they will probs know more than me haha.

      Hey Sahana! I had the same problem before and I would have a hard time remembering the whole script. What I would suggest is: write up your script on your phone/laptop and then record small sections at a time. Remember, if you mess up one section, you can always record it again! Also, I use bullet points for my script instead of writing out each word. Hope this helps! 😁

    I dont know much about UCLs undergrad compscience until I saw this video, (great video btw). But as a postgrad, I strongly deter anyone from taking the Finance degrees in Compscience. The structure is very poor, and the teaching is even more messy. Although the professors are highly qualified, their pedagogical skills are left wanting; if you truly want to learn something rather than just achieve some prestige from the degree offered, I highly recommend you search elsewhere.
