    Please mark down "SORE afraid" for my vote/opinion. I certainly heard your words and thought "I must remember this!. I reckon I'm not the only one, either. It felt like precisely what needed to be heard today. BEAUTIFUL story, recollections. Paul, your playing was so sweet. THANK YOU. God bless the souls of the Wilson brothers and all their people. 🙏🏼 💞 🙌🏼

    Pap wrote a beautiful song to encourage others and glorify Jesus. What a blessing to hear Pap reading scripture. He truly is singing in heaven now. You sang it beautifully. I have no doubt Pap is smiling from ear to ear and telling others in heaven, that’s my boy sharing the good news of Jesus through music. Thank you for sharing the song, the hand written notes and the picture of Pap with us. I know you, Tipper, Granny, Steve and all the family dearly miss him on this earth. One day you all will be reunited again.

    So encouraging Paul.
    Leave the song just the way pap wrote it. Do not add or take away. Sometimes I know i can "think" things to death... God laid it on their hearts that way. Trust pap , if you believe he was led by the Holy Spirit then it is as it should be. Loved the song , the picking and the singing.

      Thanks, Sharon. I hear you loud and clear. Now that I found the old lyrics sheets, I can always sing that second verse if I want, but I agree the song is enough as I sang it here. :-)

    Sore afraid, not only is it true to the word. If you have ever experienced a heartbreak so hard, it can really make your heart ache your body hurt throughout and sadness so heavy. It is deeper, afraid of loss is huge. Hearing such things as you will not see "them" again. That can cause a person to die of heartbreak. Sore afraid, please. Those that experience it know what you are talking about

    Very timely song, given the times in which we live. Please keep “sore afraid” and seek God’s will for another verse. My father was a gospel singer/songwriter. Many times I heard him tell my brother he needed a word or line for a song he was writing. They co-wrote quite a few songs, which makes it even more special for our family. Enjoyed your video.

    Another good song from Pap and you did nice job on the vocals and the guitar. But I really appreciated your comments at the beginning. I can relate to what Ira was saying about the pleasures of the world. I find that alot of my prayer time is spent asking the Lord to change my heart and love the things that he loves. I've come to realize that all my rebellion and sinfulness really all can be boiled down to the fact that for a given moment in time I fell for the lie that something else was more beautiful and satisfying than God Himself. So you're absolutely correct that we can be enthralled and frightened of something all at the same time. So I try to spend a fair amount of time repenting of "all the vain things that charm me most'.

    "Sore" is an archaic term meaning acute or extremely. It describes more than just physical pain or displeasure. The word isn't seen much anymore as "sore" but it appears sometimes as "sorely" as in he/she will be sorely missed.

    Dear Paul, first and foremost I’m so glad you and your entire family had such a beautiful Sunday of fellowship at the Dyke’s family home. I know that must have meant a lot to all of you and certainly was a beautiful day. And of course, I learned that song here comes Jesus walking on the water when I was very young in vacation Bible school. I love that song, but I’m sure it was written in a children’s version. I still can sing that song today. I was probably about 5 or six years old. It was one of my favorite. I so enjoyed your preamble leading up to the song finding it so informative. Jesus kept me from drowning in number of situations so that song really hit a note. Of course since I am an avid writer I would definitely love to see you add to the song. Not that it’s not beautiful just the way it is!!! Love and God bless everyone and have a beautiful weekend. Esme’💛🫶🌸🌟
    PS I would keep sore for sure.

      Thanks so much, Esme! I don't know how I failed to respond to this comment back when this video was uploaded. I noticed the same thing with several other comments/replies from/to other folks on this video and other videos. I'm starting to think that TH-cam might be rejecting or removing my replies because I am using NordVPN, which can make my IP address look like it's in several locations around the world. That may have nothing to do with it. I don't know. Just wanted to share that so you and others will know that I wasn't ignoring your nice comment. Thanks again.

      @ Dear Paul, I totally understand. I also use that VPN as well. I just figured you were too busy to answer which is totally understandable. Sometimes I see my comments just disappear as well. So I’m not sure what happens but thank you for taking the time out to explain that to me. It meant a lot to me. When I write comments, which I don’t write to many people they truly come from my “HEART” and it’s much appreciated that you answered this today. Warmly, Esme’.
      PS Paul God bless you always. You are truly a good man and have a heart of gold. 🫶🌟👍 plus you are a gifted guitar player and a great singer.♥️

    Beautiful song. Very comforting. 😊 . I would keep sore afraid in the song there is more depth and meaning. I have anxiety attacks because of a head on collision. That is being sore afraid for me. Getting in a car is sometimes very hard.

      Thank you, Joy, and I'm so sorry to hear of that challenging condition! I pray that it will lessen and go away over time. Granny was in a head-on collision in her late teens or early 20's. She wasn't seriously hurt, but several passengers were ejected from the car. It took her a long time to be willing to learn how to drive because of it. God bless you.

    So afraid or sore afraid. In today's climate, Paul, I believe using so in place of sore would make the lyric more easily understood. But if you feel like sticking with the lyrics Pap wrote, then go for it. Either way, it's a great song. If you decide to add another verse, my recommendation is to write it about contemporary life.

      Thanks, Noah! That's an insightful take. I think that's precisely what Ray was thinking when he changed it to "so." To your point, maybe I could give a little speaking intro right before the music starts anytime I sing this song in public. A little audience interaction goes a long way sometimes in helping people better connect to a song. :-)

    I vote for sore afraid out of KJV! Also, I think you should write another verse or two based on Bible. I enjoy your channel and your gospel music. Your family seems so much like my own Smoky Mountain family!

    I think "sore afraid" could be a typo? although even so, it holds meaning through how painful and crippling fear can be. Perhaps it was supposed to say "so afraid" in the KJV Bible.
    I was curious so I looked up the verse in Greek and Aramaic and they translate to "and they feared with a great fear" or "and they were afraid, with a fear so great."
    All that being said, I absolutely loved this song, it's beautiful and touched my heart! God bless!
    Eta: was just reading through the comments, and someone pointed out the word sore being used to emphasize the heightened and extreme fear felt. Like "sorely afraid". It makes sense to me now with British english at the time the KJV version was translated.
    Also my 2 cents is to keep it original with sore.

    I’m sure there are a lot moving parts, behind the scenes! If I may offer a word of advice, try not to strive for perfection, “you be you”and you’ll find it much more rewarding!🙏❤️🇨🇦

      Tammy, thanks for watching and commenting! The instrument on the left side of the screen (the one standing upright) is called a Mountain Lark. It was custom made by a craftsman for a local musician in our area. Unfortunately, the musician passed away from cancer before the instrument was ever finished. I bought it at an auction to raise money for the Brasstown Fire Dept. The instrument on the other side of the screen is an auto harp (as played by Mother Maybell Carter). Here are links to me playing both instruments, in case you are interested to know how they sound: th-cam.com/video/-xjitIAQ1Sk/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/r6h8DdWdIWc/w-d-xo.html

    Omni cord?

    • @BlindPigAndTheAcorn
      @BlindPigAndTheAcorn  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Sorry, Tammy. That part was probably confusing. I was referring to an omni-directional microphone. An omni-directional mic picks up sound in a 180 degree pattern in front of it. The typical microphone (unidirectional) picks up only the sound directly in front of it.

    It's a beautiful song as is. But if you were to write another verse it might be nice to write about something from everyday life. Showing the biblical truths are still relevant today.

    • @BlindPigAndTheAcorn
      @BlindPigAndTheAcorn  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Carolyn, excellent point! The Bible is just as applicable as it ever was, and if the world lasts another 100 years, that will remain true or become even more true! Now that I found the other verse that Pap created (in rough draft form), I think that's the way he was going with the second verse, so that's what I'll try to do whenever I perform this song.

    Sore vs. So? Sore, every time. KJV reads like poetry don't you think? It's sore afraid in the Bible. If it gets called out for correction, it'll present an opportunity for explanation.
