Fun Trivia: The couple with the three daughters at the table near John and Dan was played by Ben Piazza and Gwen Banta. Gwen went on to have a successful career in acting and writing. Genius scene. Dan Akroyd looks like he’s feeding a dog, which I’m sure was the director’s intention. John Belushi was incredible in this. One of the best films ever made. 40 years on and it’s still great.
My Uncle died last year and there were certain movie lines he would drop out of nowhere mid convo that make me chuckle when he I hear them again. "Coleeee Trickle" and "How much for the leeetle gurllll. Sell me your cheeeldrun"
Sidenote: Many people don't realize that Reuben's was also a Flemish impressionist painter and invented the Reuben sandwich and also managed the Partridge Family
My father was a piano tuner that traveled North America he was called out to LA as the company had a client that wanted his baby grand tuneup. The story goes he only received a address and was greeted as the gate by security guards. He made his way inside as the owner wasn’t expected to be home well after this service call. My father started like always tuning from one side to the other….sometime during the tuning my father looked down and John was laying on his back underneath taking off the strings as he was tuning the last set. My father could do nothing but laugh out loud and shaking his head. The piano didn’t get tuned that day and sadly my father never saw John again. I’m glad my father got to meet himZ
The restaurant was the Chez Paul and it was as pompous in real life. I used to take salesman there for lunch in 1980. I wasn't paying. Once on of our fellows only wanted drinks so had 3 doubles while we ate lunch. Cost? 34$ each for the drinks in today's money. For the lunch, in today's money, about 300-350. I left a nice tip. How did the drinks affect the salesman? You wouldn't know he had a drink and he went back to work.
Love how Paul Reubens (AKA Pee Wee Herman) is playing the waiter. He was in Cheech and Chong's Nice Dreams too playing the Hamburger Man ("I'm NOT sorry I took the money - nmahhh ha ha ha!")
One of the funniest things I've ever seen was on SNL where they had the 'killer bees' which later became the Blues Brothers perform in their bee costumes. John doing the breaks at the end of the tune, faking out the band had me in stitches.
Ever since my granddaughter has been born (4+yrs) and we meet for dinner I greet the table with “How much for the little girl?” For the first two years, my daughter in law was clueless. She just figured I was insane.
I did this in a pub outside Rainham England, i made a honest mistake, but the chap took offense and threw his mug of brew at me....i had to leave but he got to stay.....said i was gurgling my brew...
If this was written today, they would also blast some music through a JBL, talk on their phones with the speaker on while rolling a joint, and try the bottle flip challenge with the bottle of champagne
Jake we are putting the band back together Elwood we’re on a mission from God Jake how much for the girls?? Elwood wrong glass sir My favorite scene!!!
"Wrong glass my ass, just fill it sonny!!!" Dan nailed this scene without saying a word.
Dan's "fill'er up" expression never fails to make me laugh.
It's the cherry on the cake..
They were comedic geniuses together. No wonder Dan misses him so much.
The whole world misses him.

Always loved Aykroyd's look with the glass, "Just fill it". 250 dollar champagne and as far as he's concerned it might as well be a 2 liter of Pepsi.
I’ll have a liter of cola.

Magnificent duo.
Pee Wee Herman was the waiter. Priceless.
This had to be one of the funniest scenes in any movie. Still bust a gut laughing every time I see it. "I mean they smell BAD".
You don't get out much.
I use that exact quote all the time. It’s a great one.
I thought it was one of the most boring 2 minutes of anything on film
Hahaha SELL ME YOUR CHILDREN!! Too funny.
The waiter who pops the cork has such expressive hands, he always reminded me of the Swedish chef muppet.

This is how I feel anytime I've ever gone to a fine dining restaurant. Shows up in jeans, Vans, and a Power Trip t-shirt.

"Sell me your children!" 🤣
John Belushi's whole "How much for the little girl?" spiel makes this scene for me. It's funny without that, but that makes it hilarious
One of my favorite lines from any movie...
The grimace Dan Aykroyd makes at 1:32 is priceless cast gold. What a terrific actor!

I hear people throw that line out there all the time "Oh they could never make this movie today!" and it's quite frankly completely asinine.

So when paying that price, drink it from any glass you choose.
