I did this EXACT thing on my 88 all the way around. I don't know that it really did much, the targa rails are what actually let water in.
I tried fixing them them year and then the top couldn't screw in right because it was cockeyed and long story short, the top flew off lol. I have a new one on and of course it leaks too, but not as bad. I know Shin-Etsu is the REAL deal, but it's a tiny fix to the real problem. Incredibly nice MK3 btw. It's laughable you still have the plastic seatbelt guide hooks intact. That thing has not seen that much use. Mine is the same color as yours, only oxblood interior. Just needs paint to look anywhere near yours. Full custom LED stuff. But only a 7M, you got the gem!

Thank you for your kind words! I had a very late night out at a car meet years back and had to be up early for work. I had the targa off all night and was so tired when I got home that I just laid the top on without securing it. That morning, I paid the price by having it fly off on the way to work!

I bought brand new targa seals for my Supra but I will be interested in doing this to my seals to keep them fresh. I bought my targa seals from a ebay Japan seller. Didn’t even bother to look if it’s still available at the Toyota dealer
