Nice recommendations, especially the shape extension handle. I do have to chuckle however at how you like heavier rigs. When I was 30 I felt the same. Now that I’m older, I’m doing everything I could possibly do to reduce weight!
good job Brian Hunt. I will def Upgrade to SHAPE Handle, This was super informative for me. I love the WEIGHT too. M FX9 rig is 18lbs already and Im adding V mount plate and NEO's 2m. I prefer the weight actually. I'm surprised you running this rig on batteries.
Hi Brian, what is your advice about using the small hd focus 7 with sony a7riv / a7iiis in 30/60/120fps ? Thank you, regards, Ricardo Leser (from Brazil)
Hi Brian I've got to wait till the end of June to get my Fx9 (can't wait) ... Over the last 3 year's, I've bought tons of extras for my FS7's (one is a mk2) ... I'm keeping them, but it would be great to know that many of my SmallRig accessories like top plates and handle with rod extension for heavy monitor/transmitter will cross over ... Or will I have added expense? Great channel btw - subscribed 👍
Hi Chris, thanks for the kind words. All of my accessories, top plates etc from FS7 fit on the FX9 the only think I could not get to fit was the Shape extension handle its a bit different on the FX9
Awesome rig, thanks for sharing. I would say Sony E mount glass (or any compatible lens) for sick autofocus and it allows you to stabilize in Catalyst Prepare, it's amazing. And a big ass AB 240 gold mount battery...
Hey man I noticed a major issue with downloading your scene files, I have to change all 10 of my assignable buttons to every single scene file what a nightmare.
I took the top handle off but there's a plastic clip that's attached to the top of the camera that's preventing me from putting on the top plate. How did you safely remove this clip?
i never understood why some are making those fast jerky movements when they operate an electronic device, like quickly changing settings, throwing and banging the equipment. too much coffee? anxiety? wtf
Do you find the battery life to be significantly lower on the FX9 vs. FS7? The v-mount adds so much weight I don't typically like using it but I'm hearing it's more necessary with this camera.
Ty Frey it pulls about 30% more power then the FS7 so a fair bit more I have 8 larger batteries so have the extra battery usage covered. V mount would be ideal if not concerned with weight

You really don't need an external monitor at all, the LCD works great.
How do you like that lens? I get asked for them every now and then for rentals, so I've been loosely considering getting one.
In about a year I’ll invest in an FX9 and this looks like what I’ll emulate.
How are you powering everything? Are you d-tap'ing into something besides a BP style battery?
I got one of those vtc plates but I wish the shoulder pad was a little wider and twisted to compensate for how a shoulder looks.
Great video Brian!
thanks for your video , please let me ask you , what bag you use for this setup , and if you can make a video for this .
Did Sony ever resolve the weight balance issue for shoulder mounting the camera? I understand the FS7 was too front-heavy.
Hi Daniel, its the same as the FS7, but if you have a Vmount on the back or the extension unit it balances much better.

Thanks Walter, I do have the extension unit that I will be using to power with Vmount .
with V2 in October the display is touchscreen! (hardware was already, but no firmware for it)
thanks for this review!
Good video nice accessories
Nice setup. But where’s te v-mount? Or do u only use that when shooting raw?
Hey Brian, what camera bag setup do you use? I'm curious on your opinion. Thanks.
Hi Brian, love watching your videos, learning a lot from you. Could you please share links to the items? thanks.
Brian - great video. Thank you. The SmallRig shoulder pad you are using - is it this one? SmallRig Sony VCT-14 Shoulder Plate 1954. Thanks, Oliver
Yes, it is!
Brian Hunt thank you, Brian! Appreciate this. You also convinced me about the Sigma 14-24 and 24-70 Art lenses over the Sony Master glasses 👍🏻👍🏻
thank you for sharing!
Hello, Thanks for the video. May I ask which mic is that on the video?

Hi James, sorry for the slow reply, did you figure it out? Was it the clip that is for the cable guide for the EVF?
Witch Battery do you use?
