Get some good headphones and higher your volume in your settings and on your headphones. Also when someone is high up in the air you can’t see any visual sound affects. Just be careful when you’re rotating and always look around and slightly up. Check trees and bushes and be careful when going into buildings because there will be rats. Other than that, great video, Evolve Jake!
Agreed. Decent headphones with the atmos app helps a ton too. The first 3 bands, turn them way up and it makes footsteps much easier to hear, down side is you have to get used to the increased base the guns make and it takes time to adjust
Personally I reduced the ui size a long time ago because I found myself looking at my inventory or hp too often. By making it smaller, I made it less convenient to look at it, in an attempt to keep my focus on the game instead. It's worked I think for the most part. I never changed it back so I'd say it's fine.
I've quite enjoyed this... some of this I knew (not looking down) but some I didn't... I always look forward to a Jake video... Thank you for taking the time to make these videos
Yeah, the looking at the floor thing ive noticed a lot of people who are new to gaming do, like not just with shooters but with any game really. I guess they feel they should have the center of their screen on what they are paying attention to, and that's the ground beneath them. Otherwise yeah I think i do most of the things you mentioned in the vid, except differentiating the different sound effects for various things should try to pay attention to that. And something that you didn't mention but I'm always impressed by it when watching you is keeping an eye on the kill feed. Knowing which players are getting a buncha kills and stuff like that. A couple times I've thought to myself "ok now ill pay really good attention to it" and then i get distracted by whats happening in game and never look at the killfeed again. XD
Facts... narrowing into targets while keeping peripheral situational awareness in check. Learning to keep momentum when navigating. Slide cancels to change direction etc. Reload especially... Your main path to success making sure your camera/frame is looking at where it's supposed to
when I first started playing, it took me awhile to figure out that I was just looking at the ground in front of me and not the whole view. that was a game changer and so simple
I reckon a solid 80% plus of the AI im coming across right now splash themselves with nitro, then crouch and move from side to side while shooting. If you see someone splash nitro then crouch, chances are its an AI and you can ignore until you know the area is safe from real players
So I shouldn't be listening to this video while playing Fortnite... You could have started off with that tip. LOL. I think the thing that helped my awareness the most was just learning to look up instead of always focusing on the ground looking for loot. Also after I kill someone I don't immediately go for loot, I tend to step away, get behind cover and frantically look around for the third party while seeing loot with my peripheral vision before going to the loot pile.
I think looking at the ground is a psychological thing for newer players to simply get acquainted with the terrain that they're traversing and memorizing the landscape layout. Over time when people know where they're stepping they start looking up more. At least that's what I've noticed for myself lol
When I first started playing Fortnite in chapter 4 I didn't know about visual audio. Once I found out about it the game got a little bit less fun because I didn't have to listen for people running around me. Now the game just told me whenever people are near me. I wish there was a mode where nobody had access to it.
Thats just stupid without playing with it it caps your awareness and without awareness no one will want to play with you and you wont want to play yourself.
@@NardooseIam no I'm saying if nobody had access to it. And everyone had to depend on their hearing. There was a time someone was hiding in the water and I wouldn't have known they were there if it wasn't for the visual audio.
@@NardooseIamyou are the type of person who parks in handicap parking spots. It’s cheating in the game everyone has accepted. But god forbid when epic puts in an OP weapon. Bring out the tissues.
To be honest you don’t have to use it but I understand what you mean. It’s a double edged sword but I’m glad it’s in the game for hard of hearing people.
Signals you are likely facing ai: 1. enemy crouch walking out in the open. 2. Lots of shots from two or more people for a really long time. They're probably trying to kill each other but can't hit a shot. 3. Someone pickaxing a random wall in zero build. Often an ai. 4. Using the nitro item (not fists). When you get near them this season, they'll often nitro. 5. Late drop. Not always, but sometimes this is an indication of ai. They typically have less than optimal drops. 6. Running with their pickaxe out. They'll do this from time to time. 7. Knowing typical bot locations. There are spots that typically will have bots on the map. Knowing this will help you predict a bot is there without even seeing them.
Very useful tips thanks Jake! I know about visual audio, the music/podcast part is spot on, I do that only when I’m just doing challenges Thanks to you I always carry emp grenades for these annoying cars 👌🏾
I remember back in the day when i turned it on and got like 5 dubs in a row and nobody else even used it at the time so when everyone else started using it I was sad
I think also watching a lot of streams to see what streamers do to pay attention and when to put more focus into the game. I watch Jackizgodly nightly now, and I've noticed a huge step up in my game over the last 3 to 4 months, he is just so aware and puts it on display well when he notices something, that most others probablywouldnt notice.
The only problem i have with the visual audio is that sometimes when you are in a building with multiple players, u get confused alot. The visuals dont mach with the audio u hear. Maybe its just me.
ik you mostly play solos but i switched to ps5 recently from an old gaming laptop and i can play any other shooter out there but fortnite no matter the settings i change im going against mouse all the time and i feel like im standing still if i dont shoot them in the back or third party im jsut dead instantly and i jsut cant seem to find a path to victory
Yeah, the show sucks but it’s crazy. How many kills I got using the shield. It’s like if someone has one and you don’t you’re fucked and the same vice versa
I love it when zero build Fortnite daddy posts a video 🥰
We troll him too much 😭

Gotta watch out for them rats hiding in Fortnite and real life 💯💯
headphones with good clarity and frequency response are essential for hearing things clearly without having to destroy your eardrums with high volume

The bots/AI also tend to stand still and nitro splash before getting into a fight

The only problem I found with decreasing my hud size too much is my teammates nametags end up in weird places and it's harder to keep track of them

I feel like it’s also a builds thing, as looking at the ground or floor and turning is the quickest way to build a box around you.
@@shookistheblaine8521 hm, maybe, IDK I don't play builds.
W video Jake. You’ve always said it’s hard to explain this stuff but you do it well. Of course.
This game is more of a flight simulator than an fps game.

Wow, you smoke savage Mike
The bots also have shields when they land from the bus!
I don't ALWAYS know when I'm fighting a real player, but when I do It's because I'm getting melted by a Legendary AR/Shotgun.
You can not optimize your awareness until your mechanics are second nature
