Your consistent messaging on getting into fights to gain experience and not getting discouraged is really helpful. Feeling like you're not in control and you're "probably gonna lose this fight" and not being comfortable in close fights is so important. When you are in the zone, it feels like everything is moving more slowly and you can understand how the fight is playing out. You're a good coach, Jake! Also, I just used your creator code to get the free syrup emote. Thanks!
Thank you! I just started playing a few weeks ago to play Fortnite with my son. I’m use to more stealth style games so when I started pushing in solo matches last week my adrenaline was going crazy. I feel like the tips in this video will be helpful for me bc I don’t want to always be carried. 😅 I like the close combat shotty.
Just got a SCUF controller to have jump on a back plate button, completely game changing with the magneto power where you want to be sprint jumping and aiming all together
I gave you a like on this video as well as a sub, I think your way of explaining things is very straight-forward and to the point. You bring up some very good observations about hip-fire advantages that are in a sense "genius". By that I mean, it seems like when I hear you say "hip fire increases movement and evasiveness" it seems like something I should have been practicing for a while. I will admit I'm not too guilty on aiming down with shotty, although i have a bad habit of doing it with an SMG. I hope you have wonderful games ahead of you, and want to thank you for taking time to make this video.
Day 4 of moving to MnK. The struggle is still very real. One thing I have noticed is that it is much easier to hip fire than on controller, IME. Everything else is a mess at the mo 😆
Yeah MnK isnt just automatically gonna make you better at aiming or anything. It takes time to develop those skills, but once you get used to it and used to not having aim assist help you then it becomes a breeze for most people.
I played controller for the majority of my life and only recently switched to PC gaming about 2 years ago I think? And the biggest tip I have is it to take it slow and simple, it is unbeliavble how much staying calm and making slow movement helps! Slow is smooth and smooth is fast my friend. Building up the muscle memory is gonna be a little annoying at first but making all your movements smoothly with confidence will lead to some REALLLLY crispy aim and amazing beams
I use regular kbm but at one point I tried the analog stick attachment thing & it was crazy for close aim . Just didn’t feel like changing my binds so went back to regular.
Sens is such a personal thing. Just go in creative and practice and adjust. Maybe start in an aim trainer map. Jake has a settings vid also from a month or two back.
Can you suggest a recommendation when someone is chasing you for a medallion?? Seems like no matter what i do i get returned to lobby. They can chase me around the map non stop. Its fun but i usually lose these fights.
I look for fights, get 5-8 kills in games fairly regularly, but in the last 5, I get whacked easy. All of a sudden the competition gets way better. Thinking I’m playing a lot of bots through til the end?
It's because of all the fort items tournaments all this week and the championship in September. All the good players are coming out ro practice. My lobby have been hard as hell too
I only started playing in Chapter 5, so I have no knowledge of the shotguns prior. I really liked the frenzy auto because it had 8 shots, and could shoot quickly. I miss it. I would like the Gatekeeper more if it came with 5 shots, and then you get 2-3 more at weapons mod station; 3 shots is a problem, and getting into a bunker isn't always an option.
You can still get the frenzy shotgun from oscar if u land at classy courts. You have to interact with him and choose the battle option and not just open fire and he will drop the mythic frenzy auto
@@drunkhusband6257 last season I would agree with you. I dropped meowscles for the purple every game but this season I’ll take the extra damage because usually I’m using it after hitting them with an emp and some nitro fists and in that case I prefer the extra damage.
Agreed. With an EMP, you only need one shot and maybe a burst spray to finish someone. I play Duos where fights are longer and I rarely need a drum mag to finish a team nowadays
Very informative, but it would be nice if the gameplay being streamed was more lined up with the subject you are instructing on. For example I'd like to see an example of you right shoulder peaking while you talk about it
i literally always forget that hip firing is a thing - i'm so used to long-range fights that i just automatically scope in every time, even in a close-range fight. i'll definitely have to give hip firing a shot (heh) and see if my sens is where it needs to be.
Same…. I have the hardest time remembering to hip fire. I’m good on practice maps but throw me in a real game and once the pressure hits I’m ads’ing. 😢
@@antimateriel4313 sounds like we both need to throw ourselves at people (and die a lot, probably) to train it into ourselves 😹 at least, that's what i'm going to do!

Codes support content creators when claiming free stuff from the item shop? Is there any way to set it and forget it?

Jake is teaching me more than my school teachers lol
Maybe bec your teachers don’t teach abt fortnite💀
Maybe because it’s summer
Prob bc you don’t care about what ur teacher is talking about
ur gonna be a failure w no job j playing fortnite all day then?

TY for noticing I did not think that was going to hit 😂

100% paddles or playing claw is huge for controller players

I improved a lot because of your help and your so right you gotta get use to fighting now I went from 6 kills to 15-20 a game now
Mythic Gatekeeper and Exotic Maven are my all time favorite shottys in Fornite.

Gonna be so worth it.
My favorite shotgun is the Gatekeeper. Love your channel, I keep showing you too all my friends who play, much love!
I can’t find the sweet spot on the hip fire so I aim in more than necessary. Do you think switching to exponential instead of linear would help?
Most likely yes expo is easier to control for most players.
@@EvolveJake Interesting. Thank you for responding. I’ll try that.
my favorite shotgun this season is the Gatekeeper. I love the triangular shape reticle it comes with.
Your videos and advice have genuinely helped me improve my game. Thank you for all you do. Cheers 🍻 ❤
Bro these gameplay vids are ridiculous 😮
Good shit. A week or so ago I realized My sensitivity and mouse DPI was WAAAY higher than most people play at. Lowering it has definitely helped.
whats ur settings?
Great video Jake!
@evolvejake any specific advice on which aim sensitivity to adjust and what’s a good place to start?

Hey Jake. Which gloves are better? Why?

Combat shotgun is good
Guys when you are nitro’d you can run directly at magnetos and bash right through them !!! PRO TIP
Can you adjust your weapons swap speed with a controller
As a new player - I approve of this video!
What is your sensitivity settings??
Well done as always
Gatekeeper all the way. I've tried to run the combat but it just doesn't feel good on controller for me. Jake is the 🐐.
I found a good sens for hip fire but I find that my movement is slow to turn into enemies/ follow them as they jump over me with mvmt items :/
Do you play with paddles?
I use one paddle for sprint and play claw.
mythic gatekeeper. most op shotgun of all time (ill hear an argument for mythic havoc). i drop grim gate every game for it.
I'd disagree, a lesser rarity variant with drum mag is far better.

do y'all think this game needs a shoulder swap button? how much would the game change if left shoulder peeks could also be as strong as right?
3:35 I would’ve been so mad if I died like that 😂😂
also it's more fun to practice in zerobuild gamemodes like "the pit" I got incredibly good with aiming playing there
Have maneto gloves or get got.
Grim gate is insane

If hands got nerfed to mobility. And the other gloves got vaulted for life. The game would b much more enjoyable
