    I love the fact that at the end you said you’re proud of what you got and who cares if it’s not snap on. I’m a 20 year old college student who works on cars as a hobby with my buddies and I am not going to school to be a mechanic but I still love to work on cars. My buddies are going to school to be mechanics and give me a hard time because they only buy snap on and Matco. I don’t think I could be more proud of the tools I have though even if it is more of the mid line tool line. It’s mine and it’s what I spent my hard earned money on and it’s mine so who cares. Great video and would love to see more!

I bought deep/shallow 3/8 and 1/2 sunex swivel sockets for a few hundred bucks. I think snap on was 500 for 1 rail of deeps...crazy. same with my torque wrenches, went with gearwrench ! 450 bucks into 3 wrenches vs 700 for 1 snap on. The bolt on the transmission your talking about, I use a Snapon 3/8 drive 5/8 wobbly, you have to turn it in a funky angle but basically the drive hole for the socket will point towards upper back. And use a 12" extension over the top of trans to get it.

    Nice video. I like how you explained the type of work you typically perform as it gives some insight as to why you have things laid out the way they are. On the Milwaukee electric ratchet - I have the same one and once backed it into a suspension part. I tried yanking, shoving, hitting it with a hammer and even hitting the direction switch with a chisel without success. I then decided it was a goner and to remove with reckless abandon. I used it for a year after that incident with the only memory having to hold the anvil sometimes to change the direction. One day I opened it, saw nothing was broken, and closed it back up with new grease - then it was fixed somehow. I'd still be using it to this day except I use long reach versions now. So yeah nice ratchet :D

    You have a fine set of tools. Nothing hear to be ashamed of. I worked on heavy construction and farm equipment for 18 years. I have worked as a heavy industrial maintenance technician for 24 years. I have come to terms with the fact that most any company with a lifetime warranty is going yo be a fairly reliable tool. My only personal recommendation is that snap on open wrenches are stronger, buy the long set 3/8 ~ 3/4 inch sizes. Maby, but not so necessary in the 15/ 16-inch size even though it is a very important daily user. Never buy a 13/16"or a 1" wrench, you will never use them. You might if some engineer sees this post and realizes he left a design flaw. I have found snap on chizzles and punches have superior cutting edges, but who can afford them? Only buy the sizes you need. I know, I've checked lately. A 3/4" & 19mm are virtually the same size, only being 0.003" difference in size. The same apples to 15/16" & 24mm with being only 0.005" difference in size.

      I've actually switched over to John Deere now a year ago next week. I quickly realized how many tools I didn't have, especially cordless tools and pullers. Just things I've never had to use before. Luckily I have an awesome matco and snap on guy that even have a decent amount of stuff cheaper than Amazon ie posi-lock pullers and things like that. Unfortunately I'm now about 45 minutes away from the closest "town" so my HF trips have been limited to one time every 2 weeks. I'm currently using the icon reversible ratcheting wrenches to give them a go since they were on a great ITC deal, I can't say I have any complaints honestly!

    Anyone that rips on you for not spending all your money on snap-on or matco or some other name brand tools is a moron. There's honestly no reason to put yourself into that much debt at the start of your career. As time goes on you can easily upgrade your tools as needed and when they have deals/sales going on. Now don't get me wrong there are some tools that you should cheap out on. An example of that is I'm a journeyman Gasfitter and I made sure I didn't cheap out on my pipe wrenchs, tubing cutters or flaring tool.

    • @sophiasocal68
      @sophiasocal68 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don't HAVE to go to a diesel technology program to get in to this business, although I'd probably recommend it if you have little to no experience around class 8 trucks and trailers. When I started out I had been working on trucks I owned for about 8 years so my 1st shop they put me straight on the heavy line side. Someone COULD be "homegrown" at a dealership or trucking company starting out as a lube tech and working your way up. All you need is an opportunity, a great attitude and the ability to learn and, most importantly, listen. Eventually you'll develop your own style of working on trucks. Good luck.

      Honestly you will use both metric and SAE, 15/16, 13mm 15mm 8mm Allen 5/16 Allen 13/16, 32mm and a whole lot more. I've honestly switched to Ag side and I'm now at Deere. I got tired of constantly working on the same thing everyday with a different paint job, along with I hated having to run abs and chassis harnesses in 579's at least 1 time if not 3 times a week. I loved the guys I worked with but everything became repetitive to the point you could almost predict what truck had what codes before you even hooked up to it. Not a bad place to work though, just depends on what you like doing!

    So left my old job since my last comment been in a Trans shop for the last10 months and love it got a match 80s cart on impulse love it and it has worked great but I am already starting to out grow it if I have all my tools at work and not at home it would definitely be full but what do ppl think on a cheap box like 45 56inch size I love the 2s but I don't want to spend 5g on a box I want to put my money in tools want to look at the new us general box to come out in the Grey but what do other ppl suggest for boxes under a grand I have not seen much good used in my area that is not over priced

    • @KonmanxX
      @KonmanxX  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly if I had to do it again I'd just go with the HF general boxes, the full drawer carts specifically. Stack one of the side lockers if you can find one on the side for the bigger stuff and be set if that makes any sense

    • @fishingmontana1564
      @fishingmontana1564 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I looked at it and the price is fantastic for what you get that is for sure have you seen the new box they released at Sema they will be out this spring and I am sure I will still be kicking my feet so I am kinda anxious to get my hands on one if it's in the 500 700 price I might get one and sell my matco cart and pay off my bill lol you have a sweet set up by the way I posted short video on mine after I got it but I have way more stuff and need to do a update tour

      @fishing montana I did I saw Koon trucking when he was looking at it. If I had to guess the double bay would be around 900-1.1k. I've got the matco cart still and I've thought about switching to the hf one because it's actually bigger and a little deeper for usable space it seems. I only paid 800ish for the matco though so that's why I have it still.
