    This was sooo helpful I wrote almost everything you said down lol, thanks for sharing this! Any chance you could share roughly your weekly earnings working at the bar?

    • @BenjaminHardingx
      @BenjaminHardingx  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Megan, thank you so much for your lovely comment ☺️🙏🏽 very glad it helped you! Yeah for sure, I was on a full time contract. My hourly rate varied through the week from 21 p/hr to 31 p/hr . (Weekend rates are generally more p/hr)
      Full time you get less by the hour where casual you get more.
      I managed to accrue annual leave & days in lieu over those 6 months of working there though during my full time contract. This gave me I think 3-4 weeks of pay whilst travelling.
      Different employers can offer different work contracts so check this first before accepting & see what works best for you.
      Thanks again for reaching out & best of luck with your ventures 🇦🇺🙌🏽

      Hey mate, thanks for reaching out (:
      I lived in Bundall when I was there, that had a lot of families near me.
      Other suggestions:
      Southport further away from surfers paradise but still near the coast
      Burleigh heads & Currumbin is opposite direction on the coast but a lot quieter & more chilled, great outdoor activities too.
      Hope this helps 🙏🏽

    the accomodation bit is what has stymied my move to australia from new zealand - ive heard qld has an accomodation crisis, melbourne was an alternative but the weather is a carbon copy wellington and i dont like daylight saving reconsidering hostels as an interim measure - a necessary evil

    I notice you reply to most of the comments which is very nice and helpful. I hope you can also reply to me since this has been posted last year.
    I would love to work in Australia and preferably there in the Gold Coast as most people say it's better there.
    I graduated with bachelor of science in tourism management and would like to work at a hotel as a receptionist or front desk agent. Do you know if it will be hard to find a job there considering I have no related work with the position I am applying for? I am currently working as a Customer Centre Professional/ CSR/CSP. Also I am living outside of Australia

    • @BenjaminHardingx
      @BenjaminHardingx  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello there Jorieneah, thanks for reaching out with your comment (:
      I have found it to be rather competitive there especially because Gold Coast is such a popular destination for many nationalities, aussies, Brit’s & beyond!
      If you don’t have any specific work experience for that job then I’d suggest highlighting your transferable skills on your CV/Resume (make them stand out, visible & relatable to the job you’re applying) that would give value to your prospect employer..
      I’ve also found that applying for jobs onshore is SOO much better because at least then you’ve got a visa you can work on..
      I’ve done 3 Working Holiday Visas & now on a Nil Vac Onshore visa, all my previous employers have needed all my visa info & the more time on that visa you can give your future employer the better!
      All of the jobs I’ve acquired in Aus have been from relocating to that location too, networking, & applying a lot.
      If I didn’t have experience in that industry, I’d find something close to it with my transferable skills (: eg. My labouring background & working in agriculture.
      I hope this helps, any other questions - feel free to give me a shout!
      Cheers,
      Benny

      @@BenjaminHardingx I am also thinking of other countries aside from Australia but any country that can accept me is okay as I dont really have any specifics. I worked in the past in the US on a J1 visa (Room Attendant) but room attendant is really what I want. If you have any suggestions of where to find or what country is more lenient or something please let me know.
      I appreciate you taking the time to reply to my previous comment. Thank you!

      @@jorieneahmahilaga5834 hey again, ah I see (: when I worked in the UK for Soho Farmhouse there was alot of overseas workers that worked in different departments, such as housekeeping, reception, restaurant etc. Cost of living I heard has gone up but see what the wages are like ay, might be a good place to get that experience? Maybe give it a google search..

      @BenjaminHardingx  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello santhosmundayat,
      Thanks for reaching out 🤙🏾
      Have you used fb marketplace to see what’s currently available in your area?
      I’d recommend going on fb marketplace, type in “room for rent” in search bar and then click on location, set radius in km to where you’d want to live.
      Then message the people who you want to arrange accom viewings.
      Suburbs like Labrador, Southport, surfers are all good but more dollar as near the coast.
      I lived in Bundall which was inland so was cheaper. Hope this helps mate 🙏🏽

    Thanks for the info! I've been thinking I want to move to Gold Coast from Alberta Canada a few years down the line. Considering I only have a high school diploma as of now I'm questioning how good jobs are there
    Out of curiosity, unless you moved in from a place that drives on the left, how long did it take to get used to the switch from driving on the right to driving on the left?

    • @BenjaminHardingx
      @BenjaminHardingx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Chris, thanks for reaching out! I’m originally from the UK so I normally drive on the left, but when I lived in Europe (Spain, Ibiza etc) id drive on the right. The roads are huge here though with not much traffic depending on how much ya go into the popular city areas etc. The roads are clearly marked out too for which ways you need to go! I hope this helps 🙌🏽 wishing ya all the best with your future adventures bud!

    • @BenjaminHardingx
      @BenjaminHardingx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Ali, thanks for reaching out mate! The Gold Coast Is a very popular destination all year round, depending on what sort of work you’re looking for. One of my work mates from the GC (in hospitality) was a student. Surfers paradise is generally busier for tourism so may be worth checking out employers over there (: public transport is super easy too. For international students: aslong as you got a visa that allows you to work for a decent amount of duration should be ok. Hope this helps & best wishes for your travels! 🙏🏽🌎
