Does anyone know if they discriminate or look down on people starting with their age? I’m 31 right now, looking to start an engineer apprenticeship with a mining company here in the UK work for them for a few years then make my way to FIFO
I do fifo work as a diesel fitter, it’s not that good trust me. I’m don’t have a short term plan, I’m just doing it as long as I can, smashing debt down. Salary sacrificing to super and sending kids to a good school. I’m hoping to retire on time owning a good sized family home with healthy super. I don’t have the mining stickers( Tatts) I don’t smoke or gamble, or drive over priced cars and have the toys, but a lot do. I see a lot of waste by other FIFO workers
@@MrMarkguth that's the secret to a short term rather than long term mining plan. Least you got a trade. Town work be easy to find. Just remember you can't buy time. Kids grow fast.
Mate I’m an Aussie who FIFO’s 4/2 and I live in Thailand (mostly). One bonus you non AU’s may not realise is while earning in AU you pay 10.5% superannuation and because you will not be retiring in AU you can collect that cash on the way home. 👍
I was wondering why you hadn't grizzled about the tax side of things at start of video. Most fifo's are in the 37% tax bracket(over $135k/yr) & a lot get into the 45% tax(above $190k), which hurts after doing 6 x 12hr days & living in what's like a voluntary prison only to have govt take a big chunk. Also end of year tax time you might find your employer has claimed the tax back on your flights, which the gov't will now seek to be reimbursed from you.
How can you be on a working holiday visa mate you look 45 haha also you can only be there for one year on that visa and you have to actually be holidaying not just working full time. On another note people, I personally know about 15 blokes that have at least one divorce and live paycheck to paycheck as ol mate says in this video the FIFO lads just blow all of their money on their time off whther that is just partying, gambling, going to bali or Thailand, getting tattoos, paying for a hotel on their time off as they don't have a permanent rental cor example or in most cases a combination of all of that. The most common story goes like this "ill just go do FIFO for a few years and save enough to get ahead then come back to a normal job" what ends up happening is 15 years later no missus divorced lonely some kind/s of addictions wosre off then when they started. And $33.50 per hour is almost minimum wage granted they do more hours and have no expenses but as i said they bjlowmit all on their time off ffs people earn that working in hospitality heck traffic controllers form roadworks can earn $50 an hour plus all of the penalties he just talked about
$33.50 does seem pretty ordinary.. I suppose no cost of living expense takes the sting out of it though. In the city would a pissy 1 beddy would be worth $300/400..then utilities and food..vehicle,rego and fuel..
Don’t get it twisted these jobs are not easy to come across at all, it’s All through agencys who are really hard to get in with without experience or and contacts this guy is Irish most likely has contacts trough friends
Also from northern ireland, seriously thinking about it, im 34 years old now though and will be 35 in January, Would I be eligible to come over in the summer and work for 5 months and then potetially travel round Aus on the 6th? Genuinely I'm considering it (if its possible to get the visa) :)
They all have nothing to come back to except bar girls in Thailand. It's a sad lifestyle and not many make it out like they thought they would when they started

Hi mate! I wanted to ask if the money is in Australian dollars or USD. Thanks! Keep up!
Australian dollar (AUD)
why would he use US dollars?
He gets paid in potatoes.
Because yanks are the most important people in the world.@@man.i.literally.failed6772
Go and work in the USA and see if they pay you in Aussie dollars! 🙄🤣
But why is difficult to earn a FIFO job when you're not in Australia?
It’s not, monkeys get hired on minesites.. you just got no employable skills or experience.
How to apply in FIFO job? I’m here in Melbourne
Thank you. What is the work you actually do?
This guy should be getting paid by FIFO for job advertisement.
Where is the paperwork to sign up
Where do you apply?
Nice video
Anything past a 7-7, 14-7 roster would be a horrible life unless you have nothing to come home to..
Why do you say that?
Went once on 85/hr rate. Never going back. I won't sell my life for 85/hr.

You have a fat bank balance to come to!
What’s your job dude?
What did = he say ?
You Irish?
