Have you tried something like this before? Do you think it can work in other player counts?

I don't feel Olympia, like most people. Last week I decided to push it till i learn how to win with that. I didn't see this video before, yet after one or two games I came to the same conclusion: If you don't want to play Olympia just opportunistically (which in fact is playing 7 Wonders without a Wonder, unless you don't have any better picks) and you want to use its features on B side - you need to go yellow, basing on a well set trading post. Unluckily in a 3-player (which we play the most) there is no Tavern, so it's not so obvious, and still I haven't made a good game with this one yet. My best shot was ignoring the Wonder stages, which is pretty sad, as it's like you don't have a Wonder. I find 2nd edition Olympia change as the worst thing they did in the second edition.
can't wait to test this out and show the video to my mates. I was wondering if is there any chance to make this strategy work even on alexandria. I mean, following this strategy caravansary could help and you want some grey resources to get paid, alexandria A grants you a nice starting point for that. I just would like to know your opinion about that
This looks like a fantastic solution to one question I always had in mind: "what if you are between two reds and the far wonders are all green?" ! The answer surprisingly seems to be: go for red wins anyway, except it is supported by yellow instead of by brown. And somehow this manages to work because Rhodos to your right has to worry about his own resources so they can't cut you off red effectively.
I completely agree - there are so many small things that help make it work: starting clay + early cloth with 2 copies of Courthouse, easy access to gray at the end of age2, 5 player means that people can struggle with brown because of the positioning of cards in hands and of course double tavern. :)
i only play olympia at the 7w app.. i have only one stratergy and its wuite effective. however, i feel like it’s hard to find new strategies for this wonder so its great to see this!
For audience who wonders: in game 2, the caravansary does pay off a lot! It saves 6 gold on courthouse, stage 2, magistrate, craftsman. It saves 3 on lighthouse (even more important if Ephesus had no glass) and counts as 1 pt 1 gold towards lighthouse. I did this count because I was a little surprised, since cara usually works the best when you already have a bit of browns.
Great one! Cant wait to try it out :) Should be this strategy primarily used when next to Rhodos or another brown wonder? I assume that f.e. between Ephesos and Hali (or Ephe and Babylon) you would rather go for A side and its classic strategy?
@@WonderfulPlays The hard one to answer is Alexandria - is Alexandria good enough to aim a trading post at? It can easily play with one or two browns...

What an honour to have a strategy named after me! Thanks Wonderful Plays! And very nice video by the way :)
Thank you for sharing it with everyone first!

I think it can work for Alexandria but the setup is much harder, you need a good dual and TP and Tavern probably.

Nice strat, it seems pretty solid from what I tested.

Thank you for doing the math! :)

You nailed it. I think this is something that should be considered, but between two green wonders I would still go for the Day side.

@@igordobroruka7842 I don't think I'd point blindly to Alexandria.
What are you saying is the strategy exactly??
First Game: Nice win despite Rhodos going for red so hard.
The 2nd one Rhodos did some heavy lifting as well IMO :)
