Swapping a camshaft in a dormitory parking lot in the middle of an Indiana winter was crossed off my bucket list a while back. I was able to scratch off getting frostbite from the bucket list at the same time.
@@FXRSDriver One of the better memories from days gone by. I can still see the orange glow of the headers when I was breaking in that flat tappet cam with the outside temp around 15 degrees. I also remember carrying a car battery about a mile from the junkyard to get that car started when I first bought it. My arms were aching. This was before the days of the built-in handles many modern batteries have.
Trust me, I doubt you'd be happy with the 5 speed that would have been in that truck, I've got one and almost completely wrecked the 3rd gear syncro from I believe not shifting it slow enough
@FXRSDriver I'm pretty sure they're all m5od, mine sure is which is the ranger transmission. The 3/4 and 1 ton 351w got the zf5 which is stronger but I don't think it likes fast shifts either.
Hey David love the truck hey question for you on tuning can you tune a Explorer 5.0 ECU I got a Explorer swap in my Ranger with a B Cam and a 5-speed truck runs fine just wanted to bump the rev limiter up and get rid of the hanging idle
Aw man I was hoping that you would leave the 347 and beef the trans up with one of those cheap gearsets from AMP I think they hold up 400-500 hp which ought to hold up pretty good I believe especially being we are putting 300 to 400 hp on a t5 rated for 225 or so. I hate to see ya build a strong motor and not be able to use it plus it was motivating me to get mine up there in your league 😂
@@79beans347 I’ll just keep the engine for Mosstang, that was the original plan anyways. I just wanted to see what it would run in the red car and make sure all was good with it. I’ll still make a pass with it before I pull it.
@FXRSDriver ok cool are u gonna tweak on it and bring it back to the dyno and see what u can squeeze out of it, I know it would be hard for me to pull it out after i done got a taste of that power 🤣
